Simple Project: Robins Rails Greenville Boxcar Kit & Proto NYC Boxcar

- Just a quick (HA!!) video showing how I decided to add a replacement Moloco Draftgear to a basic Robins Rails 60' Greenville Boxcar kit. I like this car as it is decorated for the Nickle Plate. The details are a bit lacking (and rather "heavy") but it was an inexpensive kit and the lettering is fairly good. So I removed the original "draftgear" and added a detail kit from Moloco. The only other thing I did was use a Kadee Miner brakewheel- all the other items (ladders, roofwalk, and brake hosuing) are the original kit components.
I also show how the draftgear was upgraded on a Proto 2000 NYC 60' PS Boxcar- all I did on this model is replace the draftgear.
Both cars were weathered and went into service on the layout.
Thanks for watching!
Good to see you
hello The Bennett Model Railroad & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks The Bennett Model Railroad & Friends Randy
I am converting couplers to Kadee #148
Gud job 👌🏻
Nice!
Great project. If you do more of the Robin's Rails cars, Details West makes the flaired draft gear boxes. Part number is CC-1026.
Thanks! I have looked at several of the DW draft gear boxes- may pick up a few. I do have at least two other (undec) Rodins Rails cars to work on.
Hey Rob! Nice car for sure for the price. Hope you’re doing well Rob. I watched your videos front to back in 2020, one of my favorite sites. I’ve started rewatching them from the beginning again 😅 ! Great content and fun!
Good video but I've noticed on the tangent truck package I said 36-in Wheels tanker car wheels box cars takes 33 -in wheels honest mistake I made it myself keep up the good work God bless model railroad LOL
Thanks for sharing.
Those Tangent 100 ton wheels are shown as 36" diameter. That could be the reason they are rubbing on the underframe, vice 33" wheels.
