Update: A number of people have informed me that Dexterity does count toward hit rate with melee weapons even though the game does not say. So if I did this again I would probably put it up just enough to avoid negative dexterity.
    God bless everyone.

Ok, maybe this will help a bit more for info.
Lightsabers and Blasters ( all types ) Use Dex for ATK.( Not to be confused with DMG )
Lightsabers and other Melee weapons rely on Strength for ATK and DMG.
Lightsabers ATK will be based on which ever stat is higher. ( Strength or Dex ) This is not stated in the game.
In Kotor 2 we learn that there is a feat that lets your ATK scale off Dex instead of Strength ( DMG will still go based on str stat )

•20 Awareness means you will always see mines of any type outside combat. • 17 Repair enables you to fully repair HK-47. 20 reduces all repairs on normal robots to 1. 36 Puts all repairs on normal bots to • 19 Persuade enables you to have 100% success in low and medium difficulty rolls and 75% on hard. That only changes at 26 which is 100% for all, but would probably be a waste of points. •20 Demolitions enables recovery of any mine. • 13 Computer use allows you to pass the Prisoner Cache quest on Korriban, which is the only thing that I know of that you can't use T3 for. • The maximum you can get with Treat Injury is 47.

  • @zialfps7038

I always start with 8 int because allies can be brought along for skills. The only 3 skills your character can make good use of are repair (for HK-45s quests), Persuade, and if you actually use medkits, Treat Injury. That being said, you can go through the whole game without using a single medkit. You might also wanna stay level 2 until you pick your jedi class on Dantooine. This lets you level your jedi class instead of your base class. More force powers, more force points, and for Jedi Guardian players, more HP.

    • @FeedingFrenzy91
      @FeedingFrenzy91  3 года назад +35

I don't stay level 2 because once I become a guardian skills are harder to level up. To me, computer use is also a very useful skill since there are times when you are by yourself (like the star forge when you want to get the armor or when the droids start spawning) where a high computer use is good to have.
Thank you for watching the video and for the comment.

ZialFPS: I disagree a little bit with that, I know what you mean I don't care about skill as much either, however for a scoundrel intelligence for them means something different. if your playing a soldier it won't matter as much, but for Scoundrels they get other benefits besides getting an extra skill point when you level up. it also aids in the Dexterity stat for a Scoundrel to achieve critical hits more often, also if let's say you decide you wanna go the Jedi Consular path, having your wisdom at 14+ and above with an intelligence modifier of atleast +1 and above adds an extra punch. Charisma with a Scoundrel also adds to that, but that's more for reducing the penalty if your character is light side using dark side powers like forced lightning. Strength for a Scoundrel isn't as important as it is for soldier, because primarily a Scoundrel isn't meant to face enemies head on. I did that a few times in the past, I turn my strength up and lowered my dexterity and that was a mistake. intelligence for a Scoundrel goes hand in hand with wisdom, so if your Dexterity is atleast a +2 and above with your wisdom and intelligence set to atleast 12 you get more of a chance of inflicting criticals. Soldiers don't have to worry about that, there primarily meant to be a tank and deal massive amounts of damage. even if your turn the strength up to 14 or 16 for a scoundrel, they can't deal the same amount of damage as a soldier would with those same numbers. the only thing the scoundrel has over the soldier is inflicting critical hits on enemies not facing you, or you hit someone with a surprise attack. but your dexterity will easily make up for the lack of strength a Scoundrel has normally.

@@Edridx I feel like you didn't read my comment. I said nothing about dumping wisdom, charisma, or dexterity. I said Int is a dump stat because skill points don't matter. The three classes in the game skew this way, the scout is the baseline, with attack equal to 3/4 his character level and no defense bonus. He gets a good mix of feats and skill points. Soldier has accuracy equal to his level (a 33% increase to accuracy with both melee and ranged weapons). The Scoundrel has the same accuracy as the scout and misses out on feats, but has more skill points and bonus to defense equal to 2 + (2*[Lvl/6] ) to compensate. Basically the scoundrel is a bit harder to hit and gets more skill points to spend. But as I explained before, the only two skills in the game that matter are persuade and repair (and even then, only if you wanna role play). You can play the game however you want, but from a practical standpoint, int is a dump stat for every build, but especially for scoundrels since they have more skill points per level and won't even need buffs to pass the rep check for HK-47 or persuade checks.

    • @Edridx
      @Edridx 2 года назад +2

@@zialfps7038 I read what you put, I just disagree a little with the intelligence part. it's more than just a dump stat, and also the 3 classes intelligence means something different for each. for Scoundrels it's not about getting more skill points, and persuasion is important for all 3 classes, Scoundrels can put 4 points at start. Repair skill is kinda handy to have, Scouts are actually better with that skill. I just don't mess with that unless I decide to go for HK-47 which I don't do on every playthrough. but I mentioned about Wisdom and Intelligence because it's a strength for a Scoundrel, Dexterity isn't just to give you more reflex, for a Scoundrel it also helps improve your chances of hitting and getting critical hits.
Intelligence only becomes a dump stat if your playing the other classes, soldier or scout. A scout is a balance between the two, however a scout doesn't do critical hits from behind or sneak attacks. that's where intelligence and wisdom come into play for a Scoundrel. if your playing as a Scout for example, you can go about them as you see fit. with a soldier your primarily gonna put most of your points into strength and constitution, Dexterity and intelligence for a soldier isn't as important, other than making them a little more mobile in battle. now for a scout Dexterity is somewhat important for them since they can't quite take as damage as a soldier, but they still need to have some points in strength to basically hit and do damage, but it's different for Scoundrels. Scoundrels inflict the least amount of damage out of the 3 classes, so to help that's where Dexterity for a Scoundrel becomes a strength. for a Scoundrel Dexterity adds as a hit modifier, and let's say your intelligence is set 12 that's usually where I put it, and your wisdom is around that range. your chances of inflicting critical hits gives you more added bonus, also the sniper shot and critical hit feats will have more of a chance of stunning the enemy than normally.

    • @zialfps7038
      @zialfps7038 2 года назад +4

@@Edridx You can go through the entire game without bothering to sneak attack, even with the scoundrel's lower hp. Their accuracy is on par with the scout and they do get a defense bonus to offset the lower hp (which when geared properly and paired with dueling, can make your scoundrel surprisingly survivable). But yes, you can add points to int to pump stealth in addition to rep/persuade if that's just your quirk. It's still not the most practical option, but I can see how it might be a fun playstyle.

My personal favourite build is LS Scout 4/Jedi Guardian 16. 15+5 str, 9 dex, 13 con, 8 int, 15 wis, 15 char. When it comes to skills, you really only need 17 repair (HK-47) and 19 persuade (75% success rate on hard persuade checks). Your companions do the rest.

    • @FeedingFrenzy91
      @FeedingFrenzy91  Год назад +3

That's cool. What I like about this build is that you can take who you want rather than take who you would need because of the mission. See with those skills basically all the mines, computers, and repairs can be done by the main character. So you no longer have to take like T3 at a certain point because your main character can hack the comps or repair the droids and pick up the mines.
Everyone likes different styles though. Thanks for sharing your build. Honestly, the one thing I would probably change with mine is the dex like i would probably add one to not get the negative.
      God bless you.

  • @DaddyHensei

Actually dex is really important. A lightsaber will also use either your str or dex modifier for hit chance. Basically it’s more beneficial to go with a higher dex than strength because of this. Reason being you’ll be harder to hit and you’ll hit more often with a lightsaber. Str still controls how much damage you do. But you’ll be surprised how much damage you can do with +1 str with + 3 or 4 dex. It’s really quite a bit, especially with critical strike or flurry.
Int is a useless stat in the first game. The amount of skill points you get from increasing it, simply isn’t worth it. Also considering how useless the skills largely are in the first game besides pretty much persuade, repair and treat injury. In kotor 2 skills are way more important but not in kotor 1. Best to leave your int at just ten and put the rest of the points in stats like wisdom, char, dex and str. All of those will you help you out more in a fight.

This way just felt more free to me. Espeically on Taris I did so much more (and got more exp) than I normally do because I was able to slice the computers and repair the droids and get the persuade options as well). in general (I've played the game different ways before trying this out) I found this just a much better experience. Once you get off Dantooine most fights are still done pretty easily.

I did a strategy similar to this but as a Soldier/Guardian. I also did a Level 2 Hold on Taris which helped me get the Feats and Powers that not only I wanted but get them early enough for Dantooine. For Attributes I left my CON at 12 and the rest at 14 except CHA which I put at 18. And I raise my Skills to add up to a even number in accordance to my Attributes. I am currently doing a “Glass Cannon” run as a Scout but have not decided whether to go Guardian or Sentinel yet. I am doing a Level 4 Hold in order to get the free Level 2 Implant Feat which will make both Marl and Bendak’s fights easier on Taris. My hope is to do the HK repair line along with the rest of the Companion Quests. If anyone has a preference/recommendation for my Jedi Class conundrum, I am willing to Listen.

    • @FeedingFrenzy91

The reason I don't go, soldier, is that the class gives too few skill points in my opinion. If you can up your skill points high enough you don't really need much in the attribute department if you can simply up the skill. Granted though this particular strategy in the video works best in II as more skills more options and in many cases more exp.

Dexterity also affect melee weapons. It doesn't say it i. The stats info but it does. As this was based off the wotc star wars rpg which was based off D&D 3.5 so instead of giving you finesse feat it just counted the higher of str or dex for melee. At least for jedi chars. So stsrting with such shiy dex at the beginning of the game is probsblt gonna get you killed more often than naught and aside from skills the only ones the maon char needs is persuasion, healing, and repair. You'd only really need repair if you were going to do the whole HK side story thing. Aside from that t3 has tour repair and comp checks, mission has your demolitions and comp/repair..... mostly you just need to focus healing. Even at that an int of 14 is good for any char.
You shouldn't have any dump stats. 10 should be minimum Str, Con, and Chr really aren't needed. If your def is good and your healing is good HP isn't an issue. Skip all the bs armor and stick in plain clothes with force buffs and your good

Giving this video a like. While I don't agree with the build, I like the bit of work you put into this, and respect the help your putting out there. Overall good video. I do have some points to make though.
This would be great in KOTOR 2, but like many have pointed out, Intelligence in KATOR 1 is actually the most unnecessary skill.
With very few viable skills to buy with the points awarded to you,, its often better to just invest in a Primary attack type, such as Flurry->Master, or critical/Power. Then getting some force related skills and construct your build around combat.
Most situations where having high intelligence come in handy would be when you need to do a certain task, that someone on your Team will usually already be specialized in, and will always be better than you in.
simply having a lot of useless skills crammed on your Player Character is actually harmeful. Being the Jack-of-all-trades in this Game is much worse than Kotor 2.
I'd highly recommend at most investing minimal points into intelligence as you level up, only if, your playing a scoundrel, and want sneak attack, or a little more to eventually do more of HK-47 quest.

I'm sorry, but this is dumb. That is way too many points in intelligence. Intelligence is absolutely useless given you can just use your companion skills to get through certain events. Only persuade being one of the few viable skills to have in the game given it only you the player character can convince people. Especially if you're going to be a scoundrel, leave your intelligence at 8. Only increase it up 2 if you're scout or 4 if you're a soldier and you want to be able to complete certain side quests like repairing HK 47 and being able to convince certain characters in the game. Me personally, I like to be a 7/13 scoundrel/guardian. Mainly because scoundrel has access to an exclusive starting feat(sneak attack). Since I like to be able to do everything possible. I start with a balanced build with 14 and everything except intelligence, leaving that at 8:00. And putting the 5 attribute points I get as I level, completely into strength. Maybe the last point into wisdom or something depending on my alignment, but pretty much all strength. Only skills I go for are persuade, awareness, and repair at character generation, then switch the points I invest into repair once I get 5 or 6 repair, into trade injury instead (this is only if you have the DLC for yavin so you can get those goggles that increase your intelligence/repair skill (mixed with Master Force valor), to completely repair hk47

Phil A. Ditko: I wouldn't put that many points for intelligence either, however for a scoundrel intelligence for them adds extra benefits besides getting an extra skill point. for a soldier it doesn't do anything for them, and for a Scouts it does nothing except give you extra skill points, but for a Scoundrel it goes hand in hand with Wisdom and Dexterity. what it does is give the Scoundrel more chances of inflicting critical hits, and that's with using feats like sniper shot and critical hit. almost 90% of the time the enemy gets stunned, the only time it may not work is if the enemy has a pretty good will save.
Strength for a Scoundrel is not as important as it is for a soldier, turning your strength up to 12, 14, or 16 only adds slightly more damage for critical hits, outside of that though in most 1 on 1 battles with a melee weapon or lightsaber strength adds nothing. the Scoundrels strengths lies in Dexterity, intelligence, and wisdom. your chances of landing a hit for a Scoundrel is determined by your Dexterity and intelligence score, not your strength score.
alot of people say the opposite, that may be the case for other base classes like the soldier or even the Scout since they don't get much of a benefit. even a scout with high intelligence does nothing for them other than give you extra points, because they don't do sneak attacks or doing criticals from behind, but the Scoundrel is different than any of the 3 classes. they need all the help they can get since they can't take as damage in battle. that's there bread and butter.

Scoundrel dark side strength melee guardian build is the highest damage build in the game and gives skills with minimal investment. There's no where in the game where there are mines that you can't have a companion. Demolition is a useless skill as fun as it can be. But genuinely you're better off going to koriban right away after dantooine, buying crassus fett heavy pistol giving it to t3 and making him good on awareness and demo he's already good enough on security (which is a useless skill for everyone) so you can focus on making him good at demo, cilomputers and awareness and you never need these then. Plus he actually does more damage with cassusbfett heavy pistol and Sauls sith assassin pistol than joliee, juhani or even bastilla can do with fully upgraded sabres. Oh and the fact he ends up have 35 armour and 250ish hp it's pretty good too. He's actually better at combat because of this than HK47, he can also take carbonote projectors which ALWAYS paralyse a target making him pretty awesome against "boss" type creatures.
Long story short, you really don't need skills, apart from pursuade and healing.
If you build up your followers properly you skill get to do everything but you don't need to spend points in intelligence (which for some reason actually gives you nothing in game except +% chance to 6 second stun from a critical hit with sniper shot which means you'd need max intelligence and dexterity and to be using guns with 17-20 critical (there's only one in the game, zalbaars bow caster and it's damage is pathetic) so there really is 0 reason to bother with intelligence.
If you're good you also don't need dexterity and if you're not going melee you don't need strength which should allow you to make a very powerful light or dark side sabre user who can also shoot straight if you want too.
All that said returning to the original point dark side guardian + 1-8 max strength, strength of 33 = + 11, bagawin assault blade 6 - 36 be +5 attack 17 - 20 with master critical strike that's 11 - 20 critical range.
That's 18-55 overall +32 to hit in both hands.
Jedi jump + attack and damage
What makes it even better is that counts as a sneak attack, being a scoundrel you get sneak attack 4 which is + 4 - 24 so before you go to melee you get that.
Even ignoring force jump as a melee user
That's + 4 - 24 which is doubled every critical strike, for any attack where in behind them, or they are debilitated (in force whirlwind or choking)
So my average attack (which only 3 shields in the entire game blocks and mandelorians don't even get to use them before they die usually, unlike energy which force powers weaken before amour and shields even come into effect.) is 40 - 134 melee damage 10-20 critical range as I use master critical strike.
Scoundral is not weak, it's the highest damage dealer in the game.
I can literally beat malak barely even trying.
Melee is the highest damage in the game but you have to use strength which is a bummer as it's useless for everything else.
This scoundrel set up still gets several skills every level and being able to persuade early on is useful. Unlike computer or security or demo.

I know the video creator means well by offering his advice, but I would seriously warn people NOT to do this. You're taking a substantial loss on points. And making a big mistake.
17 points into INT makes you bleed out 2 points each increase up to 16 INT, then bleed out 3 points for anything after 16. INT 17 and 18 costing 3 points per stat increase, as opposed to just one point up to 14. It's such a huge waste. It's costing you 7 points to increase INT from 14 to 17. It's like sabotaging yourself out of 4 levels worth of attributes from natural level progression.
Don't take my word for it. Go to character creation screen and take a look how quickly you'll bleed out points, by putting anything higher than 14 in character creation. It's a waste, no matter anyone's subjective preferences on how to build their character.

@@FeedingFrenzy91 This is also incorrect information. I don't know where you're getting your information from.
There's no way in the game to increase the amount of feats you get from choose attribute stats at the start of the game. The only way to increase the amount of feats you get per level is dependant on the class you choose at the start of the game, and the jedi class you transition into when you become a jedi. You seem like a really nice and respectable guy, so I wanna take the time to help you out and clarify a few things from my own research into the game. Also, you can find a lot of statistical information regarding the game on the star wars Kotor wiki. Ok here goes:
So if you want the absolute most feats available per level up in the game, you have to choose a soldier, followed by a jedi guardian, when you decide to be a jedi. Below I'm going to provide you a quick guide on how many feats you get per each class(including all the jedi classes)
Soldier: provides you with 18 feats for its entire 20 levels. You don't get feats at levels 17 and 19 when leveling up at a soldier.
Scout: will provide you with 11 feat levels to level 20. You will get a feat level each level until 3, then every even number level will not give you a feat. Example(you'll get no feats on levels): 4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18, and 20.
Scoundrel: with scoundrel you only get 8 feats for all 20 levels. The first 2 levels you will get feats, but after that you'll skip every 2 levels not getting feats, and get a feat every 3rd level. Example(you'll get no feats on levels): 3,4,6,7,9,10,12,13,15,16,18, and 19.
This is not a problem for anyone if people take advantage of the no leveling past 2 until becomes a jedi, because all 3 classes give you feats up to level 2.
      Now for the jedi feats:
Jedi Guardian: Jedi guardian gives you a total of 9 feats from 20 levels. This might not sound like a lot, but in terms of feats, the guardian provides the most feats.
Jedi Sentinel: This class provides you with only 7 feats from 20 levels.
Jedi Consular: once again, similar to the sentinel, the consular will only provide you with 7 feats from 20 levels.
This is the only way you can manipulate how much feats you're able to earn in the game. Hopefully this helps you, and some others. 👍

In KOTOR 1 Cannon you are Revan who suffered a tramatic brain injury and lost all her memories so your Intelligence should never be set higher than 8. You are also the party leader which means you need to be able to win solo fights (against Malak) & support your party which are the ones who should be used to as skill donkeys. Even in the movies whenever Obi-Wan & Anakin went on a mission they brought R2 along to unlock doors & hack CPU's for them.
Skills do not matter for the main character all that matters is being a Badass Over Powered Jedi, persuade doesn't add much of a benefit necause there are "Game Features" which allow you to duplicate expensive items and re-sell them for infinite credits & to kit you party out with the best equipmemt available
The ultimate starting build is a Soilder Class with 8 INT and ever other stat @ 14, you should never increase you attributes past 14 on your starter character because after 14 it cost 2 points for 1 attribute which will make your end game character weaker. You shouldnt level up until you become a Jedi either because youll lose out the Force Points on levels wasted on your starting class. Your forced to take one level on the Endar Spire so the 2 feats you get should be invested into your combat attack moves. With these attributes you can do potentially any build from Classic Jedi Guardian to an Armoured Jedi with 2 blasters, or the Most Over Powered build a "Paladin" Jedi Counselor focusing on Buffing/Debuffing & Healing Force Powers over Offensive attack powers. Buffs will make you completely over powered in combat, having a high Charisma & Wisdom late game you can be strong enough to land Debuffs on Malak while resisting his if you use a few buffs on yourself first, you dont even need to level up your Strength, Dexterity or Constitution because Early & Late game your buff Force Powers are enough to carry you & your party through combat.
Having 14 across your attributes will make your Leader stronger in all aspects of combat from their abilities to cast & resist force powers, their combat capabilities, as well as their vitality & force points gained as their character levels.
In my opinion taking Jedi Counselor while still level 2 is the most overpowered class because you will get the highest possible amount of Force Points and Force Powers @ the end of the game. The most Over Powered build should always prioritize upping Charisma & Wisdom to increase their Force Points their Strength & Chance to Hit of their Force Abilities, the buffing Force Powers
You can beat the entire dueling arean & assasinate Bendak Starkiller @ level 2 by using energy sheilds, medkits, grenades & land mines if needed. You can easily beat the first 2 opponents with the stats in melee for Ice who you said you lost on use a poision grenade which lowers her stats so you can beat her in melee combat, for marl use stims to buff yourself allowing you to win the fight by spamming medpacks for Twitch the Rodian champion you should come back later @ level 2 after the Sith Base Quest & use an energy sheild, medpacks & sonic/frag grenades till he dies.
Bendak if you used your companions to unlock all doors/ containers you should have 8 plasma grenades which you save specifically for this fight. Bendak will throw 3 plasma grenades at the start so activate your sheild dodge the grenades by moving then spam out plasma grenades, re-activate your sheilds and use medpacks till he dies and you can go collect the bounty & all that sweet sweet XP your going to hold onto untill you become a Jedi.

Very detailed. Nice work. However I myself never really did the whole don't level up on Taris because I believe it makes the experience less enjoyable. Thanks for the explanation on how to make it work in like with the fight ring and everything.
      God bless you.

@FeedingFrenzy91 I was planning another run through & have been playing Kotor since it came out when I was a kid.
Just got to the Jedi Temple after milking every drop of XP from Taris. I was a Lvl 2 soilder with the Attributes I mentioned before and got 7 levels as a Jedi Counselor immediately giving me 3 Feats which I used all to get Master 2-Handed Weapon fighting, *9* Force Powers so I got Cure, Force Sheild, Burst of Speed, Force Valor, Dominate Mind & Affliction with the buffs and defuffs in combat my party is essentially unbeatable and Dominate every combat encounter.
Base stats I only have 80 Vitality but I already have 131 Force Points my Defense with no equipment is 16 but when I use buffs it's 23 with no equipment.
When buffed my Fortitude is 17, Reflex is 13 & Will is 15 with no equipment. I had put the 2 extra attributes I gained into wisdom bringing it from 14 to 16. So enemies can't hit me with Ranged/Melee & I resist any force power used on me.
When buffed my Strength is 16 my Dexterity is 16 my Constitution is 16 my Intelligence is 10 my Wisdom is 18 & my Charisma is 16, while I'm technically only level 9 so for the rest of the game I can basically 1 shot every low level enemy and once I progress to Malak I'll be stronger than him in melee combat with buffs, be able to resist his debuffs & have a high enough Wisdom he won't be able to resist my Force Attacks.
If you ever do another play though try this build out because with no Dexterity your going to take every hit thrown at you & with low Charisma/ Wisdom your not going to be able to resist/hit Force Attacks or use Force Powers of the opposition alignment.
It's nice to see other people who appreciate this game KOTOR 1 & 2 are 2 of the best Star Wars games made.

@@nosnibormailliw5122 Thanks it's good to see outside-of-the-box thinking with these builds. Probably never (unless God directed me to) play this game again though. I've had so many playthroughs. I may play through the second game if the Switch gets the restored content version.
      God bless you.

@@nosnibormailliw5122 Eh... I prefer consoles I did play through 2 on PC due to restored content but even that was less enjoyable because the pc controller buttons aren't as good.
      God bless you.
