This was posted 7 years ago but dude you are a godsend for me in 2024! Great video for me, a newbie. I’m happy I found your channel as I’m on my embroidery journey!
Leah Sauceda my friend actually sews her fingers together for fun. She only sticks the needle through the first layer of skin so it doesn’t bleed, but it’s still quite disturbing .
got my first order in today. i announced my hobby to everyone and showed them my work and someone asked me to make a patch of their album cover so.. yay, i’m v happy right now!
adsrotufs Soho sew it on something super sturdy like a denim or canvas, this is easier. You can also use a thinner woven fabric like yardage or poplin from the fabric store but tbh the thicker your fabric the easier your life is going to be. Also this will make your patch non iron on so you'll have to sew it on.
Thank you so much for putting out a high-quality DIY video. It's nice to see people showing tutorials for high-quality goods that will actually last, and not just a bunch of hot-glue crap. Subbed and liked.
I have been trying to transfer my images onto the fabric, but they never turned out good enough. Thanks to you, now I will try putting the drawing into the hoop with the fabric. As a beginner in embroidery, I cannot tell you how happy I am right now. Thank you!
for future reference here's some editing advice. For projects like this where your hands are moving a lot doing a speed up video makes it really hard on the eyes, I would recommend just doing montage and dissolve cut different levels of progression next to each other. That way we could not only see what you're doing but also it would be easier to watch!
I saw this tutorial a bunch of years ago when I was first starting to do embroidery and since then I've been running a (semi) successful hand embroidery business! Thank you!
this is exactly the kind of tutorial i was looking for as I m pretty perfectionistic and want my patch to look as good as possible thanks for making it!
I'm a perfectionist too! I almost didn't make a RUclips channel cause I wanted the first one to be perfect... but finally decided I needed to start somewhere. haha so don't worry about making mistakes with your first patch:) I sure did.
This is the first video of yours I've seen and it's super high quality, the tutorial is very informative, the patch looked so professional and your intro is really cute lol
I wish I had seen this video when I made one a few months ago. adding the glue is a helpful tip! When I did the outline, it frayed like crazy and made it super difficult
I saw this yearrrs ago, and couldn't do this because I was like 12. Now I'm 17, and I finally got myself embroidery string and hoops. This is my little hobby now!
This is the first video I watched on this channel, and now it's my absolute favorite channel. Super chill, and a bunch of awesome DIY's that aren't overdone. Great job dude. 👌
Doing your satin stitch like that wastes so much thread! Just come back up right next to where you ended on the top side. It's much more efficient and clean that way.
Istf patches take so much time and patience to finish them, so much work, yet it's so enjoyable. If anyone's not experienced in this sweing stuff I recommend cross stitching because it is much easier and takes less time and effort, it turns out better too than straight up trying embroidery with no experience. Great job my dude, the patch looks amazing, i hope one day I'll be able to make my patches look this professional too!
what's the name of the stitches used? I'm new to embroidery and I'm confused with all stitches names and techniques out there ... video too fast couldn't see very well what was going on because I know if I'm going to try it out it well look streaky as hell
2 nights ago i couldn't sleep and decided to learn how to sew to decorate a jacket i own. i ran out of patches to crudely sew on day, so naturally i landed here. this is gonna be interesting. guess i'm gonna do some shopping tomorrow. :')
i know this video is on the old side but it's super neat! so professional looking i love it. I'm just a little confused with the outline at the end, is each stitch coming through the back and then looping around back to the back again for the next stitch? or through the back and then the front close to the edge to complete the stitch? couldnt quite get it from the video but everything else is super great x
sorry for the confusion... Let's see if i can break it down.. So you com up from the back so that the knot is hidden. Then instead of looping the thread around and making your loops by coming up through the back every time.. you go down through the front.. and make your loops around the cloth by going down through the front every time.. this way the front will look better than the back cause you're not pulling stuff from the back to the front of the patch.... ... Oooo.. looking at what i just typed... I hope it helps and doesn't make things more confusing.
@@Shmoxd Hey, sorry to bother you again when this discussion is pretty much closed, but I had a question. Hold on, let me rewind the video and find it.. Edit: Oh yeah! It was the lines on the patch, how do those work? I'm having a little trouble understanding. Can you explain it?? Sorry and thanks 😂
Never realized how easy this would be (albeit tedious), however I find it strange you go through all that trouble to sew a new patch just to iron it on.
Darkavatar easier to sew separately then stick it on, otherwise you have to flip it inside out and back every time, with all the excess material of the top in the way.
@@Panic_Pickle I'm inexperienced, but you mean the piece of clothing that you'd be sewing it onto would have to get flipped around every stitch so you could access the needle? And if I'm right, what about the pinch method, where you pinch the fabric and the needle goes in one side and out the other, but when you straighten it out, the thread is on the underside as well. It's basically just a simple running stitch that they taught the kids who were having trouble, in a sewing class a long time ago. Would a running stitch be good enough to hold on a patch?
About how long did it take you to finish this smaller patch? I'm looking to make a set of solar system patches and need to know about how much time I'm about to sink into it lol
