Dropping my personal story here, I helped my dad open an apple account back in 2016, I also taught him where and how to purchase iTunes gift cards because he doesn't have access to a credit card and all he does is work so he didn't know that you could exchange real money for a digital currency. Now come one day where I stumbled upon a plastic bag full of scratched off iTunes card under his bed while I was cleaning his room, there were numerous $100 cards probably 50 of them. I had to reset his apple account password through his email of which I created and entrusted to him, and gave a valid excuse of security purposes. While he was at work, I logged in and checked his history and there was constant pages after pages of transactions. Within 2 months he had spent over 10k... I was furious at myself, furious that I introduced him to to this addiction. I immediately informed my mom and we sat my dad down for a talk, he admitted he went overboard and etc, things happened. During this period, I developed depression and failed to take my life twice. Nowadays, even though they constantly remind me I wasn't at fault, I still blame myself for this but it's gotten better.
This is such a heartbreaking story 💔 . You are mature and wise beyond your years with compassion and integrity. I know it's hard NOT to take blame but as a father myself, I can assure you I would never blame my son for the his good intentions and my bad actions. You are an amazing young man and I hope you continue being so.
Thank you so much for sharing and this be a warning that us parents are MORE like to make mistakes in this regard than our kids because we have access to the resources to do so. We need to be better adults, and parents to set the right example for our kids.

@@PayneBlade the walls people hit can really drive people insane. It pushes them towards the ultimatum of having to wait vs having to spend. I tend to go for the best deals possible and have never gone for any of the pricier things: that’s $50 and up in my eyes. Even so, I spend every here and there thinking, $5, 10, $20 isn’t a big deal until it adds up. It isn’t a matter of affording to throw that money away. More so, it’s me feeling that even small purchases are their own addiction. I don’t like spending even $20 on some of the things in this game, but they sometimes make it irresistible. They know what they’re doing. These companies/devs have no shame.

payne, when gore magala ken came out and a youtuber said i needed him to progress the farthest in story mode i went and got him to SSS+++++, i told myself it would only be one time and that its an exclusive character so its "worth it". I went down the rabbit hole took an advance now im in debt $2k and im I might not be able to pay rent this month + groceries. I didn't know at the time and I wish i could have refunded. Hope more people dont make the same mistake. First gatcha game lured in by the street fighter brand wish i never found this game

When I first started playing gacha games (and this was before gacha games were on phone apps), I remember falling for that urge to stay on top of my server and at first it was logging on everyday to do all the dailies because if I missed a day that was exp, level, gear, etc...lost and it was a dire thing for me. Then, there was a special event with the OP gear that would put me way above the rest. It was the only gacha game I ever spent over 10k on, but I had other gacha games I spent 5k and 1k. I didn't suffer, but I could have definitely used that money for other things. Once I realized that playing the long game in a gacha game is better and all whales eventually leave, the ranking really doesn't matter. It was an experience for me for sure.
I have spent money on this game, but pennies compared to before, and im sitting on 125k gems like 90% of it if from just playing the game.

I have shared with you before my spending habits 30$ a week max and 20$ at one time max and I set this limits based on every day items I buy already like one meal a day for me is between 15$ to 25$ depending where me and my family eat out (when I don’t cook lol) and I normally only eat out once or twice a week so for me when I line these numbers up I know I’m within a working budget that I understand the impact of and that helps me remember when I’m starting to go to far and I have played so many gachas over the years I know that what is expensive in the game now will be cheaper in the future and not buying everything at once you don’t get burnout so fast! I have always been poor and a lot of my family are on hard drugs and it’s sad to see people you love destroying themselves but I have to admit it has helped me be a better person and be as careful has I can be with addiction bc I have found myself struggling too not with gaming but with a mindset of it’s ok I can do it today and stop tomorrow and it’s scary bc tomorrow never comes! So be proud of what you do today don’t wait till tomorrow! Sorry for the long comment I just feel so welcome here to talk and thank you all for that!

nice video. a lot of people needed to hear this including me. this is my first gacha game and i only downloaded because i thought street fighter is pretty cool and wanted to check out the mobile game. started with the small packs and snowballed from there a bit till i reeled myself back lol i can definitely understand what your saying about the way you feel when you get the power and then hit another wall!!

I also downloaded the game because I've loved Street Fighter for years, and I suppose thankfully in some sense, spending has never been an issue for me, but monitoring my playtime has been a struggle across multiple games I've played throughout my life. I was reminded of this immediately on day 1 where I played for 13 hours straight, stopping only to eat. Indulgence of this sort is particularly tough for me, but I have a much better handle on it a couple or so weeks into my experience with the game and I'm enjoying it and still making progress on stuff IRL that leaves me more fulfilled than the game, as much as I still enjoy it. Excellent video from you. Thank you for this. I always tell these 3 stories to people to caution them against spending crazy especially in gacha games.
Story 1: I play DBZ Dokkan Battle regularly. Back in 2018, they announced EZA battles where they would upgrade old units and they put the emphasis this would be LIMITED TIME. so I'm thinking back then, oh man they might never run the event again. And they dropped Golden Frieza (Angel) who was the leader skill for that event. Mind you back then and STILL NOW, Dokkan has NO PITY (meaning there's no point where you're guaranteed the banner unit) very much like SF Duel. We had ways to get much cheaper stones back then for summons, but on that banner I spent the equivalent of $1500 (regular price) worth of stones (It wasn't actually this much out of pocket with the discounts, probably closer to $200) without even realizing it, before I pulled 1 copy of the unit. Also, this was 4 months before anniversary where you knew you would be pulling for whatever the unit was at the time. And this was just to clear the event and I was never gonna use it again. You have to be really careful when you get itchy fingers to summon for specific units on games with no pity, cause you can end up sinking a ton of money. I also was like the kid with Akuma, for Gohan units, and it caught up real quick cause they're ALWAYS gonna make a new version of that character and you're gonna want to pull.
Story 2: I used to work at Gamestop. The amount of customers I would see coming in to buy currency for these gacha games was insane. I had a customer who was dropping $100 per week on currency, and he didn't have it like that. Because they just HAD to have the new unit. It is an addiction that is very hard to fight and it gives you a rush very similar to gambling. There's a reason gacha games are banned in some countries. Be very careful. There were even kids who dropped $20 every week of their allowance on Fortnite. Spending on gachas is just like microtransactions. And also "acquiring" your parents cards, trust me when I say the broken trust, the feelings of hurt, aren't something you'll just be able to recover from EVEN IF they get the money back or refunded.
Story 3: Gacha games do not last forever. ALL Gacha games at some point will come to an end, yes I know I said above I play Dokkan Battle which is about to hit the 8th year anniversary. But many games do not have the longevity of them. I used to play Tales of Crestoria, that game made it barely past a year and a half. Tales of Luminaria, another Gacha game didn't even make it to a year (8 months) before it went out. People spent $1000s on these games and eventually the game service got closed. And it wasn't like they could just get those purchases back because once you hit a certain point, your bank won't approves the refund regardless of the game going out of service. You have to consider is me spending all this today gonna feel good, if the game doesn't make it to 1 year.
I say all this to say yes, if you got it like that, aint no one telling you how to spend. But please spend responsibly. Because trust me, they WILL make a Cyber Akuma, they WILL make an Oni, they WILL make Evil Ryu. There's eventually gonna be a collab probably with some other fighting game or anime, and then you're gonna want to spend on that too. Once, you open the door it's very hard to close.
Amazing examples bro. I applaud you for your commitment to this message and thank you for taking the time to write all this. I also played Dokkan for a while and stopped for many reasons. I have seen that games evolution for a long time and there have been many instances my friends spent for a new character release but never really needed it and that was developed over time of just bad habits.
As for games closing, I also suffered the same issue when I was the main content creator for ninja tribes and the attack on titan game. Both shut down leaving people with 10s of thousands missing.
New characters will indeed come out and power creep will eliminate all that hard earned cash people spent to enjoy a unit for 2 months and back to the cycle we go. Thanks again for taking the time to put this together
One thing that I do to help me calm down my spending/addiction is usually when I whale and I go over 5k + or any amounts and I dont feel comfortable doing anymore. I usually transfer all my money from my banks to a investments accounts whether it stocks or cryptos and just let my money chill there for a day or two and transfer money back to my bank afterward. It will help your mental when you see your banks account with 0 dollars and that where reality kick in.
That's a super smart idea! I also just remove my cc from my Google account and this forces the issue every time to remind me "Nope". I can't even download other games

I get it’s fun and that thrill or sense of getting it before everyone, but please if you don’t have the funds don’t set yourself up trying to hurry max this character. I have over 950 divination, 789 standard, 699 Faction and 1085 friendship tokens. I have 215K in gems and over 2 million in breakstone. I been hoarding and saving up a bunch waiting for certain characters. But, this isn’t to brag. I collect and sell comic books, baseball, football and basketball cards for a side hobby. I work full time as a RN at two hospitals. I have the means to spend but I also I understand the importance of being patient and not getting caught up on the sprint. Please be mindful and careful with your spending!

its a real addiction people literally spend their savings on becoming the best, the biggest whale, the top rank, to carry their guild, there are so many excuses. 100% agree, if you cant afford it dont do it, being in debt is horrible and not worth it. I typically spend £30 in a space of like 6 months and then stop and thats my way to support a game i enjoy, but i have a decent job and prioritise on family and bills first. Good message brother

If it's an allowance/birthday money I'm totally for the person blowing it on a gacha. I wasn't very rich growing up, and my allowance for two dollars a day lunch money at the school cafeteria. If I wanted to buy a game it meant no lunch for a month and a half. Blowing an annual financial windwall on some bull* will be a formative experience, I'm almost sure the endorphin rush will be gone within the month.
Within a few hours I think you start to feel the effects or whenever you get a bill and are like "oh damn.."what a horrible feeling to know you that your paychecks now belong to a dev lol

I've read this book The Power of Fun it talks about social media, digital device addictions taking away ppls ability to have true fun and enjoy life to its fullest. As someone who had gotten caught with something similar that the kid was going to try, it's not worth it. Not only because at the end of the day, it might provide an hour, a day, a week - heck, even a month's worth of fun if you're lucky, tops, but the impact is much greater than that.
They found out a while later because they regularly check their finances and I was punished pretty severely, which much later on I've come to respect the decision (in the moment it didn't feel super great). When you start messing with people's livelihoods it's not just a game any more.

" I AM ASURA" but akuma isn't asura..!! asura is actually a capcom charcter that has its own game called Asura's wrath and asura fought akuma and oni in his game.. and at the google store 2 weeks ago I wrote review says we want asura in this game as a collaboration charcter and they responded to me twice and said send this review to our email.. so maybe we will get something hype after akuma

Currently I have sss+5 mad ryu and elena and was worried that in my main line up, mad ryu was almost feel wasted if replaced with trendy cammy or stunt my growth. What are your thoughts?

You are a good guy. Sometimes i act impulsive in Gachagames too and i even realised one time i lose control but at the end i came to mind and didnt run into debt. These kind of games are very dangerous and im happy i just paid only 1 dollar in SF duel so im F2P and i will stay at that even when im stuck. In other gachas i paid alot. The story about the kid made me sad. Those actions can even ruin his parents,the relationship to them etc. There need to be regulations that those things cant happen. These companies know this but they dont care or they wouldnt release those mechanics. This mechanics even cost lifes. You can read sometimes from people who ran into debt bc of that and commit suicide. All bc of some worthless pixel characters.

As a HUGE Akuma fan…I wouldn’t go as far as spending money for a gacha game…I owned Akuma figures and Funko pop but NEVER would I spend money unless guaranteed

Gatcha games are vicious and pray on people with this type of addiction. People have spent so much on games like Genshin and it is just a pixel like Payne said. If this Akuma thing goes south I'd stop the game too cuz I dont want to play a game and makes you buy premium currency to get characters we like. At least in Genshin you can save and save and finally get the character you want.

Not my proudest moment. Never spent $2k on a gacha in two weeks in my entire life. Then for some reason this game got me. Haven't spent a dime since then and am feeling that emptiness and boredom that I can't even imagine how whales feel. Playing another gacha Panilla Saga as F2P and having so much more fun. Gonna wait for Akuma Gouken etc.

Tbh, this game is literally the worst when it comes to getting people to spend. Mad popups for everything and “deals” everywhere. More than I have ever seen and I play alot of games. This one has no shame. Be careful.

This game doesn’t deserve any money whatsoever. There is an in-game bug which the developers have failed to fix for weeks. The sound notoriously cuts out after 5 mins of playthrough. Not worth shit in my textbook. Those who spend money on this game don’t have a brain. It’s like going to car shop and asking for a Ferrari but buying a junk car for the same price instead!
Some are just way too invested from the jump sadly but I always say don't invest anymore and just play to enjoy
I have to disagree with you here. It mainly comes down to personal responsibility. I can sympathize that the victim is underage but the parents should really be doing better to guide and educate their children. I have as little sympathy for the adults that dig themselves into a hole as I do for my former friends who didn’t clean up their acts and made it to prison. If you’re a fully grown adult and can’t afford to heavily spend on gacha games but still do then you deserve your financial plight.
