Surfing San Diego Reef : 4K SLAW Session - 12-07-2023

A new and one of first winter swells was in the water and hitting the San Diego area on 12-07-2023. A handful of surfers paddled out at San Diego reef break for a mid afternoon session. The wind started to die off earlier than usual. So the surfers like Daniel Anthony decided to get a session in before the very high tide scheduled for sunset. There were a few 4-6 foot face sets that rolled through. Although it was definitely a crap shoot picking the ground swell waves from some that would decide to mush burger after just one turn. Either way, the conditions were clean and only at max 10 people in the lineup. So the surf session was definitely worth paddling out.

Just one of those rare days with no crowds. I think everyone surfed in the morning and then were waiting for the sunset session. But the winds died off early around 1:30pm so I met up with Daniel there and once we saw a couple empty sets he was on it. Tide came up super fast though and swamped it.
