Huh, some of those areas you mentioned are completely empty when I am in them. Every now and then there is some weird peace treaty in the grand plains lol. It was so weird seeing it happen. Everyone was just questing, no one was fighting. Seeing 15 different species of dino deliver flowers from the same flower source was just awesome. I just cannot grow my rex for some reason. Maybe 10 minutes after I log in I die to 2 bigger rexes, every freaking time. I am going to give bars, and eo an attempt. Meg is a lot of fun once you figure out how to tail ride people. I don't mind the dinos that take 6 hours to grow myself. Coming from a deinosuchus player on The Isle (Evrima), 6 hours means nothing to me lol. Headset is a must, play loud enough the footsteps are clear. TURN OFF MUSIC! That junk will always over play footsteps sometimes. Making them hard to hear. I tried to do the not run thing as a stego, the giga ate me LOL. (I play on a server with modded dinos, some are crazy fun!) The community server I am on has some nice rules to it. Good carnivore group limits, no mix packing. I started the game a few weeks ago, and first thing I did was find a good community server first, then I made 1 of each dino. Going to get them all to adult or try to. That is my goal. So far everyone has gone out of their way to kill me as a Rex and a Stego lol. Funny enough no one bothered me at all growing a Spino to adult.
I would definitely say community servers have a different set of rules to survive. Maybe I will make a video about community servers next :). As for your rex, maybe you can get someone to help you grow because as an apex you are just such a HUGE target especially rex.

People killing rexes because of bad reputation of this dino pick in PoT and Isle. Most of them are toxic bullies and people don't like it. I personally kill rexes every time I able to, even small, despite the fact that I usually don't attack juvies. Same works for deinosuchus on modded servers and sometimes for every apex at all. But spino definitely got way less hate than some others.
@@BessReed Awww, i've been growing mine just off AI food, I only kill when I hit adult on something, and my hunger is crazy low, and no AI food is around. I am a weirdo though lol. When I play deinocuchus, I tend to live off fish. Unless I run out of those and am still low on food. Then again if you swim across a river when there are perfectly safe crossing points all over the map, that one is on you :P
Alright For New players, play community severs, if you wanna play officials it takes an half lifetime to grow smth.. but you can Play officials IF YOU really want but i won't recomment it!
Officials is more hardcore challenging. Because there’s players of all kinds. I changed to Gondwa Officials map a few weeks ago. I now have 3 adults, subs some adolescents and a lot of juvis. Nothing is impossible. My biggest issues with community is waiting infinite times for a spot to open up in a server you like, and not having enough space to update mods for the map, and you can’t play in ANY community server without updating the mods.

Couple of tips I would like to add: 1. Know your dinos strengths and weaknesses, example. Face tanking as pycno is often a sure way to die. 2. You take extra damage while sitting down or sleeping. 3. Do not listen to some music or podcast in the background, this makes it pretty impossible to hear what is around you.
Unfortunately I cannot play any games without music or podcasts playing in the background. I just get distracted if I don't have it. So I just play it really really low on volume... And hope for the best
And if you do listen to music play it on your phone and wear the big headphones so you can easily distinguish the two sounds. I know it works for me well even with adhd.
The one major problem this game has imo is that there is 0 way to track food for either herbivore or carnivore. Feels really bad to have to just learn the map when the isle has these systems in place that allow you to pretty much survive anywhere on the entire map.

All bodies of water have at least one Sarco in it. You just haven't seen them yet. But they have definitely seen you. Some areas have small caves that only babies can really use. Learn where they are. If you are dying from dehydration, you can drink salt water to help keep you alive untill you can find fresh water. In the case that you are starving, you can also eat salt rocks, but it will destroy your thirst. Don't bother with the deliver flowers missions, just go to another area and do missions somewhere else. When doing lake weed missions, unless you are semiaquatic, do not swim for the weeds. You will get eaten. Hebavors are more likely to kill babies than carnivors. I don't know why, they just don't have chill. Pay attention to the global and local chats. You can use it to figure out where the KOS players, mix packs, and baby killers are hanging out. If you are being chased, don't run in a straight line. You'll get caught. Bob and weave, dive between rocks, break line of sight and abuse the bushes to hide if you are small enough. If you are going to join a group, do so with players using the same dino as you. They are less likely to turn on you. Yes, dino racism is a thing. Pay attention to what kind of roars you use and how you act around others. If you are aggressive, annoying, or just being stupid, people might just kill you to teach you a lesson. Lastly, if you do die. Don't just write it off. Ask yourself what happened and how you could have avoided it, what you could have done better. Learn from your deaths and apply what you learn. This game can be tough on noobs, and getting from juvenile to sub adult is the hardest part of the game.
Ye i knew i should have had left as soon as i had a bad feeling about that jfd Torvo being fake, he kinda annoyed me for acting all cocky and mighty after taking 3-4 big bite at me getting up and then going in chat skill issue why are you running away (i clearly don't see his skill either biting something static for a sec i had too few health left and a bleed on as a solo Maip i'm more of a pacifist player i don'tfeel the need to kill anything i see i was just enjoying my time) he just came in and decided to be an ass in chat about it I know i should have followed my thought and will remember it but i don't think he had any right to boast of nothing
I would say green hills, snake gully and Salt flats are more dangerous than bf, burned forest not that bad in my opinion and its not open area so its easy to hide there
Another great pick for carno is the Meg, it was my first dino ever and the only thing that has killed me so far is drinking from sharptooth swamp without knowing about the fresh water at the middle, and falling off of a small cliff took half my remaining health, slowly died of thirst right as I reached some fresh water. But other than that one death I have made it to adult in the first attempt and survived attacks from a picno, other megs, a few sarco's, and a rouge spino. My poor guy is covered head to toe in scars and earned every one of them. Also, a secret area I have found to be great for growing is desolate pass/hot springs. As a carno you can eat from the dead body in desolate, and there is fresh water in the hot springs of course. I am currently growing a rex (sub adult at the moment) there and my darker skin makes me blend in at desolate and I stick around in springs long enough to fill my water and do some quick quest.
And I'll grief them too, they wanna play in peace they can pick another dino until pachy is nerfed into being basically unplayably weak with high stamina drain before being buffed back up to where it's in line with laten but a little tankier and about the stamina of stego.
You forgot to mention reading chat. Some mixpacks boast and stupidly mention their locations. Know the trends happening in the server by looking at chat. Even if its a different language, you'd probably figure out if they're fighting on IC for example
The best tip: Play Community server which suits ur style, if u like pvp, find a server which gives you passive growth, so u grow faster and even if you get killed, you can come back strong. Completing quests on official server for growth is very boring and if someone kills you, you lose growth points which can be pretty frustrating!!!! Another tip: Herbivores gets more support than carnivores, plus i rhink its easy to defend yourself using a herbivore than a carnivore. Herbivores got better stamina than most of the apex carnivores.
Learned not to trust other herbivores the hard way. (Day 3 player at time of commenting). My favorite dinosaur is the Ankylosaurus, and I wanted to use the similar species in the game, but it cannot outrun other dinos, so if an adult of anything sees me and decides to make me lunch, there's no escape unless they are really unobservant while I'm running. It is a very difficult dino to level up, and after 3 days of using it, I'm only halfway to the next life stage after juvenile thanks to deaths setting back.

You know how people always say if you are face to face with a bear, or a cougar or something, walk towards it, make yourself big, be loud, or stand your ground. This throws the predator off because it’s not what they are used to. They basically think “omg what is that this isn’t normal man I’m outta here” but if you were to run from say a bear or cougar it’s gonna chase because running tells them you are scared, and being scared means you are prey.
Idk, running away helped me almost every time, especially if there are some bushes to get lost in or some trees or cliffs you can try to jump off. Of course, it depends about the contingency of the server you are playing on, the one I played on people don't kill babies so often, except when babies are their main prey
trust no one but there are a few players like myself that will adopt random bbs especially brand new players. also the mark grind is a little easier on panjura bc of the size of the quest and you get marks even if you're chased out of the quest area before finishing as you get one mark per item picked up plus about the same amount upon completion. just avoid the mid to south center of the map. gondwa has better ground cover (ie. bushes you can actually hid in and many little holes for bb) but can be difficult for carnies with fewer and farther between carcasses and after adolescents a burrow does next to nothing for a rex. also some areas on gondwa have no bushes and foragers are better as long as its close to a water source in those areas. make as little sound as possible ive adopted a few new players that are obsessed with the calls we died alot. if you can hear someone they can hear you walking running picking up things talking in chat roars too lay down hidden or pick up and item so you dont roar when typing in chat. use the resource map on your phone and try to change server local some servers have low population times (north america servers never do fyi)

Completely fair! In the public test they are adding a lone hunter ability for rex so maybe if that comes out it will help you out.

you take 2x damage when sitting and 4x when laying so be careful where you rest and heal. if you're a raptor or a baby dino use bushes

Had POT for a year now and haven't grow a single dino past juvi so I jsut play community 😂
