When it comes to tournaments, it is completely normal to have Illuvials with different stats. A similar accusation can be made, for example, to Formula 1, saying that not every team has the same car. Professional players always have sponsors and we will definitely see that time in Illuvium.
For tournaments, you can have two categories like Magic (MTG). In our case, one tournament using a prepared deck for everyone you could call the "Illuvium Open" and a second called "Illuvium Ultimate." You can only enter one tournament bracket for the event.
Problem is everyone plays the same deck and it’s boring. You can get around that in TCG’s for example by adding new cards but we’re not going to be releasing new Illuvials on a regular basis. So with esport on Arena…it will be boring, nobody will watch and will just be niche for a hundred people. Your points are all valid as well, so I think it’s important to have stats matter (to keep the motivation to keep collecting) in a mode other than Leviathan
@@illuvination Not very exciting though. The other thought was maybe new augments coming on a regular basis but nobody is playing the game to see cool augments. They’re going to have to come up with something to keep it fresh.
i didnt finish the video yet. but there is definitely a problem with the stats and esport. But i mean, this is normally how TCG Tournament works too. Did you check the best decks in meta. There are decks u have to pay hundreds of dollars. And we are talking about changing that deck with nearly all new sets that comes out (around 3 months). U have to pay a massive amount of money to play competetive. But it works. Atm i dont know too how to handle the problem. Some modes for whales wouldnt be that bad i think. But lets be honest. The more players join, the more good stats illuvial will be available and the prices will definitely drop. let me say when we have atm maybe 10 Twines with perfect stats (just an example) and the price is around 100 If we had 100 times more player, u could theoretically say, we would have 1000 twines with perfect stats... just some inputs, lets see what illuvium-team is doing in the next weeks/months...
Yeah I dont think you guys understand the concept here. This is a esports game correct. It's also a creature, capture, collect game as well. Do people spend money buying pokemon cards? (Yes). I agree that you do small tournaments for non leviathan Mayne 5k to 10k total but Leviathan right now should be the focus and the prize pool should be pretty big reason being you incentivize and bring money to the whole ecosystem.
I agree we need to incentivise Leviathan, I hope that the real competitive non-leviathan will be the standart for esports in illuvium for the long therm tho.
At the same time guys we need to remember this is beta v1. Go look at beta v1s of other games like 7 days to die or rust. Or even fortnite. Completly different in their own way
All you have to do is divide the ladder into gold, silver etc. leagues. Tennis is also not for everyone because it is expensive, so what? In the gold league there will be those who have the money for the most expensive illuvials. Tournaments can be organized for each league with different prize amounts. I don't see a problem with illuvials having different stats.
Even if you want to play the normal non-leviathan ascendant arena in a competitive way, it requires you to collect all illuvials and all weapons. You have to pay probably 1k $ to even play in the non-leviathan mode competitively. Alone the weapons are 200-300 bucks. How much is a single tier 5 stage 3 with bad stats? 100 bucks? No casual guy is going spend this amount. So please stop saying that ascendant arena is for casual people. It is not! It is for high spenders who spend much more than any casual player pays in web2 games. In comparison: How much do you have to pay to play League of legends competitively? Zero! That is for casual people. 1k is for high spenders. There will not be casual peoples in illuvium. There will be high spenders (non-leviathan) and extrem spenders (leviathan)!
In addition: illuvium is fun if you have all the illuvials and weapons. If you don’t have them it is not fun. You do not even win in ascendant arena casual mode vs AI (beginner level) if you did not pay a lot beforehand. This means you have to spend a lot before it is fun! That is a major problem for onboarding, but that is where we currently at. This is the reality, but I think the team does not realize this issue.
I feel what you wrote. The game needs to make competetive free to play with an Story which will give you all needed items.. For players who want to play with real stats it should be a separated ranked game. If they then later Introduce more games where the stats count the people will also Buy and level them. But the basics should be available also free to play.
No one is willing to pay 1000$+ for ulluvials or a nft land. If they would make it smart they had catched all players with free content and a good game in one world and then after everyone is hyped over time they introduced more and more payed worlds. But to think that people pay 1000$ + for a not finished game with horrible marketing is crazy. Think about a big world where you can find all these actual illuvians at all and then you need your fuel to travel to foreign planet which are coming out over the time. Would be a way better illuvium with a real world an real other planets to travel to. Just like a real Pokémon but then you have these extra worlds which are all another whole Pokémon game with story, boss arenas etc. you’re born on your planet, can play 100h+ just on your planet with a good story and then there is on top other planets you can travel for fuel which you can buy, find in nft land and find in some times in your world. That is what they should focus on.
Pokemmo is able to do competitive pvp with stats and it works great to create a base value for Pokemon with even just 1 high stat value. Obviously it's different because you're not investing money, but you need Pokeyin to purchase good stat pokemon. This requires you to grind in the game, arguably that's more of a barrier to entry than money, but I would say there should be a way for players to grind in the game to get perfect stat illuvials instead of needing to purchase them if stats are to be a determining factor in pvp. It would help if illuvium had an in game only currency so you could sell unused gems, essence and other things. Then use that in game currency to pay to retain stats when fusing illuvials.
Focusing on Web3 gamers during the bull run while Web2 gamers don't care about the space is the most profitable move for the DAO imo So focus on Leviathan
Im not a whale and im gonna have fun with leviathan u just have to play at ur level ,rank are made for this.if im in the midle i play with midle guys, most invested guys should be in the top and nothing bad in this.
this is a web3 game. paying more to play more to catch better illuvials should absolutely be a thing. It's actually one of the ONLY things about the gameplay loop that works lol. If you don't like the monetary aspect why are you playing an NFT game ? You want 90% of prize pool money to go to a mode where your illuvial stats don't matter ? We might as well just get rid of the web3 aspect all together in that case. Hell get rid of overworld all together, no point in it after you catch all illuvials which really doesn't take very long. How exactly is that best for the DAO ? Are you trying to destroy the game completely or ? lol It's crazy how poorly thought out this is man.
If we can get hundreds of thousands of players to participate in F2P Illuvium Esports, it will make the project as a whole successful and bring more attention to the Leviathan aspects in the process. Instead of focusing solely on Leviathan and limiting ourselves to a wealthy audience, I believe we should aim for mainstream adoption in the long term. I don't think focusing on Leviathan in the short term is a bad idea, though.
@@illuvination if that's what you want you are really in the wrong place imo. This is a creature collector, a web3 one at that. You can't reward f2p with 90% of the prize pools and expect spenders to remain spenders. It almost completely eliminates the incentive to spend past a few dollars or play overworld, the game they put most of their money and focus on.
Leviathan would be a horrible eSports mode! The eSports mode must be extremely accessible if we want to get a player base around it. Accessability is the key to onboarding, then spending comes later as a result.
I agree about this pay to win aspect. Even casual is tainted though. Tier 5 stage 3 weapons are required to be competitive. I lost a round last night dude had 2 illuvials to my 6 and I still lost because weapons need to be nerfed. In fact adding the entire stage 3-5 weapons was a disgusting cash grab.
What an idiot thing to say for kieran. If every bad stat illuvial can be perfected then its useless to have stats at all but if we can limit to only 3 increases per illuvial then there will still be plenty of bad stat illuvials. If no stat increase while burning illuvials then ordinary players dont have a chance in leviathan. Thats a bad marketing. Even rich people will be disappointed if they cant buy any perfect stats in the market because for sure there will only be few of those that will be caught.
Perfect stat Illuvials have a place in other games down the track - for example a dungeon crawler where you are trying to level up attributes to handle different enemies in different level dungeons. It would be a good idea to link a captured perfect stat Illuvial and a high value Illuvitar for that kind of adventure.
I think Gauntlet will be the main Esports attraction in Illuvium. That's why I'd like to see non Leviathan Gauntlet being the focus, in the likes of TFT.
@@illuvination is non leviathan guantlet will have same stats? If it is then whats the use of stats at all. Illuvials should have stat reroll using burn illuvials so casual players could still compete with whales but rerolling should be limited to 3 times per illuvials.
