I misspoke slightly around 1:00, talking about Oliveira's tactical bathroom break vs Reynor. He said it was inspired by ROGUE, the notorious Zerg known for winning one sided series. Shortly after Oliveira spoke about how Innovation recommended some builds to him, including one used to beat Reynor! I got the two legends mixed up :)
We would never have known.
Inno reaching out from beyond the proverbial grave to slap Zerg around one last time
It doesn't even matter, Terrans have now spy balloons, who cares about bathroom breaks
the innovation build he referred to was 2 banshees but no cloak.
Probably because of Jimmy!
Funny fact, for the first game, Oliveira opened with 3 barracks. Oliveira in his stream said that he watched loads of replays of Hero with some other players (Coffee and Nice) then they came to conclusion that Hero will open with stargate in game 1 so they decided to play safe and go three barracks. But in his stream, he realized that Hero didn't go for stargate😂 but apparently, 3 barracks counter twilight council opener even more.
The whole conversation was like this: "Guys, perhaps you won't believe me but we predicted that Hero would go for stargate in game 1 (..........) wait where is the stargate? Is that a twilight council? (......) But 3 barracks also counter this, is this what you call idiots counter masters?"
Between Oliveira, the Normal Man, and Cure, the people's Terran, I'm getting the vibes that terrans are the most relatable players out there.
We need the Salaryman terran as an addition to them
Clem despite not having the consistency, an alien, Maru an alien, ByuN an alien, HeroMarine could be the one you are looking for.
But honestly then Cure and Oliveira are aliens lol. Even watching uThermal sometimes feels outrageous.
For the Swarm
They just human, you feel me
well they do play the human race sooo…
God I absolutely love Oliveira’s plays this competition.
"tanks and liberators siege 42% faster" if ever there was a foreshadowing of this tournament, a glimmer of how good Oliveira was to perform, it's in the Hearthstone card Winter :) When I look at how well Oliveira moved his forces around the map compared to Byun walling in his tanks when he lost to Serral, I'm thinking the Koreans need to copy Oliveria's training regime, or just get better dads! "You're the best SC2 player in my heart (referring to his father in his victory speech)." I guess his father's love was his secret weapon ^_^
His father told him that after going 0-6 at Atlanta.
He's taken an elevator straight to the penthouse. Well said.
Beautiful! Keep it up, Winter!
Unsurprising the OP race won, as usual...
good game
Winter never disappoints Us 💯
4:45 spoiler alter: he loses the pylon in question.
Disruptors are pure cancer, they need to have energy so you can't spam it.
Cheap protoss unit ofc.
3:39 "If this pylon goes down... well Hero's already lost the game"
5:51 That pylon goes down
5:59 Hero loses the game
"We required additional pylons"
Well he wasn't wrong lol
There was a joke in Chinese community forum when he was 0:2 vs Reynor, that he prayed to Terran gods after game 2, and then Maru, Innovation and TY responded. If Maru had known what's next, he probably would have saved his godhood power.
in all my years of watching sc2 that was the most legendary pulling the boys ever
What I find most interesting about these games is the amount of emphasis Oliveira put on scouting. If you see the number of solo marines that were spent wandering around the map looking for trouble, it was a Serral-esque investment in scouting.
The payoff is I dont think Oliveira was ever surprised by what her0 did.
Add in the "barbarian" strategy of 'Man with gun good. Lots of man with gun better' for the early to midgame, and a willingness to accept that all-in means ALL IN, and he was able to win.
I compare this to a boxing match, he was spending so much time really playing great defense+scouting and his counter attacks weren't just perfect he knew when to pull back or go all in. Just amazing knowledge of the game and his abilities.
Damn dude Oliveira is going so hard in this tournament. That pickup into the medivac to dodge the ruptor at the end was so slick. I've been loving all your casts recently, Winter!
truly impressive
A few years ago I repented to God then begged for help, "I was until then an Atheist."
I then had a dream of Jesus coming before God and he spoke of the Tabernacle in perfect context, "A word I didn't know existed.", and what I felt from Jesus when I held him was unlike anything I've ever felt before - A lifetime of Love every second - It brought me to sobbing and it changed my life, forever.
I've had other experiences since, "Several witnessed", one was seeing a bright orb of light pass across my face in the dark, hours before a major surgery the second I gave up in my heart.
Know that God and Jesus ARE real and that they Love us deeply. Let go of your hatred and Imagine yourself holding the people who've hurt you. Tell them you Love them.
Always have hope, I believe that prayer, following God's laws & Love is the answer, and through that, becoming humble, merciful, welcoming, giving, and forgiving, To All.
What a move with pulling the boys on game three to close it before Hero could macro up.
Wait did innovation really helped him preapare for this tournament? I mean it makes sense because kaizi gaming, but really? That's sick...
He played like him.
@@TheNerdForAllSeasons there are similarities in style for sure.
It was rogue who told him to do bathroom breaks, he said that during his stream after the run🙂
His new Nick name should be People's Liberation Army
Protoss OP
Nah but even though it was sad to see the last protoss go down its good to see the run oliveira went on
"If you like Protoss, you'll like this video"
No... I don't think so.
WinterStarcraft > Tasteless and Artosis
Never find your exit strategy. I appreciate the work.
🤣
Oliviera made me loose all my esport dollars, this game and with Reynor. I was absolutely 100% he'd loose.
I'm still glad for him though. What a story, what a performance.
I mean, if you're going to bet on _anyone_ running the gauntlet of HeroMarine, Reynor, Hero _and_ Maru... your best bets are probably Serral, Dark, Maru, Hero and Reynor (yes, I know that would mean Maru, Hero and Reynor face themselves 🤣). And even then, it's definitely no guarantee!
Oliviera was in the _zone_ like Neo 🔥
The bookies had set it at 0.37% chance of him winning. about 270 to 1 against.
Winter is a decent caster he should do events. Knowledgeable and has a good sense of humor.
I'm loving all these Oliveira matches, they are AMAZING!
its like Byun & Maru made a baby
The training by Inno, the War Machine himself, incredibly apparent. Not the same flawless macro as our old friend, but the patience, the emphasis on position, the control of the game tempo, every fight was on Time's terms.
It Olive happened on Time
Top ranked pros : "Ok gunna do this and this and back away and then do this and poke and do a run by and...."
Oliveira : "MARINE GO BANGBANGBANG"
what makes me love your commentary is how much you love commentating ez :) keep it up
Can you show a bracket for these tournaments.
I tried to find one and your best bet is just to go to the ESL RUclips page and scrub through the videos from the live event. Also a great way to see the victory speech on the final day!!
I like how in game 1 herO immediately GGs when he loses the pylon that you pointed out earlier. We should call those GG pylons
oliveira is god
Serral, Hero, Byun and Reynor knocked out before the finals is definitely a weird thing. But hey, TvT for finals. Chessboxing, to quote some dude on RUclips.
I was rooting for byun but seeing oliviera's run made very exciting.
Try putting that on the title lol
i didn’t get a welcome back and now my life has been turned upside down
Are we gonna have the other semi here aswell? So hyped for this, and have no idea who's in the other. Here's fingers crossed for byun, due to the hype you've made about him lately. And with good cause, but don't let me down winter 😆
Maru vs Ragnarok the other semi :D
Take all your love for Byun, and give it to Oliveira this tournament. Go head over to the ESL channel to see the terran bodies in Byun's game with Serral.
If protoss would use carriers in a different fashion they could be absolutely oppressive. (don't group them, layer them) I don't have the ability to pull this off because I doubt I could even be "wood" level starcraft.
cant beleive they ruined protoss balance so badly a few months before katowice, zerg cabal sux. if hero played zerg he would never loose, are queens reskined warcraft 3 hero units? cause they got so many spells etc and cant die and can def everything?
LOLOLOL sc2 is not as much skill as people say its a broken game and people abuse these broken gimmicks and pretend to be good
miss wol
Greatest sc2 run ever
Right around the fight starting @33:10, it started sinking in for me that at least for this competition, Oliveira is not to be thought of as a lucky underdog, but one of the greatest players in the world for seemingly toying with his high level opponents in these final games of Katowice 2023.
Dang that was a short series... I often grab some snacks and drink while getting comfy in my chair but before I realize, it ended in less than 35 mins 😧
on the player face cams hero and maru looked shook from the start it was so crazy, ive never been this hyped over starcraft
1:22 this is so cool. there are a lot of things people can do with coaching, but this type of coaching that prepares you for the heat of a tournament is rare and can only really be given by another player. pretty cool insight!
MARUUUUUUUU VS OOOOLLLIVEEIRAA!
That first game was the perfect example of "fancy play" vs "a brick through the window". That Oliveira attack was the equivalent of a Roach-Ravager timing. Immensely satisfying.
Love this SERIES LOVE STARCRAFT
Last protoss defense down o7
Liking and subscribing.
wow that was great
Game 3 - when he pulled the boys... wot
The best name I can think of for an adept and oracle combo is Adoricles
Inspired Terran Play!
THE BOYS!
Too be fair, i was not trained enough by Winter to be hyped for Olivera games, but i guess now i need to
Some of the best SC2 players on the planet weren't prepared for Oliviera either 🤣🤷♂️
27:30 what song is it ? :)
The boys holding it down!
Protoss are the goat.
chin-toss always be my hero
lets go~~!!!
I expected hero to get this far
Great cast. Love your style.
Did I hear INnoVation?! And now I cant wait for TYTY to be back as well
23:13 holy shut, what a ballsy move. Love the siege up on the flank to keep those archons and immortals away. Wow.
The emperor is proud this day, do the terran proud son... Do the terran proud. ~literally every general right now.
What a series this man is pulling off.
Boy those never-ending Protoss nerfs sure look increasingly reasonable, what with Protoss dominating all the tournaments and totally not losing every single time to other races. Yup. More nerfs would make even more sense.
In the first game herO just slightly missed timing with the Colossus, imagine it being there when he had the battery still up.
Nice work casting the greatest games Winter and great job Oliver's!!
olivera has become really interesting to watch. hopefully he improves throughout the year. really would like to see him win something big.
I really appreciate the in depth analysis of the games and tought processes involved in the decision making Winter, It adds a lot more to just watching the live games
I will not be surprised if this wil be the standard tvp build.
It's Olive Time. _mmm olives on pizza_
Terran always will be the cheat race :D
terran through the defense. it is a signature phrase.
Sooooo change name win game?
I LIKE PROTOSS
Loled again
The BOOOOOOOYS
oliviera is an AI
Thanks!
🦊👍👍
gotta admit this was the best finals in awhile, and it also showed how op terran is
That sustained marine stutter micro in game 1 was insane. I feel like event Byun would struggle to do that many that quickly in that short of time
It amazes me that people consider Terrans A-move (AKA stutter stepping) to be micro :D
@@andreaseriksson9225 the point gets across even if the term was wrong.
@@Tobeh He's probably not harping on the terminology but just saying that stutter stepping is not difficult enough to be considered micro
@@andreaseriksson9225 Very few terrans use A-move to stutter step and the distinction between macro and micro is not difficulty, it's where you focus your attention.
I honestly think it was fixed. This is the type of stuff China pays for.
It was in Poland. Don't insult all the other players and the ESL. I watched a lot of the matches from the event. It was professionally run. Incidentally there are no longer active servers in China for battlenet. They couldn't reach an agreement. I would imagine China's control over all things happening on the internet in China was probably part of it. Can't have democracy activists talking in Battle net chat without being monitored by the government
Get your politics out of this game mate.
Brainless take
the perfect commentary along with great gameplay really elevates this series to "series of the year status". edge of seat action throughout, outstanding stuff
My Life!
It Olive went according to plan, this Time
Get out
Thanks again man!
