If you let off the gas for any extended period of time you should pull the clutch in on a 2 stroke instead of allowing it to engine break. The reason is because the engine is still moving but it's not getting the same amount of fuel so it burns off the oil lubricant and it can seize the engine. Cool bike though.
You do know that with the clutch lever pulled in the piston still moves in the cylinder???? I've been riding for over 30 years and never seized an engine.
great job on the vid, my friend. take a word from the wise, Do Not engine brake a 2 stroke, pull in the clutch, when you are not twisting the grip. have fun!!
Alfonso Cabrera it's a debated topic, but my reason is, a 2 stroke requires oil in the fuel to lubricate the cylinder in the main bearings. If you are not giving it throttle, the moving parts are getting minimal lubrication. At high rpm, for an extended time, that can be very detrimental.
jake ander dude you comment stupid stuff on every single one of my videos. Either You like the videos because you keep coming back to watch them, or you have literally nothing better to do with your life. I'd appreciate it if you took your negatively to another channel. Thanks
Two strokes need to be fully warmed up before riding, that means several minutes before putting a load on it. Also engine braking a two stroke is a very good way to destroy the engine very quickly. Be careful.. Kick ass bike though, always liked the KX100's except for that hideous color.
Does it matter that much for you to comment on it? If it was your bike, yeah sure. But its not your bike if he blows it up, he blows it up, just let him be.
I had a seller do that to me the other day for a '09 yz250f that was fresh af. He had all new plastics and graphics with matching seat cover, new handle bars, grips, and levers. New aluminum wheels with blue hubs and tires, a new fmf pipe, and the engine was completely rebuilt and cleaned. It looked like a new bike and he had it listed for 2200. I asked him what the lowest amount he would take for it, I thought he was gonna say 2000 but he said 1800. He posted it at like 9pm on sat night and i messaged him about 11pm and told him i was gonna call him the next day to let him know when i could come get it. So when i called him to let him know i was gonna come either Mon or Tues cuz i could only withdraw 1000 dollars a day from the atm. So when i called he told me someone came that morning and bought it and i was kinda pissed he didnt call me first since i told him i wanted it. The guy paid the full 2200 and thats why he did it. But if he would have called i would have paid a little more cuz it was worth it. But oh well you snooze you loose i guess.
Hell yeah man, I got an 03 kx 100, glad to see that badass thing still running clean as fuck. Sounds just like my bike too, except I got full FMF exhaust
Ik I'm like 5 years late but my friend has one of these, he let me take it for a rip last weekend. Way too small for me in terms of frame size but such a fun little bike. All the small 2 strokes always feel so crazy. I've ridden one of these and also a KTM 85SX, both super fun bikes. The bigger motocross frames definitely fit me better as I'm 6'1" and about 210lbs but these things are still fun to rip around on. Definitely a big difference from the CRF230 I was on that day. My dream dirt bike is probably a KTM 150 XCW but those are still pretty expensive. But the new CRF250F looks pretty nice and about half the price of the KTM
I'm about the same size as you and am looking into getting one of these small bikes. That 150lb weight is what's making me want one. I currently ride a drz400s that weighs 320lbs.
@@keldonator I ended up getting a YZ250FX, I'd definitely recommend something like that. I mean literally any bike is a step up from a DRZ400 but I'm sure you'd have a blast on a 250 race bike. And if you do your maintenance most of them last forever, especially the YZs and CRFs. I'd definitely recommend a 250 for you. YZ250F or CRF250R. And if you do any trails or enduro, then the YZ250FX or CRF250RX. The KX250 and KX250X are also good bikes
@@lucahoganyt4435 Have you riden a drz400? Everything about it is great aside from the weight. I don't want to go fast, I want to lightweight low gearing trail bike myself.
@@keldonator They're not lightweight though 😂 I mean if you want a cheap reliable dual sport to just calmly ride easy trails then they work. But there are better bikes for off road. I'd definitely recommend a 250. Super light and snappy
If you watched these guys, they have no clue about bikes, at all. He says the front brake is 'really good' because it grabs so much and you can't even use it? That is NOT a good brake, something is wrong, probably a dirty brake piston that's sticking. Also the engine braking on that two stroke was making me cringe! Poor little engine, what did it ever do to deserve such abuse?
If your crank seals were going then the bike would be running super lean which it’s not. I have a 100 and they like to run rich for some stupid reason. But I’ve always put 32:1 in mine which is why his prolly smokes a lot too
Nice bike I was cringing a little though just because I'm kinda picky about how my bike is warmed up I never let mine idle I blip the throttle and you should have shifted to a higher gear also the main reason I was cringing but I could tell you wasn't used to it but I'm sure someone else has said the same but I'm just trying to help when us old guys are sitting still blipping the throttle we are not showing off

Seriously!!!! For having SO many different bikes throughout many years, you'd think this dude would be able to ride them at least a little bit. Reminds of the first time I put my 6 year old daughter on a bike with gears and a "real" clutch...
I have a CR 250 and when I pull the clutch in and put it in first gear it wants to go almost seems like the clutch is an engaging all the way do you know that could be
Yes. The kx125 isn't being produced, they were stopped in 2005 in America, but we're still produced in other countries until 2008. The kx100 and 85, as well as other small cc bikes are all currently being produced as of 2020
