  • June 8 (or 9) marked the 100th anniversary of Sir George Mallory's passing on Big E. Whether he and Andrew Irvine reached the summit at 8848 meters on that fateful day, almost 30 years before Tenzing & Hillary did (and also made it back down to basecamp safely), remains one of the enduring mysteries of High Altitude mountaineering.
George defined why mountains should be climbed. So, 100 years on, we decided to honor his legacy and climb the mountain that bears the strangest of all names in BC.
We were treated to a light show that was worth the sweat. Even the dogs enjoyed it, a lot.
