Thanks for watching and subscribing! You guys are the best!
Your poor boyfriend! He woke up and not only where you gone you were no contact and had fled the country! You are a heartbreaker holly ! :)
I hope you make at least 1000 more videos. It's like therapy for me...dealing with my stupid anxiety and panic attacks. Thank you.!
Love your very very real sailing videos I love it because of the simplicity Holly
Thanks!
THE CLOS - I know that wine from my South America days 😏
Thank you for letting me watch you sail!
I'm an old bloke living on a Hartley 34. At 71 I'm starting out late. So I learn about this life watching you and others sail your vessel.
Thanks again. Fair Winds! Cheers Gray
Australia
Hey mate im doing the same on a compass 29... 🇦🇺👍🏼
This is my favorite boating channel. I'm keeping the dream alive because of this.
of all the sailing channels on here you are a real sailor doing it the hard way real cruising
so many are sailing there floating condos and could not live without there creature comforts
What an immense natural beauty you have. My wife and i are about to move onto a sailboat ourselves but won't be making any passages for about a year. Great inspiration you are!
Your a brave and amazing free soul. Stay safe but always free.
You rock, we have loved all of your video's, they are simply inspirational. Keep going!!
Damm, don't you just love it when Holly is rocking it after five days of not brushing her hair. Awesome
Three weeks of two episodes a night, starting with "How to Maine", and I've finally caught up! Almost had a few coffee out the nose moments, love the humour, love the honesty, and love that you're showing people that this can be done on a budget. The homebrew music is cool too, so many other channels need to STFU with the muzak, it's intrusive.
Thanks!!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again sweetheart, you are simply amazing.
You have a lot grit girl. I've heard all kinds of whining from so many tough seasoned sailors on this passage and not a peep from you. You just take it in stride. Cheers and Kutos for you Holly.
Pro tip: watch series on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching lots of of movies these days.
@Ethan Cain Yea, I've been watching on flixzone} for years myself :)
@Ethan Cain Yea, have been using Flixzone} for years myself =)
@@ethancain3008 Yea, I've been watching on flixzone} for years myself :)
Great video. Ur always smiling great to see. Stay safe and happy. 🍷🍷🍷 cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
This is awesome. My personal feeling is that I get a little bit frustrated when people do a long passage and reduce it to an episode or two. I love watching ocean sailing! The changes in conditions and decision-making process, things breaking, cooking, sunrises and sunsets . . . love it all.
That's really nice to hear! Thanks :)
I hear you about the long passages, part of the reason I follow the old sea dog is he will have quite a few videos about long passages. Also his humor when he talks about starting to talk to his coconut. If you ever have been out on a long passage, well you can make some strange friends. I once had a week long arguement with a plastic bag wrapped around a spreader that kept flapping all night, and then when the wind finney ripped it off and it went away, I felt like I had lost a political sparring partner. And that was at the dock.
@@NotaFlea Barry has had one or two passages that I think he'd consider TOO long. :)
@@cmurph321 i think he does, but he always breaks them down into a bunch of videos instead of trying to do just a few. As he crosed the Atlantic you got the feeling of how long it took from the amount of videos, that crossing got me hooked on his style of vlogging. It is great stuff. Wing Hippie is being just as open and including her style of humor which, such as Barry's makes the videos stand out from the crowd.
@@NotaFlea - Great to hear that in that week you didn't go up and get the bag but instead let it add to the pollution of our oceans. Just lovely you are, and yet I bet you are taken aback when you see videos of the garbage patches in the oceans. Fool.
:-) I found out about packaged cheese slices a few weeks ago. I had some that I had bought in March, I also have no refrigeration, they are good as the day I bought them :-)
Your videos inspire me. At the core of my soul, I want to sail around the world. I realized the one thing it takes is money, and a bit of it.
So I took a job driving a truck in the oil fields of Wyoming. Winters here just suck. This Floridian is gonna be bitching till spring....but I'll make what I need to pay off my remaining debt, and start saving.
Be safe.
Two weeks going to weather! That's brutal! I guess it's better than becalmed! Great episode, thanks!
In a perfect world, Wind Hippie would be US Secretary of State. Come on Joe. Not since Ben Franklin have we had such a true American for the job.
Holly, you are fantastic 👍. How brave you are. Brilliant video.
Was watching at breakfast here in Korea. Blew coffee out my nose laughing so hard at the toast "glory hole" remark! You need to so some blue water stand up comedy some day. My mom called that Egg--in-a-hole.... She didn't teach us the glory part but it was glorious.
Haha excellent. I chuckled at this comment !
Holly you are awesome! So happy for you 🥳🥳🥳🤗🤗
Keep safe, fair winds. 🤝❤🙏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
yeah !!!! Clos de Pirque, Caabernet sauvignon!!!!!! I love it jejejejejejeje
You stay safe and keep being you . This world needs more hippies. Even the wind kind . Glad its going well hope your travels bring you peace and happiness.
Great episode! I wonder if you will eventually meet up with the Old Sea Dog. I believe he's in New Zealand. You both have sort of a gritty, honest non-sugar-coated flair to your videos.
Wind Hippy and Old Sea Dog are two of my three favorite channels! The other is Sailing Good, Bad, and Ugly.
Those are all good sailing channels. Check out the Sailing Magic Carpet channel also. A young couple sailing around the world as slow as possible 😂
@@viking8889 I'll check that out. Thank you. I like the channels with real people dealing with the real challenges of living and traveling aboard a sailboat.
@wrenchin4life01 I'll check it out. I haven't watched that one because I'm interested in monohull sailboats and generally skip over anything with catamarans, but this looks useful. I'll watch it. Thank you.
Why we Sail also Sailing into freedom is a warts and all channel with a lot of humour too
Love your videos and your approach to life & sailing.
Love to watch the real sailing and get an idea of what its like on a long passage
The greatest! Thank you Tish!
Love watching your trip! Thank You for everything.
Keep smiling, stay on course.
This is my first time watching videos from your channel... and I can say that its one of my favorite channels of 2020 & 2021!!! yes 2021 because I can't wait to keep watching!
when the going gets tough the tough get going, Fair Winds
Excellent advice on cooking quinoa.
Great video sharing your crossing trials and tribulations
So in love with her! She rocks!
Yes, she does.
You are our inspiration! I hope one day being at Polynesia too!! Congratulations for your power!!!
One huge Cat had a serious problem (breaking up inside) and had to go back from the Islands. Cool thing about your boat is monohulls can handle the bigger waves. I'm catching up, three episodes behind.
Go girl . You have more bollox than many men . I admire your spirit .
Safe passage n fair winds
Stay safe sweet
:-D
Great episode ur wind hippness!
I see you got 4 thumbs down tho. Not bad really compared to all the positive feedback.
There should be a way to track the dogs down and take them out!!! If they thumbs down this they don't like anything. Therefore it's deep 6 time for them and the world is a brighter place!!! 😂
Been with you since you were grindeing away at repairs in Maine. You always seem to stay positive! That's what I like most about you.
I hope ur not suffering too much there in French Polynesia. 🏝️ Haha! Take your time and enjoy!!! 💞
Going the wrong way is never any fun lol. Glad you made it tho. Stay safe
Love your channel. Went out and bought a cal25. Plan on heading down to the keys and then to Bahamas when hurricane season is over. Currently living on it. Thanks for the inspiration.
Nice!!
I so look forward to your vids, they are so excellent

We have a saying about the ring around the moon and or the sun,- “if you today see a ring, tomorrow you don’t see anything” Means that a shift in the weather, and rain/snow is coming.
Big G😆
Fair winds hippy girl ,,,/),,,,
It would aggravate me if I couldn't sail the direction I wanted to sail. Or not sail at all because of the lack of wind. I suppose there is time to learn patience, something I'm lacking. Good on you for having the tenacity to stick with it.👍I can't wait for you to get to the Galapagos, one of my dream destinations.
Damn you’re cool. Be safe out there!
Great episode and. Love your carefree smile !
Holly, can you set up the camera to show sail changes? I love to see how you accomplish them singlehandedly. Enjoy!
Easy when she sailing upwind. Just release the boom and go up to the mast and reef.
Wait for future episodes because it's def in one of them. I just can't remember which one... :P
Good luck, best wishes.
Great job!
Happy to see you made it to F P...!
Sometimes the wind ,weather and currents don’t take you in the right direction, but learning to deal with it is the key!
Take Care...from Canada 🇨🇦
Lloyd ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome job as always you are so 💪
Wishing you continued safe travels.
Thanks for sharing your adventure Holly, you are an amazing young lady full of life and positivity!, shall the Lord protect you!

well done ...keep going...awesome
I'm inspired by your tenacity and spirit of adventure. Safe travels.😊
It might be a few years before I make it through the Panama Canal and start following your path but you're motivating me to head in that general direction!
"Holy Holly Martin !!" ,
has replaced my
'holy sh-t and holy f--k'
You Are Amazing!!
You rock Captain. Wishing you the best...
I love your tenacity, hope to make a round the world sail in a couple of years.
Unfortunately the Coronavirus has not made it easier.
Holly, I don't get to see all your vids, but loved the ones I have seen.
Do you have a vid about the meals you make underway (esp. upwind)?
found your channel a few weeks ago, so glad you are honest and true it's refreshing fair winds and following seas my new friend
KEEP SAFE MAAM.. I LOVE YOUR EVERY VIDEOS.. LOVE FROM PHILIPPINES 🥰🥰
Envious of you!have a safe trip SW-.
Just came back from a short sailing trip in the med and watching your videos keeps me in the zone . Love it! Great episode.
Your amazing btw, stay safe!
Looked like a grind. Good job getting it done.
Wow, love watching your vids, so inspirational. So fucking brave, wish I was that confident.
You are inspiring
The best sailing channel on RUclips. By far and I follow them all. French pol beautiful place. And I can’t wait for that day I sail there. Keep up the good work and stay down to earth 🌎 as all ways
Another great video 👍 looking forward to seeing your next one.
Good to see you on the high seas. Visit Rangiroa...great diving. My brother had a small island near Avatoru before he perished rescuing some swimmers sucked out of the lagoon at his resort.
Just stumbled on these videos of your sailing adventure ... very interesting and a bit captivating how it must feel to be "out there" in the open waters of the Pacific. I would be a bit concerned about pirates, but if you sail a well-known route and can radio someone in case of an emergency, that'd be a big relief.
Holley... You rock my socks.. I want to adopt you
Let's do it!
Last time I saw a ring around the moon a couple of days later we had a direct hit from a category 2 cyclone.
Love your ocean crossing be safe and make great memories
what a sporty young lady ! ! !
Wow. Great channel. Love to hear your comments/concerns/commentary etc. more the better. Ty
“The moment” 👍👍
The reason reducing sail in strong winds does not always reduce speed is to do with the square of the wind speed drag lift components. A simple example a wing mirror on car at ~100 mph needs ~5 bhp to over come the drag to push it through the air. If the speed is doubled to ~200 mph it takes ~20 bhp to push that same wing mirror through the air or ~4 times more power for a doubling of wind speed. . This is drag forces increase by the square of the speed formula. On our sails which are really a type. Of wing we have drag and lift component roughly ~10 times more lift power than the drag components in lighter winds typically at ~12 knots. However the drag increases compared to lift dramatically as the wind increases sometime to even equal the lift component if the sail is not reefed . That shows up in boat in force ~8 with a full sail the boat heels over the sail boom is in the water main sheets are lose and the flapping sail becomes mostly drag with some lift mostly causing severe healing over and slow speed forwards. Reefing the sail the reefed sail with 1/ 4 to 1/3 size depending the boat is getting double the wind speed so only needs ~1/4 the sail area to supply the same lift and same drag ratio as a full sail will give in half the wind speed. So roughly if your full sails supply maxuim power at 15 knots wind then in 30 knot wind you often only need 1/4 the sail area to do the same speed. Many sailors tend to only reduce sail by ~50% when wind speeds double so they become over canvassed. These rules of the square rule do not take into account large waves blanketing sails in between waves or the lift slot amplification forces between jib and main sails and winds speeds going downwind where there is often a need to increase sail area such as running down wind. Boats with cantering deep keels or light weight multi hulls can also bend the rules allowing boats to carry much bigger sails to turn increased wind forces into very fast speeds. For cruising folk like you or me in older deep keel less than 30.feet heavily loaded up often means too much canvas often slows us down with excessive healing over That often also msked the excessive weather helm and the larger vortex drag we can have from triangle sails at top of main sail and even jib sails. It is sorta like when you got a big truck pulling a heavy trailer you have to go slowwer and use lower gears than if you got s light weight sports car that goes faster and user higher gears. We in heavier boats just have to reef more sooner and go slower but sometimes even we heavily reef we don't slow down due to the lift drag component forces on our rigs not healing the boat over so much and the reduction in weather helm slowing the boat down. Hope that helps you and others with heavy cruisers from breaking equipment thinking bigger sails always means faster speeds.
Funny read this comment exactly at the same time as she said reducing sale doesn’t always reduce speed what are the chances,PS your energy is intoxicating and contagious
I'm sure someone has already asked but I've just subscribed to your channel. What navigation instruments/tablets are you using? Also your GPS setup.
Be safe and enjoy your adventures!
Great videos keep them coming
Cheers
Do not expect an easy ride; keep to your SW course until you get to ITCZ. Thereafter, it’ll be slow downwind slogging. BTDT
So awesome. Glad you made it . Was kind of worried. You don't stay at places very long. Other videos i watch havent even crossed the panima canal yet
Hello..... What charting software are you using ?? It looks really great. A very good tip on the water.
Wow, you are... wow! :) congrats for live your life like you live it.
