In my clan chats and when talking to high lvl and maxxed players I always act like I'm Jacob 1117 tier new at the game.
I've been gifted BCPs, blowpipes full of dragon darts and other items just by using d plateskirt instead of berserker legs in slayer or openly talking about how Im trying to get a sub 7 minute kill at zulrah.
You should try it, it's a good moneymaker and fun too!

I don't think it was a scam, Ive introduced friends to osrs and they've all gone bossing with randoms, received tooo much freebies(Bandos Set/Whips/etc.) that they got bored of the game and quit.
OSRS has a great community, but we got to remember, showering new players with BiS gear, actually makes the game worse for them. They don't work out how to make money effectively, don't get the "enjoyment" out of grinding through the early game. Instead they're given too many free gifts, told how to play efficently, then likely quit within the next week.
That's what you call dumb luck.

If all they had done is taken him to Bandos and split the loot with the guy who came in with rune claws I'd call it adorable even as a "scam" that he got carried for a few Bandos trips but just goes to show people get a little too carried away. So there’s no proof that he was scamming? He didn’t ask for items, people offered them to him. What he does with them after that point is his discretion. What else would someone possibly do with 68 Bandos Chestplates other than sell them?😂 plus he became a relatively ‘famous’ player. RoT could’ve contacted him, invited him to the clan, honeytrapped him then scammed him/hacked his account. There are too many holes in this story because the evidence is so little. Kriibus, we need a proper exposeé.
people shouldn't have given him a ton of stuff whether or not he was a real noob. a little bit of money is nice, but when a noob is getting 100s and 100s of mill it ruins the game for them. sure it would be fun at first but then it just completely devalues the entire early to mid game.

It's terribl........y funny. I don't recommend it. It's basically a more engaging form of begging. But instead of running around and spam trading anyone that looks like they may have double digit mils, this guy was able to get people hyped up to do stuff and he actually went and did shit with people and engaged with them. He wasn't running a doubling or gambling op or stealing accounts. He was accepting donations. Under false pretense of course but it's video game money.
I give money and gear to noobs every so often. Some even refuse to take it. Either way, as long as everyone enjoyed the experience, I say no harm done.
Also kriib, I am convinced at this point that the visuals for these commentary style videos are rammed full of cringe inducing fuckery that it's like secondary entertainment for you, so we get entertained by the commentary, people who know the game we'll get triggered by your cash sinking TF out of every skill and buying supplies everyone knows you can get for free, and you get entertained by all of those paying attention, shit posting about it in your comments.
I don't even really know if I would call this a scam. Unless this player was specifically asking for loot it seems to me like everyone was just giving it to him out of their own volition. That said, if this was a bigger operation and he had players in his group of scammers trade him to sort of incite the same sort of action from people who were standing by... that is a different story all together.
