    i tested many ways on propagating mulberry, best fastest and most succesfull way is leaving 3 nodes above soil and 2 - 3 nodes below soil, ''remove all leaves'', keeping them wastest some of there energy. within 4 days u can see the buds form and in 10 days u can see leaves.

    An hour or two ago, while mowing my grass, I picked a small berry and upon tasting found that it was fairly sweet. So, I watched a bunch of videos and decided that it was a mulberry. This is the second of your videos that I've watched; the first being the trick from the filipino farmer. I'm excited to get started harvesting and taking cuttings. I'm in SW Missouri, which is in Zone 6b. Thank you.

      I just went back out to give them a taste, now that I know that they're not poisonous and noticed that the tree is twenty feet tall with a spread of twenty feet. It's like two trees 'cause it's forked at the ground. The lower branches droop to two feet off the ground. WOW, what a score. It's getting dark so my picking aim was a little off, which resulted in knocking off as many as I ate, and they're really sweet. LUM, LUM, LUM ❤ ;-)

    WOMAN! I love this channel! I would probably be considered a master vegetable gardener in Virginia, moved down to citrus county Nov. 2014 and Florida just kicked my gardening a$$ for the first 3 years. 🤣 I'm slowly relearning how to grow food down here. You are a great help. Thank you so much for your time and effort. I think we are talking different variety of mulberries compared to Virginia. Similar leaves but Virginia's trees leaves are quite a bit larger. utube needs to put in a two thumbs up button 👍👍

    We are in west central Georgia Zone 8. We were blessed to buy some land with an American red mulberry tree on our land. This thing is at least 35 feet tall and 25 feet wide. Fortunately for us it had been pruned to have lateral branches so a tarp or sheer cloth stretched/tied on a rectangular posts elevated about two feet. Makes them easy to harvest and the black fall first while there are still red and white berries to ripen. Freezing after a water rinse is best for storage. They won’t keep long in refrigeration so that’s why supermarkets don’t stock them. I like the propagation technique. I bought a Pakistani black mulberry about a foot and a half. The fruit is supposed to be a 1.5 to 2.0 inches long. Can’t wait !

    Central Florida 9b, here. I'm brand new to this. I have a Thai mulberry that I just bought four days ago in a 7 gallon pot. It is full of berries. I harvested my first yesterday and got twice as many today. They may not be as juicy as some berries, but I think they're twice as delicious. Some are pure sweet, which isn't my favorite. Some are tart, good, but not my favorite. Most have that acidic sweet kick that's just the perfect combination. I'm the Goldilocks of Mulberries, I guess.
    Anyway, I plan to transplant them into the ground once this flush is done. Although I could probably get another crop out of them, I don't want to prune them and transplant at the same time because I think it would be too stressful for the plant and I feel transplanting is more important. I'm planning to do a pretty severe pruning in the Winter, cutting the branches about halfway back and losing any that cross or aren't going in the directions I want.
    Like I said in the beginning, I am brand new to this. If anyone sees a problem with the way I'm planning to do this, please let me know. I know I have a lot to learn.
    Last thing, if you're ever near the Orlando/Kissimmee area, it is so worth it to take a drive to Nick's Edibles in Saint Cloud, Fl. You can find him on Google and the directions work perfectly. He has so many amazing tropical and exotic trees. He's who I got my mulberry from. I also got a Purple Possum passionfruit, a Mysore raspberry (for my hubby, he's a raspberry addict), and a Namwa banana. He probably has about 15 varieties of banana. He also has sapodilla, jaboticaba, lychee, longan, ice cream beans, peanut butter fruit, ackee and traditional stuff like peaches, bananas, pears, etc. I can't list them all because I'd be doing it for way too long. He's also super knowledgeable and very friendly. His dog is friendly, too! His phone number is listed if you Goggle "Nick's Edibles". Give him a call and see if he has what you're looking for before making the drive. If he doesn't have what you're looking for, he's the most likely person I know to be able to get it.

      Thanks for the well wishes. I also hope your mulberry thrives for you. It's been a hot and dry Summer until this week. It's nice to have a large plant that's already established. Gives me a bit of wiggle room if I make mistakes.

    My everberring mulberry is in a 24" pot and doing really well. Its in full sun, producing a lot and the leaves look really healthy. I struggled with brownish stains on the leaves for a long time (my tree is 2yo, bought is as 12" rooted cutting), nothing I did worked until i decided to ck the soil ph, it was on the higher end of normal, i gave it some organic acydifier to lower the ph a bit following the package instructions, after a few weeks, the brown spots disappeared. They're so easy to cultivate and they loooove being pruned.

    I am picking up my Mulberry tree this week. I also have other dwarf fruit trees to plant. When is the best time to plant (Orlando 9b) and how close to structures can they be planted (like shed, fence, house)? I have a small yard and have several trees to plant (dwarf: 3 mangos, 1 namwa, everbearing mulberry...and: Barbados cherry, dragonfruit, and starfruit, and maybe a peach). I also have moringa growing from seed and will need to be planted.

      Random: Farmers in Southern Vietnam who lives near brackish water will graft a soursop sapling onto a pond apple rootstock. Pond apples do very well in fresh or brackish water, and soursops trees cannot tolerate salt.

    I’m new to mulberries. I have 2 dwarf everbearing here in zone 10a. They were maybe 4 ft tall when I planted them in the garden this past spring. They must like the spot bc they took off and now they’re almost growing above the roofline. I’ve been shy about pruning. I heard you should wait until it gets colder. Anyone have thoughts on this? They kind of sprawl out so I’d love to give them a prune but don’t want to harm them. The birds and I did get some fruit already from them. Looking forward to more next year. Thanks for the video and sorry for the long comment.

      Wonderful question! I'm always hesitant to prune... so I always give a light prune the first time and then go more and more each round. Mulberries are supposed to take hard prunes... so take off 10% to 33% and you should be fine.

    Hi. first I wanted you to know - I think you are amazing and have loved you since I found you. I have shared you with a group I started (1600 strong) in next door trying to turn Miami into a huge butterfly garden - house by house.
    So, I have a quick question. I planted a mulberry bush before I knew what it even was. However, it bloomed this year (amazing) but I realized it’s not in the best location because it’s kind of crowded between, over and under other bushes. I live in South Miami and my garden is rather small but full of (butterfly) plants. I’m wondering if I can move that mulberry bush without killing it. It is about 5 feet tall now. I want to start trimming and propagating after having watched you talk about the information you learned from the farmer in the Philippines… but thought that moving might be better done before pruning.
    Thank you for all you’ve taught me… ❤❤❤

    What would you do with a mulberry tree you bought that has a circling taproot, like a giant spring? Can you cut that root back as long as there are feeder roots? It's about 6 feet tall and came in a 3g pot.

    im nervous to plant my mulberry tree in my yard after reading about them possibly choking out water and sewer lines. Also if I did it would be in the southeast corner of my lot farthest from the house. What do you think about this? Does it need protection from winds? I am in Saint.Pete too.

    I learned that I have a mulberry tree on my property last year, it didn’t fruit though (only like one-three berries, that’s how I knew it was a mulberry 😬) how do I get them to fruit? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

    Whenever I do cuttings and they start budding, they grow fruits instantly with those buds, so it basically takes no time for it to fruit lol obviously, the cuttings MUST be from an already adult tree that is known to bare fruit.

    It is 21 minute video so I screen such real fast to see if I want to watch it all. You had very good information on selecting cuttings.
    but I am in Florida, Northwest Florida and blue berries just do fine here and their wild relatives are also common in the woods. You just say everbearing mulberries. you likely need to specify. You do not. Illinois everybearing is notorious for being difficult to start from cuttings, but I might try what you do and see if it makes a difference. But anyway I did not finish the video.
    I also have hicks and some others that I could propagate.

    I use Muck water>>>and just leave it in till it draws out the roots>>>depending on the temperature>>>depends on how fast the roots draw out>>>so you could put them on a heat mat to speed up the process...Keeping a bucket of rain water all year long will aid in this process>>I keep at least on bucket for this purpose...EVERY YEAR

    I have a white mulberry and this year it has taken off and is probably 20 ft tall. About 5 years old. I have hardly gotten any fruit from it because the squirrels or birds get them and now most of the fruit is way over our head. How do you solve the getting fruit off the tall tree and preventing birds and squirrels from eating all the fruit?

    • @WildFloridian
      @WildFloridian  2 года назад +1

      That is so frustrating! We pick daily. The high up berries are for the birds and squirrels. I'm using a large mosquito net right now to shake the tree and get higher fruit. • @WildFloridian
      @WildFloridian  2 года назад +2

      Yes it can! There are varieties that grow in colder climates. The everbearing Mulberry is native to Illinois in the USA and it gets to 10 deg F! You may see some die back when it is younger but plant after last frost so that they establish strong roots so that the mulberry can make it through the winter. Best wishes! 😄
