Absolutely brilliant song but this is also one fantastically well produced song. Mix, master and production value are just incredible. Giving off Nigel Godrich vibes in the best way possible.
Yes. The recording drips so much atmosphere; I’d love the song just for that alone. And for some reason, and it’s probably b/c of these delicately produced atmospherics, my mind just relentlessly keeps taking me to the ‘Babe Rainbow’-era House of Love work from the early 90’s, ‘Yer Eyes’ in particular. Totally different song, but produced by Warne Livesey, who might have been an influence on Will Archer. Just a curious geek wondering out loud :)
At this age I don’t have the reliable concert friends that I used to have. This one is important enough to hit alone. This young lady has really hit the spot since first hearing method actor. So happy there’s a new album and older albums to feast on. Important artist that I hope lots of folks hear soon
As a guitarist who doesnt really care about drums tbh, i’m always noticing and appreciating the drums in all her songs! Super strong playing and incredible production, they sound soooo good!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees a lot of Radiohead influence in her music and yet it's still very much original and hers. I love her music so much.
beautiful song. Like the previous ones, but there is a more marked jazz-fusion soul, very suggestive and innovative for the way in which it blends with the pop matrix of the song. Truly hypnotic and with beautiful sounds.
I think that it might just be a 4/4 in the end, but to my brain, each phrase feels about 8 beats long, so the song structure has this elongated 8/4 feel. It's kind of cleverly done, b/c, even if you count it as 4/4, there's this rapid succession of extra beats between the main beats 3 and 4, which throws our listener brains off kilter. Each verse phrase seems to be 8 beats long, but she starts singing a new phrase on the last beat of the previous one, which heightens that rolling feel. It almost has that circular feel of Peter Gabriel's 'Solisbury Hill', which is a 7/4, but I think this one is a 4/4 or an 8/4. It's just that the production is pretty clever, and it makes you guess :)
Haven’t come across an artist I have been so into in as long as I can remember. I try to listen to music from other artists out of fear that I will get tired of listening to her but after one tract I go back to listening to her.
Was it hard to stay? Was it cold decision That moved me away? I just want your arms to bring me closer There is no point testing you Both us black and blue No escape Come on, do some harm Want all your focus Old sensation Don't let them in Let go, hold that vision Hung up, I'm headed for ya Condemnation Wait up, I'm heading for your Complications Your mutations watch this Don't stop, please just listen I'm unchained resistance Unashamed, you're vicious Lonely as I keep my distance Keep up darling, there's no place to hide Once the night has fallen They gon' drown this light Does his heart not state A controlled incision? I'm unbound this way I just want your arms to bring me closer There is not much left to lose Not this flesh - this fruit No escape Come on, do some harm Need all your focus Old sensation Don't let them in Let go, hold that vision Hung up, I'm headed for ya Condemnation Wait up, I'm heading for your Complications Your mutations watch this Don't stop, please just listen I'm unchained resistance Unashamed, you're vicious Lonely as I keep my distance Keep up darling, there's no place to hide Once the night has fallen They gon' drown this light
beautiful song, but to your video editor/director, be aware this kind of shaky hand cam constantly spinning visual 'style' actually causes motion sickness for a lot of people and it's literally painful to watch for some . love the music tho*

Exactly what I was thinking

I'm really hearing The National in this song, especially the drums and cadence.

Same, just found this last night and already I'm considering penciling in the Denver tour stop

It's hard to pick favourites from this new album (because every song is so good), but this is one of them for me.

As a guitarist who doesnt really care about drums tbh, i’m always noticing and appreciating the drums in all her songs!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees a lot of Radiohead influence in her music and yet it's still very much original and hers. I love her music so much.

This song is driving over a body of water at sunset Energy
Yes! Or driving through the desert in an 80’s convertible at dusk.
Aim for the sky, you're a star. Natural home. ❤
Goddam what time signature was this song in? Incredible. I'm getting massive Radiohead vibes in the best way possible.

Definitely getting radiohead vibes in the ending.

Hi, I'm following you since 2 years. Your new sound is brilliant.
🔥
Was it hard to stay?
Was it cold decision
That moved me away?
I just want your arms to bring me closer
There is no point testing you
Both us black and blue
No escape
Come on, do some harm
Want all your focus
Old sensation
Don't let them in
Let go, hold that vision
Hung up, I'm headed for ya
Condemnation
Wait up, I'm heading for your
Complications
Your mutations watch this
Don't stop, please just listen
I'm unchained resistance
Unashamed, you're vicious
Lonely as I keep my distance
Keep up darling, there's no place to hide
Once the night has fallen
They gon' drown this light
Does his heart not state
A controlled incision?
I'm unbound this way
I just want your arms to bring me closer
There is not much left to lose
Not this flesh - this fruit
No escape
Come on, do some harm
Need all your focus
Old sensation
Don't let them in
Let go, hold that vision
Hung up, I'm headed for ya
Condemnation
Wait up, I'm heading for your
Complications
Your mutations watch this
Don't stop, please just listen
I'm unchained resistance
Unashamed, you're vicious
Lonely as I keep my distance
Keep up darling, there's no place to hide
Once the night has fallen
They gon' drown this light
