@@Timberwolf410 It is because Travis said he doesn't like to RP romance in his games, so Laura decided to try and get Fjord to fall for Jester. Otherwise, if it doesn't work, Laura is making it look like Travis is rejecting his wife on live stream. xD It was mentioned in one of the Talks Machina episodes.

The fact that a sentient weapon is what sold Travis on the Hexblade really takes me back to Grogs misadventures with Craven Edge and Kas
Ben Holeman At the end of campaign 1, when Grog's soul was sucked out because he pulled the Void card, I imagined how funny & awesome it would have been if his soul got trapped in a weapon.

I'm a straight guy but Travis is a handsome dude. Laura is a beautiful woman, their kid won the lottery with good looking, intelligent, awesomely cool people for parents.

Hearing Travis explain how his new character came to be really hits home how much they are just people. Basically, every character I've ever made has come from a very similiar place.
All people are just people, its dangerous to forget that.

Maybe it's just a reflection of my lack of RP skills/ not actually having played D&D but my first character (a Halfling Wizard) is basically just me as a D&D character lol.
Jerk one of the things I do to keep in mind how people are just people is imagine them in pajamas going to bed at night. I don’t know what it is about it, but for some reason it helps ground the idea that they are another person with their own lives and problems and such
Seems like Laura Bailey is the one that snaps into her character the fastest. In Liam and Sam's podcast, they had an episode where they talked about playing with Matt Mercer for the first time. And despite Liam having actually played tabletop games before, Laura was the one who canonballed into her role while everyone one else was still feeling it out.
invaderzam her character ( maybe with story variation) already was "tested" Laura and Matt use jester years ago in one shot.

that is my weakness in dnd. I always get so self-conscious of any accent I attempt to try on and over critical about how it plays out I tend to just use my own voice and feel like I'm not really in the water just my toes are.

@@TheDevilsOwl505 it was either Travis or Liam's between the sheets interviews. By the way, I'd recommend all of those. The entire cast (plus a bunch more, but you probably mainly want to see the main cast) did hour long interviews with Brian W. Foster basically talking about their childhoods, their experiences with theatre, their lives, and how they started coming in contact with Critical Role. They're all really good and each one touches on a really personal aspect of their lives.

I wonder if Fjord's Zodiac sign is Taurus? Is his favorite constellation Orion? I bet those would be great conversation starters at his next tex-mex Fusion themed Fiesta, although I am sure most will want to Escape into his tales of his Elite Expedition to the Edge of the empire as an Explorer.
If conversation gets cold, he can always toss out a quick Flex, then Transit into tales of fighting Raptors and Falcons with Thunderbolts and Lightning, the Excursion to Escort Crown Victoria, the Scorpio queen of Torino in the Sierra mountains where she and her Thunderbird, Fairlane, wage war against the forces of Ka Landau, and his band of Bronco riding Rangers from the Territory of Ranchero Tempo, who want to steal her Sapphire Scepter.
If that fails to wow the masses, he can pitch his dreams of becoming a Popular Corsair on a spelljammer, where he is the Pilot of the Capri Galaxy, an Interceptor Starliner, that makes Mainline runs from Grenada, Verona, through Durango and Versailles then off to the Cougar nebula, where a slalom through Meteors and Comets is just another day at the office.

I could absolutely listen to Travis, simply reading, or rambling about the world for hours on end. His voice is so amazingly pleasant :))

Same! And after I found it, I realized he's voiced one of my favorite characters from the Skylanders game series: Buzz.
I could listen to the cast of CR talk about voice acting and D&D allllllll day, especially Travis, Taliesin and Matt you can tell they really really care about what they're doing, you can absorb the love and enthusiasm by osmosis

Speaking of the Half-Orc, is it just me or does it kinda feel like he's the default leader of The Mighty Nein? It's obvious when listening to the various smaller groups that make up the Nein that they each have leading personalities, Caleb, out of him and Nott, Molly between him and Yasha, and Fjord out of his band of three.
Yeah, I think that's really the 'natural' position he's in, but we'll all have to wait and see how much Travis takes up that mantel; me thinks he might be a little hesitant to fully step out in front in that way. But he'll probably up his Cha to 20 at level 4, then he'll be far and away the best talker of the group, and that's bound to have a further effect on the dynamic. I look forward to seeing how that all plays out long-term.
Fjord and Molly are definitely leaders. Fjord moreso being able to actually lead and Molly being far and away the most intelligent (not stat wise, that’s really just taliesin peeking through) I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Travis is being unleashed in this campaign. Grog was a classic but Fjord is going to be amazing
I guess they'de living more Peace, since when he was Grog they didn't consider his opinions very much. And he's the one with the most "concrete" objetive, so they're kinda going along
well its really not hard to imagine ford as a defacto leader, from pretty much the first minute fjord immediately seemed to be the most level headed of the bunch,

Travis is so right. It's their game and they are having fun with it, they are going to do what they are going to do, and I'm just happy I get to witness it. All the love to CR!

This is why I hate negative feedback or negative comments. It is their game and they are sharing it with us. So Liam forgot how many lucks he had or Marisha forgot how a spell worked, it happens. Just let them play their game and be happy we get to witness it.
If Travis went Cleric, he and Ashley switched classes.
Was kind of expecting him to go Paladin, but warlock is a great match for him too, giving magic without it getting too complicated. And Fjord is a great character. Closest thing to a moral compass the group has.

I wish I had some friends like Travis, he is such a fukin cool dude. I am an adult man and artist and I take all the drama like a champ but when Travis did the scene of Grog's turn to talk to Scanlan's body he actually brought me to tears. You have to have been following the characters, prior, to be that invested but if you have then it was a POWERFUL performance.
I freaking love Travis man lol what a cool dude.
Finally, a Travis interview! My favorite they saved for last.
God damn it Travis is absolutely my favorite player overall. Everyone else is great, but his outlook and playstyle just resonate so well. I am immensely impressed with Travis's ability to roleplay and switch between serious and joking.

I was all about Mustang in Full Metal Alchemist! I didn't know it was Travis until long after I had been watching CR.
IKR! mustang is my favorite character from FMA (if not any anime ever), and its probably my favorite travis role ever too tbh.

I had no idea Taliesin was doing an Irish accent. And I'm Irish.
I was gonna make the same comment. Mollymauk's voice is great, but it's certainly not coming across as Irish. If anything, I thought it had a little bit of a Brooklyn twang to it?
It's Irish now and then haha. Every so often he deliberately puts in the word "shite" and suddenly he's Irish and then it's gone again. At least he's not doing the super strong "Ah shure jaysus, would ya lookit em now, acha chee cha choo! Top o' the marnin' to ya!" But yeah the accent is hardly there most of the time and just pops up very subtley at times but alas. Fair play to him for trying and not going for the stereotypical "American" Irish accent.

Other than "shite" and the way he says "no" there's not a shred of an Irish accent.
The fact that him using that voice was such a snap decision is just beautiful, considering how important it ended up being for his character

As impressed as he seemed with Earthbreaker Grune I expected him to go empty hand monk. Surprised me when Marisha turned out to fill that role.
I never heard her say anything to that effect, but i dont follow twitter or watch project alpha so I probably missed it.

Oh yeah, I haven't even started my upcoming campaign yet, and I've already been swimming in at least 5 other character ideas. One of which I went all the way to fusing with my character for said upcoming campaign.
One of my favorite things about fanart as the new campaign was just starting was seeing how widely the interpretations varied before they were fully described or visualized. The amount got lower, but there's still a variation with how the new characters are drawn to how VM was and I am in love with it

This is why we love these ppl... Like, as much of a show as Crit Role is, it's still just a bunch of dudes and dudettes playing DnD... I loved Grog, I mean he was the lovable brute of the party, but there wasn't much to play outta him... I'm really happy to see Travis "playing" his character now... And now that he said "pages of background" , the hype is HUGE...
I love how articulate he is. Not just compared to Grog! That's a given, and we've always known Travis is actually really smart, but even among his fellow actors he's REALLY solid in how organized his thoughts are and how he shares them. He and Sam particularly! It's so cool to see them out of character for a bit.
I really like Fjord he is a pretty neat character so far. Also props to travis for going southern accent without making it an inaccurate typical hollywood hick sounding pile of crap. Its highly appreciated
I adore Travis, i am so jealous of Laura. I want a Travis. He's so funny, goofy, charismatic, sweet, intelligent, and just so interesting to listen to. I love hearing how sweet, awkward Fjord came into being.

I love Travis sooo much, he definitely inspired me to make my own Hexblade Warlock character, he is a Tiefling named Kayon Drakarthai who made a pact with a Shadowfell Demon named Solace to get revenge on the people who slaughtered his family like cattle and burned his home to ashes

I still miss Grog very much, but Fjord is great too. Travis deserves this more intelligent role.
