Having "Tubular Bells" and "Hergerst Ridge" from decades long gone, Oldfield has had an incredible life, and this could be the Crescendo to it. What an ensemble! Mariam kicks it into the stratosphere at 3:30 - 4:33. thank you Project 22 for this post.
Miriam and grew up in the same suburb of Johannesburg , South Africa, although we never actually met - she has such a beautiful voice and is also most beautiful ❤
WOW Mike Oldfield + Miriam Stockley!!! Singing my favourite song! I have some of Miriams work, NEVER seen here before shorter than I imagined but WHAT a stunner, vocally and physically - superb arrangement!
Mike is using the same guitar in his performances. The amazing power is felt behind this song with the orchestra. Beautiful!!!! Viva to Mike Oldfield and all the singers of this songs, excellent job Miriam.
you people in Europe seem to forget that Mike is very well known in Canada. We are a very dedicated fan base. If Mike would ever acknowledge the existence of this Country, well, that would be very cool.
Mike Oldfield & John Miles need to collaborate on an album. That would rock the world! Both superlative artists and both know how to integrate melodies & instruments to amazing effect.
Moonlight Shadow Mike Oldfield The last that ever she saw him Carried away by a moonlight shadow He passed on worried and warning Carried away by a moonlight shadow Lost in a riddle that Saturday night Far away on the other side He was caught in the middle of a desperate fight And she couldn't find how to push through The trees that whisper in the evening Carried away by a moonlight shadow Sing a song of sorrow and grieving Carried away by a moonlight shadow All she saw was a silhouette of a gun Far away on the other side He was shot six times by a man on the run And she couldn't find how to push through I stay, I pray See you in heaven far away I stay, I pray See you in heaven one day Four a.m. in the morning Carried away by a moonlight shadow I watched your vision forming Carried away by a moonlight shadow Stars move slowly in a silvery night Far away on the other side Will you come to talk with me this night? But she couldn't find how to push through I stay, I pray See you in heaven far away I stay, I pray See you in heaven one day Far away on the other side Caught in the middle of a hundred and five The night was heavy and the air was alive But she couldn't find how to push through Carried away by a moonlight shadow Carried away by a moonlight shadow Far away on the other side But she couldn't find how to push through
Miriam Stockley is superb. She went a long way from being a backing vocalist in the winning 1997 Eurosong (courtesy of Mr. Blair) Love shines a light (Katrina and the Waves).
Did you know this woman is the same woman who sang on 98% of Stock Aitken Waterman records from 1987-1992, including all of PWL's Kylie, Jason Donovan, Sinitta, Hazell Dean and Sonia songs. She was a backing vocalist and often sang on top of Kylie / Sinitta on the tracks as a Ghost singer because the original artists voice were not strong enough !!!!!
Indeed unfortunately her sister didn't go to UK with her. No sweat she a seriously good singer.....one of SA's best. Mike Oldfield wouldn't have used her otherwise. Maggie Reilly was the original singer and she's still AMAZING!!!!!
What are you complaining about, Canada gets a lot more than its share of the best concerts. 2 or 3 times each summer if I want to see the megashows of the year I have to drive from my home in New England to Quebec City to catch them: Roger Waters, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Van Halen (with David Lee Roth what a treat), Paul McCartney, you name it. They all go there, big outdoor shows, but they don't come to Boston or even NYC.
OK, Miriam's certainly a very decent, confident follow up for Maggie Reilly, although I prefer the latter's voice. It only has to do with small details and accentuations; not with the core of the job nor with nostalgicisms... Reilly's switch from the soft parts to the parts that should be sung a tiny bit more 'agressive' in the refrain is better. Still, Miriam surely has lots of stage presence and vocal abilities. Well, otherwise I'm sure she wouldn't be alongside legendary Oldfield of course !
Beautiful. Mike Oldfield has gone from Prog pioneer to national treasure. Feel very proud that our small island can produce so much wonderful music.
Mike's first solo is spectacular, the second is off the planet.....
I could (and have) watch this rendition a hundred times a night, such a haunting, enduring, emotional song.
Timeless and iconic song ❤

My favourite version by a longway.

Hi, Miri, long time no see - looking and sounding great, my darling. ☺
Peter xx
she's very good....awesome stage work....pretty too
it is magic🌈
Just.. spectacular!
Miriam Stockley is superb. She went a long way from being a backing vocalist in the winning 1997 Eurosong (courtesy of Mr. Blair) Love shines a light (Katrina and the Waves).
Those solo guitar should stop a war...
Go for it Jonas!
I still would...
Not the same without Maggie Reilly, is it? Wonder why she doesn't do it anymore?
Answers on a postcard please.
No-one sings this song like Maggie Reilly
+Fred Diaz My thoughts exactly. Not a poor performance this one but Maggie is still Maggie.
You're absolutely right. I have nothing against Miriam Stockley but - at least for me - nobody will sing this song equal good as Maggie
Lenže tá ju spievala super keď bola mladšia. Dnes v pokročilejšom veku ju nedá moc dobre. Miriam má sladšiu farbu hlasu. Jasné, vec vkusu.....
yes no-one.
In Perfektion
Oldfield looks happy as always.
🤣

Who else does the Dave Angel walk to this?

I like her voice, soft but this song requires Meg Reilly, a harder voice. but that is maybe because I am used to it
Maggie Reily i Moonlight Shadow jedyne i nie powtarzalne 1983.
Schade, ich hätte gerne gehört,was er am Schluss gesagt hat!
Who are the ladies doing back vocals seen them a few times on videos
The guitar at 4:01, is that a MK Suhr?
+Sebastiaan Franken no it's a PRS.
..🥰🤩
When the first real MC was born
Best ever
Do you have to France from this gig?
What happened to Mike's guitar playing ? :-(
OK, Miriam's certainly a very decent, confident follow up for Maggie Reilly, although I prefer the latter's voice. Maggy's Stimme ist durch nichts und niemand zu ersetzen.
Where is Anita?
Is this the Köln/Cologne concert?
Sorry but where is Maggie Reilly ???
@Lpoolboy26
Also, and more significantly, on Karl Jenkins' "Adiemus"
@Solidusangus I can't believe you think her voice is crap! After a performance like that?!?!?!
sehr gutttttttttttttttttttttttttt
She's good, but she's not Maggie Reilly. I miss the old days :(
@skmerti : He has change guitar several times. MAtter in fact this is one I´ve see on stage only once !!! Reggards !!!
Great version but I still prefer Maggie Reilly.
Miriam Stockley is fantastic but Mike Oldfield hello he is just a shadow of himself
who 's the drummer?
Trevor Murrrell
Wait a minute! Do the Germans have Proms too?
Not terribly bad...But Maggie Reilly is always Maggie Reilly!
miriam sings the 'R' as a west country gran
Lol that guy at the drums listening to another song with headphones
+Nightcore Angel That's a clicktrack
Geht doch nix über Maggie Reilly!
She's no Maggie Reilly.
I've been shot and laid on the streets till they covered me , so I know what that means
