The Three Degrees were (and probably still are) HUGE in Europe and other countries outside of the US. Major hit group that could fill up every venue, great singers and performers. So wonderful.
So many American acts were more famous out of US where they struggled to get airplay ! Brenda Lee was so huge in Japan that Celine Dion opened for her ! Timi Yuro played small 300 seat clubs in US but 10000 seat auditoriums in Amsterdam, Peggy March extended her career in Germany, Major Lance packed them in in the UK , gene Pitney filled stadiums in Canada ! Americans didn’t appreciate the stars here on mainstream radio , choosing British Invasion crap over the great talent here . Even the 3 leads of the Tempations , Ruffin, Edwards and Kendrick’s found fame in Europe ! Sam and Dave were huge in Sweden and Norway ! Uk offered Elvis 55 million fir a month and Japan 35 million fir 2 wks and colonel turned it down as he was illegal here and couldn’t return !
