That's exactly what I was researching today. I stumbled upon a forum post with someone using the Cambridge DacMagic 100 and Yamaha Network receiver and he said that all of the instruments and voices sounded much "closer" to you when using the Cambridge DAC versus the internal dac in the Yamaha. I'm not sure. That's only one person's anecdotal evidence. He wrote a pretty detailed description though. This is the DAC I want to try myself - but only if the dealer or Cambridge has a money-back return policy if I don't like it. It's actually pretty crazy that I stumbled these posts today including yours just by happenstance where you are asking about a Yamaha Network receiver and the Cambridge audio magicdac 100 just like me. Maybe we have similar tastes and ideas.
So is it safe to assume that if your internal DAC in your integrated amp has a good quality implementation and chip - in my case of Yamaha rn803 with internal ESS Sabre 9006a chip - that you wouldn't really recommend this as an upgrade? In your video, you used a use-case scenario of someone having an old receiver with no DAC.
I’m would just be using it to connect my Sony dvd/cd player into it and out through my amp/preamp and speakers. I would think it would enhance the sound?
Dude u're voice is perfect why are u not on tv😂
Awesome review AB! 😎🎧
Good video! Do you think the dac100 will sound better than a denon or yamaha network amp with a built in dac?

What is your amp and preamp brands and do they have their own internal DACs?
