Great video! I can't wait for the final version. Quick note: A fully activated conduit (all three planes surrounded with prismarine) will slowly kill mobs that are *very* close (assuming they are in the water). You are totally right, however, in that conduits are useless in this design. For those who aren't fully aware, the mob density check will give a hundred percent chance of spawning a new mob if no others exist in the density check area (9 by 9 chunk area centered on chunk in question). Therefore an instant Nether evacuation guarantees you 100% of possible spawns can occur (no throttling based on the density equation). Killing mobs close to the spawning location will take time. Magma blocks, lava, conduits, and even falling are slower than instant removal via Nether portals. The density cap is what will dictate most important rate-improving decisions. Another thought for you, Foxy: Adjusting the height of the drop shaft to just lower health of guardians as low as possible without killing them could turn this into a great XP grinder. Given a lack of sweeping edge in this version, it would have to be splash potion based. But since the total mob cap is set at 200, you could easily kill ~50 guardians at a time if set on a good timer. Also also (this is getting really long...) I wonder if the spawning of new mobs that get killed instantly is still affecting your rates. Obviously not via density cap, but maybe via spawning algorithm successful attempts preventing more attempts that same tick. This is obviously total guess work as I don't have insight into the actual algorithm, and I haven't attempted the necessary experiments myself, but it might still be relevant...
I think I'm going to go with this one unless I get another wave of inspiration. I'll show me building it in my survival world with a timelapse and explainer probably.
If the guardians are surface spawns then why not cover the top of the ocean with blocks to convert the drowns to cave spawns? That way the drowns don’t count towards the surface cap freeing it up for guardians.
FoxyNoTail yes but then at least there will be no surface spawns for hostile mobs as they will be limited to cave spawns only. As in your testing guardian spawning was affected by drowns(mostly surface) and other mobs(cave) maybe gaurdians come under both. So by covering the ocean surface spawn cap will be free.
This still works as of the village and pillage update (1.11.3 I think it is). In fact, using the commands to find out where the guardians spawn, it turns out that they now spawn in 4 block tall pillars with solid blocks, not just the single blocks. With this in mind, I made my glass columns 4 blocks tall with one water source at the top, and I get rates of about 45,000 items per hour. Initial tests gave me 7-800 items per minute. I couldn’t believe my eyes, I’ve been searching the internet for about a week now trying to find ways to make it work, and this is the only one that’s even gotten 1 item per hour. Thanks man. Also I’ll add that before I put in the nether portals, I checked to see how they spawn. It seems about 5 can spawn in one pillar at once, usually averaging 2 or 3, but only 9 can exist at a time; sending them to the nether is crucial for rates, as you can then spawn up to 9 guardians every tick (way too fast lmao).
This was a really cool idea, so I went over to my recently-cleared ocean monument and started putting half-slabs around in a 4-chunk radius (since that's the sim distance for Realms). It seems to be working already -- as I've been putting down slabs in the radius around where I'm going to build my AFK chunk, I have occasionally been surfacing and when I do, I find there are a ton of dead fish and bones floating. Guardians seem to be spawning regularly and killing off neighboring fish. I DID find one Drowned on a slab, once, who was standing still, but I'm wondering if he wandered over from a non-slabbed area. Overwhelmingly I have found Drowned just standing on un-slabbed areas so far.
Yep. Sea pickles is the easiest thing to farm ever. With literally a hand full of blocks you can get a double chest of them in 2 minutes! ruclips.net/video/OM_jWB6v6JM/видео.html
Hey Foxy -- do you have a world download available for this? I'm trying to replicate on my survival realm and figured out that I don't have the right positioning of my spawning locations. I've found 1, I'd like to use yours as a template to locate the rest. Thx!
@@foxynotailThanks for the reply! At the beginning of this episode you mentioned that GruvyGuy suggested the portal design to you. Can you elaborate at all? I've found all 25 of the locations where Guardians spawn, and I saw on your download the portals are -X, -Z relative to the spawning block locations, but on the realm they never glitch through. I've tried all four rotations around the spawning block. They just sit there.... Looking dumb. Any suggestions you could offer would be awesome.
I was using magma blocks in the spawning spots on my original design. I showed the design to Gruva and he said there was a faster design using portals. The faster portal design didn't use spawnong spots. It just had random glitched portal tiles around the guardian area that the guardians would randomly swim into. So I added portals to the spawning spots instead of magma blocks and thus the fastest guardian farm on bedrock was born. Of your guardians won't go through, move.the portals on block over so the guardians can swim into them. It will work just as well.
You're incorrect about conduits not killing guardians. I just watched in hermitcraft when they set the conduit above the top floor elder guardian chamber like you did, the elder guardian was slain by the conduit. When they went in to kill it, it was gone. Don't exactly remember which hermit it was, but i know which ones it wasn't for sure. So I would like to see a video how it doesn't work (yes, I know they're playing java edition, but a lot of things that happen there also happen in bedrock version as well). Hopefully this still works in a non-realm vanilla world. Just found a monument and planned to make cubfans version of the farm, but you mentioned they don't spawn in bubbles on bedrock. What if you left the spawn areas and cleared out the rest of the area and put bubbles around those areas? Would they still spawn? And would the bubbles carry them up or can they swim against them? I still want to make his version and in a way the bubbles still push them all up to the top and into a channel to a portal. That should increase the numbers easily. I'm not good at putting these things together and testing them out and especially not good with command blocks, but I definitely have ideas. It's the mechanics that I fail at.
I was wrong about conduits. Full power conduits do slowly damage mobs and eventually kill them but they're not a great addition to a farm as they kill mobs so slowly that the rates of the farm would be throttled. Mobs will NOT spawn in bubble columns on the bedrock edition of the game. You could have bubble columns around the area an hope that the guardians swam into them but that wouldn't be efficient and your rates would be very very slow, so probably not worth the effort.
@@foxynotail ok good to know. Thank you for that and for saving me TONS of time and effort lol. From what I've watched so far, you're scicraft of bedrock. In-depth details and tons of clear explanations of every step along the way.
It only shows your past videos no info for world download, can you send a link the directly to the page of world download please? Your farm is the most interesting farm i saw on youtube, need to check it out.
so 4th video in and i still have no freaking idea what the say 25 areas your using above the temple are. ive been working on the farm since the update came out and ive built 27 farms none of which work as good as any of your concepts. seriously what block do you spawn them on. 2 in from the corners ive got those 4 corners however the rest of them are what 7 or 8 or 9 or 10 blocks away from that? i just stayed up all night and built another garbage farm. i only get the corners working.
I'm sorry I didn't give exact coords. It wasn't a tutorial, just an idea. I'll write the dimensions in the description when I get time to work them out.
thanks bro im on my realm and its just ughh. legit survival. im sure you understand. i know its a concept not a tutorial. id also accept a world download if you cant be bothered to figure the dimensions. not sure if thats easier or not though. im on xbox same gt if youd rather show me.
Ummmm you might want to try a conduit because It does kill mobs I’ve just done a test with a drowned. 😁 I guess it must be hostile mobs it will deliver damage to.
I did try one. It did nothing. Plus I think you've got to be close to activate them and if you're close the guardians won't spawn. We really don't need conduits with this design.
FoxyNoTail Conduits do kill mobs, but the mobs (hostile) have to be really close and the conduit has to be a full power for it to work. But it would probably be inefficient.
Conduits do harm hostile mobs, but they have to be within an 8 block radius. Multiple nearby conduits will stack damage, but I don't think they do enough for it to be practical. Also I think they have to be walking on the sea floor for the damage to occur, as I have had many swimming drowned not get damaged as they swam after me while I dodged around a conduit testing this, so guardians may not even get damaged because they are constantly swimming.
Quick efficiency question. If you used 2 water source blocks instead of one and a prismarine block as your solid block attached to the portal wouldn't you be able to get some cave spawns as well?
FoxyNoTail i downloaded the world for testing the guardian farm but i dont get any guardians i killed all the zombie pigmans that came through the portals and it is on hard difficulty and still no guardians do this farm need 2 players or?

Lol, conduits definitely kill mobs...
Not fast enough. It takes ages as they slowly deal damage and the mob and player have to be close to the conduit so they're pointless for this design.
