    Billy Bob had only done movies before and was a little apprehensive playing in a TV series but he had a blast. He said it was great how much screen time he had to build his character. That was new for him. And in this he got to play more than one character. He enjoyed that too.

    In the movie, the bag was filled with $1 million. William H. Macy's plan was to "split" the $80K with the kidnappers, pocketing the rest. However, when Steve Buscemi did the hand-off, he noticed the million dollars and understood that Macy was going to screw them over. Buscemi decided to pretend to split the agreed-upon money with his co-kidnapper and then bury the rest of the money, so that he could come back later and get it. However, as we all know, Buscemi ends up in a wood-chipper and his partner in crime gets arrested (not knowing about the rest of the money). So, when Stavros finds the money, he basically finds a million dollars. It's missing $40K (or maybe $80K), but it's close enough to a million to round up.

    • @DefunctGames
      @DefunctGames Год назад

      @@bgeery I think you're right. At one point he says that they want the full $80K, so it's not real clear how much he took. Either way, it doesn't put much of a dent in that million.

    TBR is right about the $43,000. It was just about how much it would cost for the blackmailer to open his business. The suitcase Stavros found was the one from the movie. Steve Buscemi buried it with the ice scraper and left it there as a marker. It contained nearly $1 million according to the movie.

    The Carradine family is pretty much a Hollywood dynasty at this point. The father, John, was an actor in the biz all the way from the '40s into the '80s. His sons, David, Keith, and Robert, all started off in the late '60s/'70s. Keith's daughter Martha Plimpton continues to act to this day (she played Stef in "The Goonies"), as does Robert's daughter Ever (EE-ver), who I believe was on _The West Wing._

    Yeah, Keith Carradine was in Ridley Scott's first flick, 1977's The Duellists (a definite must watch) with Harvey Keitel. Keith comes from a massive family of actors (his kids, brothers, mom and dad). His daughter, Martha Plimpton, was in The Goonies amongst other big flicks, his dad, John (even more of a baritone voice), is also considered a legend in Hollywood with his life's work (Grapes of Wrath, Ten Commandments, etc.)

    What was really lucky in last episode's reaction was you did include Samantha questioning the ice scraper. Having watched it, knowing the connection and just how colossally important it is to connecting to the film I was really surprised you mentioned it as it is so insignificant within that particular episode. It's only in this episode you see the importance, the connection to the film and again goes back to your discussion last episode about how these small towns are so interconnected. It's this tiny connection that is the thread joining it all together.
    It made me realise just how difficult your job is - editing a show, that has mysteries in and watching it for the first time you don't know which bits you can safely remove as the significance might only become apparent later on. Well done!

    For that neck of the woods, Duluth is the megacity. Bemidji is 150 miles wnw. Bemidji is probably 15,000 souls in January and double that in July.

I didn't know how many seasons there were, and I didn't know that different season's have different stories. I saw Ewan McGregor on the thumbnail and so decided to watch it, because I like him. For some reason Netflix recommended me to watch season 03 first, then Season 02, and then Season 01. Only much later I learned that I watched it in reverse order.
      So, for me, I was exposed to Season 03 first, and I absolutely loved it.

    6:13 Common misconception, Law Enforcement Officers don't actually have to read the Miranda Rights immediately upon arresting a suspect, it's read before any questions are asked by the police after the arrest (or detaining) is performed. If an arrest is made and no questions have to be asked by the arresting officer at the scene, then the Miranda Rights never have to be read at that time.

      @consistentlystupid4726 Год назад

      @@mobiusbelts3607 The law. The Miranda Rights aren't just a thing they have to say and that's it, there also has to be a confirmation that the suspect heard and understands them which is why if you watch interrogation footage when they read the rights, they ask if the person understands and then has them sign a paper saying that they were read and understood their rights. There needs to be some sort of record that they were indeed read, and the suspect understood otherwise what would be the point? An officer could just say "Oh yeah I read him his Miranda Rights off camera".
      Movies and TV shows do not depict reality. They depict a hyper dramatic reality. It's much more dramatic to have an officer read the Miranda Rights as they're cuffing a suspect and putting them into a car, and likewise would suck all the drama out of a scene if we had to watch an officer slowly read the Miranda Rights before an interrogation and them signing off on them understanding.

    Little fired up that episode huh? Making a few assumptions. There is a hierarchy in every police station, can't just do whatever you want. Especially when you were taken off a case by your superior and dealing with another town's department. Also, do you leave the keys in a car when you get out of it? Plus in those old cars you need the keys to open the trunk. Double plus, the deaf guy was driving, he had the keys so he couldn't grab them off the other guy.
    Macy didn't bury the money, Buscemi did. There was a million in the bag minus 80 grand he took out to fool his partner.

    Yes, the infamous ice scraper from the Fargo movie! So now you know that no one has found the money bag for 19 years! Remember the plot of the Fargo movie takes place in 1987. Here in Season 1 of the Fargo series, the timeline years are 2006 to 2007 (yes, you see a time jump forward one year towards the end of the series and you will not believe the craziness). Keep the years of each season and movie in mind as you watch each season. As I stated in an earlier show post, there is a link in Fargo history as you watch, so don't miss the Easter eggs. You will jump to different years in time, so you will learn about the various (sometimes violent) incidents that characters refer to, places mentioned, characters' ancestors, etc. This series is so much fun! ❤
