    6:27 I wish I knew this before attempting WILD several times and being disappointed that I couldn't go to sleep (lucid or otherwise). I was way too alert and focused on not moving an inch, not swallowing, not moving my eyes at all (even though I have a condition that makes that really hard) and I just ended up frustrated because I couldn't see any imagery. Hopefully my next attempt will be different with all this in mind.

      @@Dicegambler-r8h Well, it's hard to tell. I didn't keep up with it as I should and a lot of the time I just didn't bother to do it/was too tired after wbtb. It's still kind of tricky to not go fully unconscious, but there is progress to be had if you keep doing it.

    I did WILD a few times and I feel like they were actually DILDs, because when I woke up I remembered that I actually did them in a different room than I slept in. Today I also had a lucid dream from doing WILD, but again it felt like it started from another dream (because when I woke up again one hour has passed). I'm confused.

    • @LucidDreamPortal
      @LucidDreamPortal  Год назад

      Just to be clear, we do not "do WILD" but we "try to achieve a WILD". It's a subtle difference, but an important one.
      There are techniques that aim to give us a wake initiated lucid dream. But we cannot "do WILD" in the same way that you cannot scramble already scrambled eggs.

    Hello and thanks for contributing to spreading this very precious knowledge, would you agree that a lucid dream is a lucid dream regardless of how it was initiated so wild, dild and mild are not types of lucid dreams but lucid dreams initiated differently?

    • @LucidDreamPortal
      @LucidDreamPortal  Год назад +1

      Yes and no, or not entirely. Yes a lucid dream is a lucid dream regardless of the technique used and at which point in sleep it started, but there are two categories of lucid dream type which are worth noting: WILD and DILD (dream initiated or wake initiated). MILD wouldn't fit into this as it is a technique that is targeted towards primarily inducing DILDs. However there are significant qualitative differences between these two categories (WILD or DILD), and they require different strategies and can lead to predictive subjective differences.
      There are a near endless number of techniques for inducing either a WILD or DILD. But neither WILD not DILD are techniques themselves, they are outcomes.
      So it's much a case of being aware of the differences but not obsessing.
      The trick with this subject, in my opinion, is to avoid oversimplification or mistaking the map for the territory.
      Nature and the mind are complex messy places.

    Do I have to maintain my awareness the whole time until I am in the dream? Because if I focus on my breathing this happens. After focusing I fall unconsciously asleep and find my self in a lucid dream.

    HI!! JUST A QUESTION.. I DOUBT YOU'LL SEE THIS 😭 i'll ask anyway, the REM sleep part.. What happens when as soon as you fall asleep you start to dream? I remember texting someone "im falling asleep!" while waiting for them and i fell asleep.. I have a good long dream, i wake up to see that i sent that message 14 minutes ago, i remember taking little naps of a few minutes and dream in that short amount of time.. Meaning i dream as soon as i am asleep, what do you call this?w is this instant.. REM sleep? i need answers!!1!1!
    another thing to mention is that i dream 3-7 times a night.. I have good dream recall so i know, im not sure if this is due to having good dream recall or no.. Hoping you'll reply, i view you as the ultimate master of dreaming, someone i definitely trust!!w (now its two questions, dear sir LDP, your answer shall be highly appreciated 🤝

      Hey, thanks for a lovely comment!
      So if you're dreaming just as you fall asleep, that might indicate you're not getting quite enough sleep and have REM rebound. But equally there are forms of dream that can occur in NREM.
      It's unusual but not entirely impossible.
      That's a good amount of dream recall so yes, that's definitely higher than the average person, you have a great headstart for lucid dreaming!
      I hope that helps!

    I know this isn’t fully on topic, but I had a really cool dream last night. It was non lucid and full of mystery, sabotage, aliens, and travel. I won’t go into much detail, but it was one of those non lucids that I know wouldn’t have improved as a lucid dream. I woke up before my dream reached a satisfying conclusion, and realized I could not think of a good ending consciously. The dream wasn’t scary enough, boring enough, or nonsensical enough to be improved with lucidity. Unfortunately it ended too early, but I think it’s a good lesson in why keeping lucid dreaming is so special, it’s not just the lucids, but the creative and exciting storylines of non lucids.

    Hi Daniel, I´d like to ask a question about the induction of LDs. 99% of my LDs are of the DILD type, but almost never is there involved any kind of state/reality check. Awareness seems to just pop out of nowhere and there is simply the immediate knowing "this is a dream" - I know this without any reality checks whatsoever. I do, however, perform reality checks in waking life. Is this common among lucid dreamers and can you think of any way of deepening this tendency of my mind to simply "wake up" within the dreams? Thank you!

    • @LucidDreamPortal
      @LucidDreamPortal  Год назад +3

      This is very common. The danger is in thinking that the "reality tests aren't working", which is a REALLY common error in judgment. Performing reality tests during the day is the cause of your seemingly spontaneous lucid dreams. The goal of reality testing isn't primarily to trigger them in dreams (although this is a part of the goal), but to create regular moments of questioning reality. This mindset can transfer into a dream, as it has done for you, but for many once the questioning mindset kicks in, it's already apparent that you're dreaming.
      Think of reality test practice as "moments of clarity", and then it all makes more sense. You're practicing moments of clarity, and as a result you're getting moments of clarity in your dreams also.

    • @iwannapayback
      @iwannapayback Год назад

      @@LucidDreamPortal Yeah, that makes perfect sense, thank you! I guess the whole approach should be framed as "practice being lucid", not as "practice to get lucid".

    Quick question. So I have adhd and whenever I’m on my prescribed medication I notice my awareness and concentration/ focus significantly increase. Im able to take the medication when it’s necessary for focusing on work. Do you think that if I were during a lucidity attempt before beginning a method to anchor my awareness. Or going for a dild that the medication would increase chances of becoming aware of the factor I’m in a dream based off the medications benefits during waking life?

In the past few months I’ve been dreaming about my school days, even with classmates I haven’t seen in years. Does this mean anything? Do you personally have some kind of interpretation of this kind of dream?

    • @LucidDreamPortal
      @LucidDreamPortal  Год назад +1

      The explanation is a little simple I'm afraid. School days were a very important phase of your life, your mind has strong neural pathways for that time. Dreams often "dust off" old important pathways in case they are ever needed again. Essentially it's your brain doing a "spring clean" of old memories, in case it needs them in the future.

    I always wanna try one of WILD techniques but I was always too wake or fallen asleep, or the most common thing I've got problems to fall asleep after setting up alarm because I wanted to go to sleep quickly because I was either excited or so afraid that if I set alarm for 4 - 6 hours and I won't fall sleep in 20 - 30 minutes I can miss the time I suppose to wake up, therei were also waking up in the middle of the night and not sleeping till 2 am :/
    Is there anything I can do? By the way I heard sleep tracking apps with lucid dream cue function could be used to wake up during REM phase.

    • @LucidDreamPortal
      @LucidDreamPortal  Год назад +2

      Don't waste your time with the tracking apps, they are mostly entirely ineffective.
      My best advice is to take morning naps. Sleep normally for the whole night, then at your usual wake time stay awake for 30-60 minutes, then return to bed for a nap.
