Every member of this band is incredible. The drummer is getting lots of respect deservedly, but Nilüfer playing mellow prog-rock guitar while singing with such a passionate, elastic voice is 👌*chef's kiss! The bassist is perfect at locking-in to the subtle 4/4 bounce of the drums, and her lines are original, fluid, and beautifully low. The saxophonist/pedal-synth-wizard/singer adds such flavour while staying right in the mood of each song. Such a crispy, but low, dark, and bouncy sound they have crafted. Mmmh! I want to know what cymbals that drummer has. That big hit on the ride at 4:29 sounds HUGE and I love it! (His crash is a meinl ...something)
Nilufer Yanya and crew always bring the heat. Every time they perform their songs live, it feels like I'm hearing them for the first time. Its a beautiful experience. I hope Nilufer and Jazi Bobbi never stop working together. They've created a unique and magical sound!
So there's some folk out there claiming that Rock, and the Guitar, is dead. As long as there are talented innovators like Nilufer making new music with new voices, the future is in good shape.
I think people are saying that because rock isn’t in the mainstream as much anymore but outside of it like in this case, rock is very much alive and well
I love how much Cheryl is a super fan of Nilüfer. When she talks about turning to her friend during the show and saying "this is my favorite song" before every song they play, that is the sign of an amazing album. My favorite song from Painless changes constantly and is why this is my AOTY. Also love seeing Jazzi Bobbi play with her effects pedals - adds a nice touch to these live versions
imagine being an artist and come to a place like kexp where they have so much good questions and visions about your work like that. im so happy just to watch cheryl fangirling for them!!!!
La musicienne au saxo, voix, clavier ! Quel son! Inspirée tout le temps ! En fait j’apprécie en grand chaque musicien du groupe. La basse est enfouie dans le mix, sais pas pourquoi.
@@TheEilatan3 I have to confess I have not listened much to Radiohead, but my younger brother has! I listen mostly to classical and jazz, but this is WONDERFUL! I hope I still have an open mind. Age:78

KEXP is bringing out so much genious bands and single performer. I am a fan of so much music broadcasted here...and I do really love Nilüfer Yanya !!!! 💓 KEXP, the most music is even not really known in Germany so I am proud to belong to the audience of your show for years !!!!!
My man James Acaster knocking it dead on the drums!
Ellis Dupuy is sick! Recent fav drummer he lights these songs up
dude so much touch taste and tone! Whole band tones on lock really.
Soft, discreet, flawless drummer. Wow.
he's truly rad - wouldn't be the same without him

Damn I love the tone of that guitar
An always on chorus/vibrato pedal with some tastefully applied phaser and reverb can really take you places
I've discovered so much good music thanks to kexp. Shout out to their sound engineers, too. It must not be easy to sound this good, consistantly.
Me, too.
Amen. They do a fantastic job!

Best album of 2022 so far, I can't see it being challenged for me
I felt the same way after day 1 of its release
Besides the fact that their music is so original they sound together very very smooth and pleasant.
An old man from Sweden listens to this and thinks "this is gorgeous music".
You must like radiohead !

New to me. Most excellent!
Incredible performance. Gotta love Ellis on the drums
The unreal Drummer Ellis Dupuy is also with a legendary group Puma Blue. Guys a beast and fits in this amazing project as well
I saw them live for this tour in Seattle, and was standing right next to the drummer. He is so GOOOOD! I’ve been trying to figure his name. Thanks!
yessir Puma Blue is going down as of the modern classics of this generation

She’s so fucking cool. Whole band rocks, saw them in Austin. I keep watching this over and over. They rock!

THE BEST ARTSIST AND BAND IVE HEARD IN AGES. Is the drummer one of the producers by chance?
