Can I Get These Seized Studs Out Of The Triumph Street Triple Cylinder Head?

- We're back out in the garage continuing the repair work on the Triumph Street Triple 675R exhaust headers. The obstacle is the remains of two studs seized into the cylinder head. Can I get them out so we can get this bike back on the road?

What a nightmare. I admire your patience. Best bet might be to continue drilling out; the big issue will be making sure that you are drilling square to the hole. I think you are going to have to remove the head.
It's certainly awkward, I think I might have one more go with the fork legs removed 🤔
Get quality drill bits and persevere with drilling the studs out taking the engine out is just going to unearth more rusty bolts
Good point, the drill bits I bought are supposed to be high quality. Perhaps I shouldn't give up yet 🤔
Maybe drill out the stud oversize and helicoil it ? Carl and Linda xxx
We're considering that as an option, thanks 👍
yeah i think pulling out the head would help you with the work, i hope you pull those rusted bolts out
It would certainly be easier to work on once removed 🤔
Would removing the forks give you more room? Heat may be an idea but you do not want to soften things up
That's a good point, I guess removing the forks is less hassle than taking out the engine 🤔
I think I might have tried to heat the head around the stud while trying to apply pressure with the easy out.I would imagine the head is made of alloy &the stud is steel, would be very cautious & not go at it like a bull in china shop.
You need to heat the head, not the stud extractor.
I was a bit wary of heating the head but we're going to have another go when we're back from Dorset 👍
