  • May 21 (Bloomberg) -- Harry's, a New York-based startup, is attempting to disrupt the global razor blade market by offering cheaper blades online, and it has bought a former East German factory to help its cause. Bloomberg's David Tweed caught up with Andy Katz-Mayfield, Harry's co-founder, in the German town of Eisfeld.

The irony is the prices of their blades now are more expensive than that of of their competition

He tried to sell the company to Schick recently and it was blocked by Gillette and the FTC so he's really trying to help change the market and be the razor Robin Hood we've all been looking for. (sarc)

Except their cartridge design makes them unusable. The pivot point is set behind the blades, so when you press the razor to your face, the blades are rotated and lifted away from the skin!

I use these, and I get a great shave with no nicks. I shave every day, and have a fairly heavy beard, and at that I get 7 to 10 days out of one blade. Much better than that famous, grossly overpriced American brand.

Shame the design isn't great. Clogs too easily and causes too many nicks.

Preferably why I prefer safety razors as they don't clog as easily and the blades are INSANELY CHEAP!
I use a fresh blade every shave and it's still so cheap. I shave every week or two so a few blades last me a while.

The marketing and the entire company design is identical bro. 1000's of companies in the US especially have "jacked" dsc marketing strategies. It's clear too see.

JC Clayton Dollar Shave Club prides themselves on cheap and affordable razors, that don't really have long-term quality, but because they're cheap, you're getting a deal. The Harry's brand on the other hand, focuses on quality products, while keeping them affordable, and not ripping off their consumers. The only comparable areas is affordability and that they're in the shaving industry. But their philosophies on quality and style, are very much different.
