Drake is Canadian, not African American, he doesn't share the AA experience. He grew up in an affluent Jewish community and has no understanding of the urban American experience he cosplays in his music. No one ever said he wasn't Black, we're saying he's not like us.
"Why you doing this?" I've thought about this a lot since Not Like Us dropped. I think Drake offends Kendrick on a personal level. Kendrick is a guy who thinks about all kinds of shit, and he studies black history and black culture with the intention of bettering himself and being a better artist. Drake studied black culture, too, but he did it to get rich. That's the thing that pisses Kendrick off at the core. And I mean on top of that, Drake fucked with a lot of the people who befriended and helped him, he just uses and abuses people. This is why Kendrick calls him a colonist; Drake looked at black culture and said, "how can I make money off of this?" instead of wanting to become a closer part of that culture, of *his* culture. Some people were calling this gatekeeping from Kendrick, but the fact that Kendrick calls Adonis a black man and a better man than Drake means it's not about skin color or what percentage of your heritage is black, it's entirely about Drake's colonizer attitude, of wanting to exploit instead of wanting to celebrate. And there's one more thing: In these songs, Kendrick is only being as harsh to Drake as Kendrick is to himself on all of his albums. So many of Kendrick's songs are about calling himself out for the bad shit he's done that he hates himself for. Go watch God is Gangsta and understand that entire song is Kendrick talking to himself: ruclips.net/video/4wZytWFm7x0/видео.html&ab_channel=KendrickLamarVEVO Drake says Kendrick is a fake black messiah? Sorry, Kendrick already said that in Blacker the Berry. Drake says Kendrick has beat his wife in the past? Sorry, Kendrick already said that in Mr Morale and the Big Steppers. The only original diss Drake came up with is "Kendrick is short and has small feet." yeah, who cares man.
Where on Mr Morale did KDot say he beat his wife? In fact, KDot told bbl to keep it a friendly fade. He also said I hear somebody lying. Smell somebody lying. He also mentioned the fact that bbl paid for info on him and his family. Lastly he said AK was compromised bc he was in Whitney's IG lurking and looking for Intel. After KDot explained all of that in Euphoria and 6:16, bbl tells Whitney to bend it over and shake that arse for free. So,, why is anybody still confused as to why KDot danced on bbl's grave?
@@cambiata I have some guy braking down lyrics on a playlist. This is definitely culture v industry. Coming from a country that did colonization, I can see it in the present day playing out in real time. History being bought, it's called assimilation of a culture for financial gain. I so agree with what you've said. Edit: for context the White settlers traded with native Americans for much the same reason.
As a fellow Gemini I can state assuredly that KDot told drake exactly what, why & how he was going to come for him if he didn't cede quote euphoria "..my sixth sense is telling me to off him, gonna blick ninjas all in their coffins.."~ not like us is kendrick standing over th open casket double fist emptying th clip while we laff & dance ~ this is how you win a rap battle...STRATEGY AND BARS 👏🏾
Love seeing fellow Brits as into this as I am, this has been historic. Kdot is next level, each new diss elevates the ones before it. Masterful execution.
"jabroni" kinda fell out sometime in the 00's i think but has certainly seen an upswing in usage in the past 2-3 years personally, i cant speak for all of U.S. of course, but here around Chicago i definitely have been using it more.
You all held your own being in England I assume! Your debates about the bars are HILARIOUS Black bandana understood the assignment 🔥 very …entertaining 😂x
This is pretty good analysis from afar, but you guys have to tap in to the culture & landscape of hip hop & the west coast. There’s layers upon layers. Anyone walking into this situation, unprepared & as cocky as Drake, were determined to lose. Kendrick has been planning this for years…
What's sad is ,the one guy don't seem to understand why the slave line was offensive,, and also you all don't seem to know your history, our ancestors could have been on the same boat you just got drop off over there,, SMDH and if you look into your history you would know not many years ago your people across the water just payed the last of the slave owners off over there for the freedom of your ancestors yes just a few years ago. it's so disheartening because these are grown men, please do better.✌🏾
"Jabroni" used to be a real thing Americans say, but that was like back in the 90s, lol. Kendrick revived it!
The Rock ❤
Well we all still say it here in thy west coast and yes The Rock brought that word to light but it originated from the Iranian wrestler the Iron Sheik
Italians on east coast been using it
Rock.. the sweet chin music was a Shawn Michael's finisher.

“I see dead people” is from a movie called the sixth sense. If you listen to Euphoria he mentions the main actor. Good movie.

The fact that not one of yall know what a 69 is crazy. 😂😂
"Why would Kendrick do this"? To dance on his grave, that's why 😂

Guy on the far left knows his stuff, real hip hop fan.
"Cesse and desist, you don't 'like that" record" Drake is definitely the other "Vaginal option" for that one.

Idk if you knew this, but if you want to hear the full song, no pauses, just listen to the original track on Kendrick's channel.
