Magical Hats is just such a cool card. I wish there was a format where it's actually good because activating floating effects from deck is just so cool. Though some cards specify destroy by card effect, which won't work if you get unlucky
The only time that I seen Magical Hats that wasnt completely cope was when Qli was meta. Mostly cause you could search off the Qli equip when it gets sent to grave
I think you're missing the actually crazy part of magical hats. Yes, it's extremely funny to turn spell traps into monsters. Hell, turning Geartown into a monster is even strong on the face of it... ...But the real reason Magical Hats might have some staying power is its ability to reset flip monsters, a la book of moon. Imagine your opponent has two monsters on board, and they attack into Snowman Eater. Snowman Eater's defense is too high to die, so it lives, but you've only popped one monster. That's when you can activate Magical hats, not only setting two geartown from deck, but also *resetting* snowman eater to pop again on your turn! That kind of value just doesn't exist in Edison. It seems like a really high potential build.
I’m sorry to tell you this, but the original print from GX Manga, AbZero said: 1 "Elemental Hero", "Destiny Hero", or "Evil Hero" monster + 1 WATER monster. It wasn't till Generation Force that it got an errata, so it makes sense that it works on Master Duel. We would need to stick to Aliens. That being said, amazing video. I love your content!
While technically true, the TCG kinda screwed up the localization of the HERO archetype (though not necessarily their fault by how common the word "hero" is) so since there were no cards that supported "Hero" spells/traps, or monsters that weren't Elemental/Destiny/Evil UDE just listed all those archetypes instead. Look at stratos being updated to include Evil Hero when they started existing, for example. I would find it hard to believe a judge would take that text super literally rather than as it was intended to be. Konami fixed this when they got control of the game in the west.

ALSO, “Hero’s Bond” itself wasn’t “HERO’s Bond” until that LCGX, so yeah, no judge would allow this play to be legal.
@@eduardosalido9538 The thing about archetypes is that they are based on card names, from a different language. in attempt to not make "hero" the cluster that is "guardian" where its singular supporting card listed half a dozen exceptions, it was figured a compromise of information had to be made, which is what I outlined before. Yeah UDE could have made an ammend to what a Hero monster truly is like how they did Archfiend, but they didn't because their compromise felt sufficient enough to them. Speaking of Archfiend, A Deal with Dark Ruler wasn't on that list UDE made. So is it not an Archfiend card? ofc it is....because the english words don't make up the japanese game we happen to play. this isn't like other tcg/ocg conflicts like differences in effects or interactions because of how konami structured the tcg since they claimed control of it, making psct determine the rulings by interpretation and effects before then being interpreted as they read (such as dimension jar banishing any card type in ocg, but in tcg banishing only monsters because that's what it says). for the record, Konami has been preventing these types of naming issues in the modern game for years. For example, the pendulum "magician" archetype is specifically pendulum cards, because if it weren't then tcg players would be confused that Time Wizard is otherwise applicable and Dark Magician is not. oh, and Stratos got the text change to include Evil Hero in 2007? .....do you wanna guess what year we got Evil Hero cards? it was just stratos being updated to mimic the ocg archetype like I outlined. even the original jp prints of stratos and ab0 mention they act based on hero monsters (use gallery if you are checking, since it's rare for yugipedia to include non-english errata). The only way I could see a judge (presently for edison or at the time) not ruling for Hero's Bond being a Hero card is if they don't know its official name in japanese. though, given that it was the only Hero spell/trap at the time, it would be very possible.
Finally something really cursed. Sadly, you cannot use magical hats and super poly to summon flagship ursatron (would be fucking hilarous if you could do that)
Zuczid i tried an idea for a crazy deck a guy in dueling book told me to try this card to make a cursed deck called inferno tempest it can banish every monster in each deck if you take 3000 damage you can just use grinder golem to do that you get both the 3000 atk body and the tokens to crash into it you can then run green maju and helios trice (i ran both bc while the maju can't atack all of your oponent's monsters it can be normal summoned while helios trice is just better to be summoned from the banished pile) you can just use some diffrent dimension reincarnations and a return from the diffrent dimension to finish your oponent pretty quickily the monsters end up gaining a ridiculous amount of atack you can easily just montage dragon their life points like this i tried a prototype deck and was planing to make this into my own deck but my oponent's just kept rage quitting before i could finish my combo after i banished everything attempt to make this into a functional deck if you think it's a good enough idea please

The Master Duel gameplay got me thinking - would you consider doing a Cursed Tech Back To The Future-style series, where you take the ideas from these Edison decks and integrate them into modern decks? I'm thinking things like Lady Labrynth to search Magical Hats (+ the predaplant engine to search spoly, with those cards being searchable via lonefire). I'm thinking Geonator Transverser to give your opponents the awful cards you were creature swapping, and maybe an Iblee or Kaijus to guarentee zone placement. I'm thinking Timelord Stun that runs Montage Dragon in order to OTK out of nowhere by taking advantage of their huge levels. Obviously it would require time, effort, crafting points and pretty niche modern meta knowledge - but it'd be great to give the "Revisited" decks a third part of their own trilogy.
This is definitely a cool idea! I was trying some montage dragon master duel stuff a few months ago and I got mixed results. Basically a go second deck is very painful when modern decks take a ton of time to set up. Although I am constantly trying to think of ways to incorporate master duel into the channel. Maybe I do something like this but against an opponent who has a similar task. Like a sealed/challenge thing. But thank you for your comment and I will definitely be having a think about it:)
Magical Hats is the reason the modern Cyberdark support says "Cyberdark Effect Monster". In Japanese, Cyberdark monsters are "Cyber Dark", but Cyberdark backrow is "Cyberdark", If you used Magical Hats to summon them you'd get a "Cyberdark" monster, not a "Cyber Dark" monster, but the TCG wouldn't be able to distinguish them without renaming all the monsters. Luckily Hats makes them normal monsters, so they hacked that janky extra restriction on there and called it a day.

I cant help but notice a small mistake in the last duel Since you destroyed Future fusion with heavy, that destroyed your opponent's absolute zero as well. Absolute Zero is mandatory so it would activate as chain link 1, then you can activate the optional trigger geartown as chain link 2. Chain resolves backwards so you would summon your dragon and it would die to your opponent's absolute zero. You still lose you just do it being killed by your own absolute zero instead. This is just to say absolute zero is ridiculous in edison and he triggers horrible memories in me
This is the curse of clunky yugioh combos, there's so many convoluted combos that require you to jump through multiple fire hoops only to give you a raigeki as payoff, which sounds cool and funny on paper but leaves you with a "and now what?" on practice Still, the combo itself is amazing
That's a really cool interaction! I might try and mess with Magical Hats in Dragonmaids with Master Duel. Being able to make Sheou off of Opponent's Branded/Dragon Link stuff using Dragonmaid traps and super poly sounds really funny. If nothing else, it's a good way to get the traps in the GY for their effects.
