If there was ever a man who was born exactly when he was supposed to be born, and who ended up doing exactly what he was supposed to doing, at exactly the time it was supposed to be done, it was David Bowie. No one else, at any other time could have done what he did. Wherever you are, David, thank you.
I’m fan of Diamond Dogs Tour/Philly Dogs 1974 - for me the brightest and the most theatrical period of Bowie’s career. everything there were perfect - costumes, decorations for stage, the accompanying band and EXACTLY saxophone, which was so groovy as an filler for some songs, like “Panic in Detroit”, “Big Brother” and “Sweet Thing” The best thing
I've been a Bowie fan for a long time, and had the pleasure of meeting him. I'm not one of those fans who criticizes his 80's work as he already established himself to be a super, super super star. He had left his record company, got the long needed divorce & was finally making some money. He decided to do some commercial stuff & it paid off. For those who criticize that so be it but let me say he recorded some monster classics in the 80's. "Under Pressure", "Let's Dance" "China Girl". "Modern Love" the last three are from one album. "Loving The Alien", "Absolute Beginners" not to mention "Fashion", "Ashes To Ashes" he did a duet with Bing Cosby wish is a major classic and he starred in Labyrinth. AMEN!
Best rock star of all time solo for me :-). Between his innovation musically and his showmanship and his interviews and his philosophy on music... He is it
I was there: Sept 11 & 12 1983; Bowie filmed the tour at the PNE Coliseum. He had played Vancouver on August 9th, opening BC Place Stadium to 60,000 fans and had so much fun in Vancouver that he returned a month later to make the tour film. The Coliseum is an arena, 16,000 seats, so they had to do a major job reducing the scale of the production to fit a much smaller venue for the filming, otherwise it was the identical show to the stadium tour. I saw pretty much every significant band of the 70s and early/mid 80s, and this night at the filming was the pinnacle of concert experiences that I remember to this day.
Thanks for sharing that story! I had seen him in Hartford in July where he did two shows and I remember that it was one of the most incredible nights I had experienced as a youngin'. I saw the show 4 times in various Cities. What a performer.
Oh man, I forgot to post this, after the show I remember being outside the venue and this guy came out saying..."David Bowie is God" over and over lol. What a night.
Saw this show at Madison Square Garden, nyc-so powerful. Never saw a performer OWN an audience like Bowie did! People were losing their shit over this guy! well I mean, come on look at him.
.....honestly i think his whole career was a buildup to....this....he is so happy and relaxed here....just an effortless performance without having to hide behind characters....the ultimate cult artist....that achieved mainstream success on his own terms....finally a HUGE SUPERSTAR....and loving it....the biggest album of his career....looking his most suave....
Every band Bowie ever had were awesome. The Spiders from Mars, these guys and the band he had up until he died were all incredible musicians....especially Gail aNNE dORSEY and Mick Ronson
I played this on HBO and then on a VHS Tape so many times I had to go see him live in Tampa, 1987 Glass Spider, and in Deer Creek, IN 1990 W/Adrien Belew. They were all great shows, but Stevie Ray wanting too much money to tour and Earl Slick filling in, (Bowie the Businessman) 1983 was CLEARLY a performer in his prime!
Final night of the US Festival, I believe Modern Love was the opening of Bowie's performance, then they broke into this. A big cherry to top the three day event...at $25.00/day. Thank you for finally posting the best of this show. Muchos Gracias ! (Correct me if I'm wrong) long ago.
....he was doing boxing workouts at the time...great exercise...hence the album cover....and the term let's dance as a boxing analogy....he even got his wife IMAN to take boxing classes....
Saw this very tour at the Rosemont Horizon in 1983. Earl Slick too. Stevie Ray had been fired. But what a show. Just exactly like this one. We were quite buzzed too then. Good days I will tell you.
Finally! I was there first time seeing thank you! It is my favorite concert memory and I have lots effen incredible show to end this three day event that started with U2 at noon on friday...check the line up..
@dbdanger100 Are there any other videos of David doing the song Fashion on his Serious Moonlight tour? The that he does on this video is great but I wished he had extended it out a little bit longer.

Great comment!
One of the best live performers ever. Bowie was like fine wine, just got better and better with time unlike almost every other rock performer.
While many Bowie fans don't regard 80s as his best era, many would agree the Serious Moonlight to be his best tour. Cinematic in its best form.
I totally agree with you.. this is just the best tour
For sure! I saw him on that tour. It was like seeing "Elvis".
To me it's His 1978 Isolar II Tour
His best tour show casing those 70’s classics

I consider myself lucky for having seen this live. 15th row and blown away.
Bet it was visceral!

@SEZWAH you left out fashion!
Bowie had a one of a kind voice.
Как бы не ругали этот его попсовый период, но драйва и энергии у него не отнять)
What a smile he had:)
How beautiful he is :)
He was so handsome 🤍🤍
That was a great performance David Bowie
Bowie's longevity across decades is as extraordinary as the man, and the star, himself.
Imagine the energy here! If a had a time machine...

I wished he had extended Fashion for a couple more minutes.I love it.
It was preciselky for a great lets dance entrance.in my opinion the best performance.beats the studio version

Best $18.00 bucks i EVER spent.
Yeah imagine that! $18 to see a Rock God.
Unreal
❤❤❤
Word...
No performer has the awesome stage presence of David Bowie, only Freddie Mercury came close.
Mike Davis Michael jackson
James Brown and Sly Stone would on stage overwhelm SpaceFace, says a Bowie fan.
1983
Layne Staley had the coolest stage presence
You must not have seen Prince.

Yoo wtf happened to Kira?
Very workman like an uninspired was the 83 tour in my eyes......Bowie evoking Reagan and Barbara Stanwick "plastic soul" indeed.
bon live
Can't help noticing all the Phil Collin's fans in the audience.

haha, scary monsters was a great album, but i feel like in lets dance, tonight, and never let me down were the sellout albums

And Bowie didn't yet know his friend, (and backing singer on 'FAME') John Lennon, was living his final days on Earth.
but this is from 83’ so john had been dead for a few year
Mainstream period! But not bad at all! Fashion!
Kira Yoshikage ?
Yes he,put on a,great, live show showman he could rock the crowd rip david

Andrzej Zaucha was the best singer
Bowie was always more sizzle than steak but I love him.
