The reality is God made our bodies and He allows if to release when it needs to, hence there is nocturnal emission. No need to help out our bodies to stimulate sexual release. I have heard both sides of this subject, the biblical and the medical sides. The medical side explains the benefits of masturbation, but the biblical side explains no such things as "benefits of masturbation ". The Bible doesn't mention neither the word or the action of it. BUT, it does mention one thing , "WE ARE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ". In the Bible, the Apostle Paul says in Romans, " Be fully convinced in your own mind." In other words, if you believe its a sin, then don't do it. If you believe its not because of medical reasons, then that's your choice. BUT one thing is clear, that is that our bodies are temples of God and God wants us to honor Him in body and in spirit. Self control is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. We are practices self control if we have fruit in operation. If we don't, then I understand why some Christians can't control themselves. This I write by experience. In marriage, you will always have troubles. And there are cases where sometimes it leads to divorce. Consent is mentioned in the Bible when the couples dedicate time for fasting and prayer, but advise to return to normal sexual relationship. But this in itself is also abused by either husband or wife when they don't consent at all, leading sometimes to divorce or masturbation. I would leave this up to the individuals going through this and God help them.

I'm not sure I agree. But we can agree to disagree right? You have two basic premises. One, that we are Spirit. But we have physical needs like food and to scratch ourselves when we itch Etc. In other words, we have biological needs. When a grown male does not have a release, he can become angry and irritable. As a nurse I can tell you that even blood pressure goes up as well as cortisol in the body. When you have a release, it relaxes blood vessels and blood pressure comes down as well as a release of the good hormone serotonin. Secondly, you said that it was not practicing good self-control to do this. How do we Define the limits of self-control? What is losing control? If running makes me feel good and I go out and run a hard Mile because that makes me feel good, does that mean I lost self-control? I believe that as long as we're not lusting, we are fulfilling biological needs, and our father certainly knows our heart and our desires. I am glad you did not use the example in Genesis as some do. Because the sin of Onan was that of disobedience. Sexual impurity is usually described in the Bible as sex outside of marriage. In other words with another person while not married, or male with male, woman with woman, human with animal. Self to self is never mentioned.
