Another brilliant review, the first part was done so well it felt like a short movie and the intro to all the animals was amazing, keep this quality up!
Hey saurian. Theres one thing you never realized. You saved carnivores. You post carnivores content. YOU do mod showcases. YOU created genesis. You saved carnivores. And the best part about it, is that you didnt even realize it. 6,000 people. Brought here because of you. Thank you very much. And your job is your job. It a nessiscity. But even then you create this content. With so little time. Thank you saurian. And have a good day
Hey Saurian, we all care about you man. Do what you gotta do to live comfortably man, don't feel pressured to pump out videos. I and I'm sure many other would wait as long as it took for a video from you
An excellent follow up, it was a great showcase and I loved your suggestion for looking into other possible planets for future mods. I think there's a lot of potential for that and it's already giving me ideas (that I can never live up to, darn it!) Keep up the amazing work and best of luck with the patreon.
I'd love to see someone do a "return to earth" semi-canon mod where it's basically a retelling of Carnivores Cityscape. Imagine Carnivores as we know it, but the maps are urban and suburban environments. Hunt T-rex in an abandoned Russian farm land, hunt raptors in a common neighborhood that's been evacuated, or hunt some dinosaurs in a super market that's been converted into some kind of nesting ground. Basically think Cityscape, but worse - like we lost, or are losing, and whole countries have had to be evacuated, and you're being sent in there in an effort to reclaim the territory. It could also have some horror elements to it. If only we get the Carnivores steam port, and maybe people can do more advanced things with the AI, we could make more complicated map ideas where the dinosaurs stay in certain areas or behave in certain ways that can help some kind of very basic narrative. Imagine a big apartment complex that's been broken into by raptors, and you climb the stairs and have to check every dorm room because raptors made nests in a bunch of rooms and they get hostile if you get too close to their door.
This was one of the most creative mod showcases I've seen so far. I definitely enjoyed it and found it a ton of fun to watch. How long ago did the mod come out? I'm still shocked I missed this showcase. Recently I've been thinking: "Huh.. Haven't heard from Saurian in a while." Then bwah! Turns out I missed two videos from ya. I was wondering if there was any news in regards to the Mobile ports? Expanding the universe of Carnivores is something I feel has to happen eventually. FMM UV-32 only has so much space on it for so many sectors and eventually, all the space will run out unless the planet is somehow made even bigger.
A Darwin 4 mod would be freaking amazing, but the big problem I imagine with that is that, due to the low gravity, the majority of the iconic fauna is freaking huge compared to the hunter, making all of them extremely dangerous or difficult to hunt. There's a chart out there showing some of the alien's sizes compared to an average human and...wow. The Daggerwrist alone is larger than a tiger, the Arrowtongue is probably larger than a T. rex, the Groveback could flatten house-blocks and the Sea Strider is a walking skyscraper
Agreed, that's something I think a potential modder would have to take some creative liberties with. Without a humanoid scale for reference throughout the documentary, I feel like it wouldn't be too jarring to scale them down for the purpose of a Carnivores mod.
Saurian Target I think it was said in the documentary that the two robots were the size of trucks, so that gave at least some reference. But yeah, as a kid I was sometimes confused how large these things were supposed to be. Then I read the original book and was kinda shocked. They never interact in the documentary, but in the book there's a scene where a Groveback kills an Arrowtongue by running it over with its back-skid without even noticing it.
Thanks to your tweets and poharexs work, i got a carnivores themed birthday present. Thanks for the tweets. I never wpuld have realized that he updated the game.
5:26 YO WAIT JP HUNTER HAS THAT? *runs to Mod DB to try giving it another try* Fun Fact: When I tried playing JP Hunter, it wouldn’t work properly. And I could never play it. I think I might wanna try it again. :p
Saurian Target Well I got some good news. I got it working again. I can actually start playing. Being I haven’t seen anything that will spoil what’s in the mod besides animal and it’s JP. It will probably be a blast.
I think if there was a Carnivores 2 mod where players could hunt the animals of Darwin IV, I think it should be called “Liquivores” (after the clade/order most megafauna of the planet belong to- named after their diet).
first we hunted alien creatures that looked like dinos , ice age animals, etc. now we hunt modern day animals ? the carnivores games are getting better and more creative for sure and hope they continue like that.
It's understandable that it is very time consuming when not making these videos as a profession when comparing to how other users have financial support. Don't let this control your life and interfere to what's important; family and finances etc. Anyway, I think what really maters with this mod showcase is that even though it took as long as it did, you still committed and stuck with it and completed the video(s) without giving it up altogether or moving on. Lots of people never finish personal endeavors at all. Also with what you said about having ideas, I would love to see more cinematic videos with lore focuses or fan fic type ideas if you have any. The one about the infected Velociraptor and the mystery behind it was a really good one.
Thank you for the kind words and encouragement, my friend! I really appreciate it. As for the cinematic videos, they were a definite inspiration for this particular showcase. I still have quite a few planned and I know some people do enjoy them, plus I wanted this showcase to be different than the others, so I figured this would be a good time to test some new waters.
You're one of the best RUclipsrs out there, and if I could donate to your patreon I most certainly would! Unfortunately I can't, but if there's anything else I can do for you then just let me know and I'll do whatever I can!
Loved both videos Saurian and I completely agree about Dino hunt Corp needing to go to different planets. Just think of the things we could experience.
You make me want to play carnivores more, and I have been putting some thought into the mobile ports. Specifically, the evolution of the carnivores. So, I believe the first carnosaur (this group doesn’t exist in real dinosaurs, but this is Carnivores, a game that tosses science to the wind) would be allosaurus, and all of the carnosaurs evolved from it. Four groups emerged from allosaurus. Allosaurus was part of the first: the baso-carnosaurs. This group began with allosaurus, which then evolved into ceratosaurus, and that evolved into t-rex. The second group is the carnotaurs. This group includes only carnotaurus, but there may be a missing link between carno and allo. The third has a similar situation. The spinosaurs has only one known member, the spinosaurus, and there may be a missing link between spino and allo. The fourth group is the largest of the four, and it is divided into several families. The raptorine group began with velociraptor, which evolved into the larger utahraptor. These two dinosaurs form the raptorid family. The coelophysid family evolved from velociraptor, and it included coelophysis and troodon. The third family, the oviraptorids, evolved from velociraptor as well. It began with oviraptor, which evolved into gigantoraptor. Then, titanis evolved from gigantoraptor, ending the oviraptorid family and starting the bird family. Last, titanis split into the beefy diatryma and the flying archaeopteryx. I have composed other family trees, and will leave them in a reply to this comment at one’s request.
I'm going to work on modeling over the summer. Then, I might be able to start working on a few carnivores mods of my own, possibly. About the branching out part. I completely agree, we need to branch out. But, if there is only one continent in the carnivores planet, and there could be more, there is also an entire ocean which could be used for a good mod if we got a better engine (steam greenlight carnivores). There's also the possibility of underground ecosystems. When I start learning how to make mods, actually, I'm going to make an area like journey to the center of the earth. For other planets, a few ideas could be a planet like proxima centauri b or the trappist 1 system, which has 4 planets in the habitable zone.
I wish they made new modern day models (much like the time period of this game) even if they had to use the old models I wish they would make some changes like like elephant to have smaller shoulders and tusk also to have larger ears or the polar bear to have smaller shoulders and longer legs but nope
Better late than never, I say. I understand. And you make an excellent point on the possibility of explorin' the other 31 planets. Who knows? Perhaps we'll someday get a mod involvin' a desert planet, an alien planet similar to that Alien Planet documentary, an ice age planet, a planet of kaiju-like beasts, even a planet dominated by animal-like plants. But that's just me. Speakin' of showcases, why not start off with... I dunno, Jurassic Park Polar Expansion and then Jurassic Park Hunter 3, if you ever find the time. But again, that's just me. I wish ya the best of luck of everything in cyberspace and the real world. You're definitely gonna need it. 'Nuff said.
Thank you, my friend! I too hope we'll get to see some of those other planets in the future. As for the next showcase, I think it's gonna be on Carnivores 2+, but that's subject to change.
@@SaurianTarget Carnivores 2+, huh? I'd love to see a showcase on that one, and the Jurassic Park Hunter sequels, and Carnivores Genesis, for that matter. If and when ya find the time, that is. On a digressing note, if it's any consolation, I was never good with deadlines, either.
Another great showcase! I also like your idea about how DinoHunt Corp. could expand and open other planets to hunting. I have one idea on how they could expand. How about dragon hunting? What if DinoHunt Corp found a similar planet to FMM-UV 32, where dinosaurs, pterosaurs and marine reptiles went down a different evolutionary path and became dragons? Dinosaurs could have evolved into Hexapodal Dragons (standard Western dragons with four legs and two wings, or two legs, two arms and two wings) and Drakes (dragons that walk four legs or two legs but have no wings and are flightless). Pterosaurs, or perhaps maybe dinosaurs like Yi qi could have evolved into Wyverns. Plesiosaurs and Mosasaurs could have evolved into Sea Serpents and various other Sea Dragons. Oviraptors could have even evolved into Cockatrice (chicken-like dragons). Or maybe the dragons didn't even evolve naturally, maybe they were created genetically by mixing together the DNA of various different dinosaurs, pterosaurs and marine reptiles and than left to inhabit this planet so that people could come and hunt them. And why stop at dragons, why not include other mythical creatures too, like Gryphons, Phoenix's, Manticores and Chimeras?
I smell a Dragon Quest remake over here! xD Absolutely great idea, and that's what I'm talking about! All sorts of wacky ideas can be done with the Carnivores formula, and the game is constantly evolving, so what we will be able to do is limitless.
@@SaurianTarget In the video you also said that FMM-UV 32 is running out of space. I have a few suggestions for people who still want to do more dinosaur mods but cant do them on FMM-UV 32 anymore when it runs out of space. My first suggestions is that someone could make a mod where DinoHunt Corp. develops a way to travel back through time so they can hunt dinosaurs back in prehistoric times. I know they already did something like that in Primal Prey, but a lot of people didn't like that game, so I thought why not just make a mod for that in Carnivores? My second suggestions is that someone could make a mod where hunters are allowed to hunt prehistoric cryptids on Earth, such as Mokele-Mbembe, Kasai Rex, Emela-Ntouka, Kongamato and other supposedly living dinosaurs in the African Congo. Perhaps maybe even hunt the Loch Ness Monster as a bonus animal. The third suggestions is that maybe someone could do a mod where DinoHunt Corp. has discovered other FMM-UV planets that are also populated by dinosaurs, some real and some made up. Perhaps maybe even someone could do a mod where DinoHunt Corp. has terraform (or in this case xenoformed) another planet to be like FMM-UV 32 to have dinosaurs on it, though the story behind that would probably have to take place a few hundred years in the future, since scientists say that's how long it would take to terraform a planet.
@@SaurianTarget I read on the Carnivores Wiki that FMM-UV 32 has one known moon. I was wondering if maybe someone could do a mod that takes place on its moon. Do you personally think that might be a viable idea?
If there's is any sort of Carnivores mod I'd really think would be neat, it would be a pair of mods that collectively could be called "Carnivores Afterlands". In a sense, the huntable animals could be the alternate-reality modern day dinosaurs of Dougal Dixon's "The New Dinosaurs" in one mod, and the other would have the future animals from "After Man". (I'd LOVE to hunt a Nightstalker, or a Gigantelope, or just pass by an ambient Reedstilt. And in the same vein, hunt a Cuthlastooth, or a Northclaw, or just pass by an ambient Lank) As for lore, the Afterlands themselves could be a a sort of Australia-esc continental island chain that house some "relic" animals' descendants (particularly of the After Man-inspired portion), kind of going into a "Why are there only certain Earth-like animals, and not others? What became of those others?", and then as for the New Dinosaurs side of the concept, it would be a "what happens when some of the dinosaurs from the mainland become geographically isolated for millions of years, and how drastically different have they become?"
Hey Saurian I got a suggestion for ya If you ever did another cinematic mod review, use the song “Khans of New California” from the original Fallout. I think it heavily fits in with the Carnivores universe.
Garish darnit Saurian! You once again made my heart skip a beat, but now instead of just one frothy, veiny, red eye popping out now both of ‘em are! I’m angwee >:c
They should make a mod of the angry red planet. Make the animals, map, and weapons, red but make them noticeable. The final animal should be the rat bat spider. But when you use the binoculars make them have a blue or other dark color tint when you look through them that way you can rest your eyes so the red doesn’t give you a headache.
im still so ridculously confused how you only have 9k subs. I mean seriously, your editing is great, your videos are entertaining, I just don't get it.
I'm at a loss,I have the latest version of Carnivores+ but the sceen keeps exiting out like it minimizes on its own and returns to the desktop and I can't play but I can play Triassic,Modern Days(the game in this video) and Carnivores 2+ fine. Also cannot run Mandibles. You seem like you know these mods so any ideas? Kinda weird to bother you and it's fine if you don't know a solution. If you can't help I'll have to find an active forum or something.
@@SaurianTarget Yeah it fixes the heap allocation error but then does the minimizing and when I try to click on it it jsut closes again.Only those 2 mods are doing the auto minimizing thing.
I wouldn't put too much hope in them to stay active on Carnivores content. They've only got like one person working on Carnivores, and he's working on their other games at the same time.
Maps (and again) *Colorado* : 🇺🇸 Is "fort ciskin" by carnivores dinosaur hunter *South africa* : 🇿🇦 Is "vengar fjords" by carnivores dinosaur hunter *alaska* : 🇺🇸 Is "mcrath island (but whit grass)" by carnivores ice age *Botswana* : 🇧🇼 Is "fort ciskin" by carnivores dinosaur hunter *north pole* : 🇨🇦( 🇬🇱 I think) Is "dry nodus lake" by carnivores ice age
I downloaded _Modern Days_ a few months back; and while I admire the idea of the mod (and understand it's from the early days), several things kept me from liking it much. It's hard to summarize my feelings about the maps. The first two are alright, all things considered. The Alaska map is probably my favorite; the swapping of foliage and partial retexture really works for the most part. The last two maps are the most lackluster: Botswana is just Colorado/Fort Ciskin just with different foliage, while the Arctic/North Pole feels like it could have a little more polish (swapping out or at least recoloring the mud texture, maybe removing the bushes completely). My main issue with all the maps is the textures on the grass and bushes; they're all rather bright, saturated and lacking in detail, clashing horribly with the terrain. Another problem I have with the mod is the sound work, or rather lack thereof. Specifically, the animals don't seem to have any sounds. Aside from being slightly immersion-breaking, it also makes hunting without radar even more difficult. And finally, *the grind.* As mentioned, there aren't really any effect ways to locate animals; the best you can do is just wander aimlessly whilst occasionally scanning with the binoculars or playing calls. Mostly, it boils down to luck; and combined with the low scores of each animal, getting enough points to unlock _anything_ in this mod seems to take so long it's hard to maintain interest in playing. Some people my like it; for me, it's just too tedious to be fun.
I definitely understand those complaints. As I mentioned, this mod definitely feels its age, and doesn't hold up super well by today's standards. A remake would be neat, but I doubt that's high on anyone's priority list at the moment.
Well, I'm not sure that there's a good download for Carnivores at the moment, but if I may suggest an alternative, I'd highly recommend Carnivores+, it's essentially the original game just done better in the Carnivores 2 engine. www.moddb.com/downloads/carnivores-beta-199
Hi, Saurian. Did you check out the new updates for Carnivores +? There's also a new dinosaur, the Iniquutyrannus. I did check it out by myself yet, but maybe tomorrow i would give it a try. www.moddb.com/mods/carnivores/addons/iniquutyrannus-dlc-preliminary-release There's the link.
@@SaurianTarget It is possible that the Iniquutyrannus has a new kill animation? It's possible that i wouldn't be able to play it today and I'm very curious about that.
Ok it‘s a reskin mod and there not so many huntable animals and yeah it is weird that you can hunt a polar bear in america and the descriptions are also not the best but I had so much fun with the mod and for me it‘s one of my favorite Carnivores mods
From one random guy on the internet to another, I'm fully with you on the idea of expanding! Darwin hunting sounds like a blast!

I smell a Dragon Quest remake over here! xD
Absolutely great idea, and that's what I'm talking about!
And in the same vein, hunt a Cuthlastooth, or a Northclaw, or just pass by an ambient Lank)
As for lore, the Afterlands themselves could be a a sort of Australia-esc continental island chain that house some "relic" animals' descendants (particularly of the After Man-inspired portion), kind of going into a "Why are there only certain Earth-like animals, and not others? What became of those others?", and then as for the New Dinosaurs side of the concept, it would be a "what happens when some of the dinosaurs from the mainland become geographically isolated for millions of years, and how drastically different have they become?"
Will you ever do a mandibles mod showcase?
I will when Mandibles is finished.
Thank you.
Hey Saurian
I got a suggestion for ya
If you ever did another cinematic mod review, use the song “Khans of New California” from the original Fallout. I think it heavily fits in with the Carnivores universe.
Alien Planet Hunter: Drake Denies
The Future is Wild Hunter: Drake Approves
You know the creatures on the alien planet cover look like those things from Half Life XD.
Does anybody know the name of the carnivores font
I use Lithos Pro. Not sure if it's 100% the same, but it's really darn close.
I was talking about the one on the logo

Hey Saurian Target, I missed u!😀
And I missed you!
I’m making concept art for a never to be made mod of my own where it takes place on another planet
Are any Lions in carnivorous modern days
Garish darnit Saurian! You once again made my heart skip a beat, but now instead of just one frothy, veiny, red eye popping out now both of ‘em are! I’m angwee >:c
That's terrible! How will you ever watch Carnivores videos now?!?
hello bob
havent you thinking about making that darwin iv mod and put some of my favourites in like prairie ram and rayback and please make that mod please
Garret = Mrs. Puff confirmed
Also are you gonna do the carnivorous moschops.
Considering the problems with Carnivores: Modern Days, perhaps a Modern Days remake is needed to fix all of these problems?
A modern Modern Days, eh? I'd be down if someone wanted to give it a go!
@@SaurianTarget Post-Modern Days mod
im still so ridculously confused how you only have 9k subs. I mean seriously, your editing is great, your videos are entertaining, I just don't get it.

Double Feature. Nice.
Can you do another video on carnivores corporation please
Yes, a couple of Corporation videos are in the works!
The ambient animals and hunts animals in the game got no sound nor footsteps, has anyone experience the same?
WE NEED ALIEN HUNTIN'
PLEASE.
I'm at a loss,I have the latest version of Carnivores+ but the sceen keeps
exiting out like it minimizes on its own and returns to the desktop and I can't play but I can
play Triassic,Modern Days(the game in this video) and Carnivores 2+ fine. Also cannot run Mandibles. You seem
like you know these mods so any ideas?
Kinda weird to bother you and it's fine if you don't know a solution. If you can't help I'll have to find an active forum or something.
Hmm... Have you set the compatibility to Windows '98 and everything?
@@SaurianTarget Yeah it fixes the heap allocation error but then does the minimizing and when I try to click on it it jsut closes again.Only those 2 mods are doing the auto minimizing thing.
Does anyone here know what happened to Tatem games? they haven't updated the carnivore games or posted any updates on how they are doing in a while.
I wouldn't put too much hope in them to stay active on Carnivores content. They've only got like one person working on Carnivores, and he's working on their other games at the same time.
I am a coke and I love this💗💗💗 and 🦖 Dino’s are lit
What is you're least favourite animal?
Like, in general? Probably mosquitoes
No I meant in the game
This looks like a great mod
It's definitely worth checking out!

20 hours early and 115 likes and no dislikes know that’s good
I downloaded _Modern Days_ a few months back; and while I admire the idea of the mod (and understand it's from the early days), several things kept me from liking it much.
When you a poor boi but you want to donate anyway
I want the WWD polar allosaurus really bad.
Pls poha
Instead of modern days it should be called Carnivores:Deer Hunter
As soon as you said different planet I thoat Darwin and a fue minuets later you said drawin
Can someone tell me please where da heck i download Carnivores (1998)
Well, I'm not sure that there's a good download for Carnivores at the moment, but if I may suggest an alternative, I'd highly recommend Carnivores+, it's essentially the original game just done better in the Carnivores 2 engine.

I downloaded the original one from here:

Hi, Saurian. Did you check out the new updates for Carnivores +? There's also a new dinosaur, the Iniquutyrannus. I did check it out by myself yet, but maybe tomorrow i would give it a try.

I did see it, thanks! Working on a video for it right now!
@@SaurianTarget It is possible that the Iniquutyrannus has a new kill animation? It's possible that i wouldn't be able to play it today and I'm very curious about that.
Hmm... Perhaps...
Mordern days is far better than Ice Age in my opinion
Ok it‘s a reskin mod and there not so many huntable animals and yeah it is weird that you can hunt a polar bear in america and the descriptions are also not the best but I had so much fun with the mod and for me it‘s one of my favorite Carnivores mods
