i was there at this hospital around 1986 or 87 and the power still worked and intercom.all windows were intact.there were televisions and beds all over the place.and there was a homeless guy named melvin that lived in one of the rooms.
+DIMEDAMAGE That is cool!
It must have been Melvin who used to follow us kids home in the evenings after playing around that place all day. From where I lived we could walk a few minutes through the woods and get there. There was a guy who had followed us back through the woods a few times. He even came as far as our back yards one time.
Yup, I was in there about the same time, about '87 and '88. Power was on, the murals in the pediatric ward were still visible, and the autopsy room still had its refrigeration unit and porcelain table. Delightfully creepy. Never saw Melvin though.
@@CortnieFogo Hi from Kenton
my uncle, Melvin Reichelderfer, was caretaker of this building for many years after this hospital closed. I remember many of times going in here with only him in there. We got some cool things from here like bookshelves, etc. A man named Duke Fink bought it but never put the building to good use after the hospital closed.
+Maribeth Schneider How neat that you got to be in there with just your uncle afterward and what a shame that man bought it and did nothing with it!
Just so you know, TB is like luggage; you never actually get rid of it, and the initial treatment takes about a year...
I've been there I used to live in the red house infront.
+DIMEDAMAGE
Wild I just stumbled across this. I was born in 59 and as a small child TB was still deadly, but was being eradicated about when I was 10-12 ish. As kids our parents were careful of anyone who had TB since it was so deadly, they called them TB houses and no one entered. Thank God it is virtually gone!
Cortnie Fogo Nice video. I appreciate the advice at the end of your videos for other that might want to explore where you were. At around 12:00 seeing those upper floors collapsed was very dramatic. I look forward to seeing more videos from you. Keep it up! Your videos are interesting and entertaining.
Thank you
I live right by this, right behind the pony keg it’s a beautiful place to go, I love going to the roof and on top of the stairwell exit
Cool video! My grandma's mother (my great grandmother) died at this hospital of tuberculosis in the 1930s. So sad.
+Claire Schrimpf awww that is so sad, yet neat to know someone who was there.
my grandma lives by there! her backyard has access to the woods were the tb hospital is.
+Fireruby12 lucky!
@@CortnieFogo I've never been out there myself, though. Too chicken!
it was a paintball field in the late 90's early 00's the black stuff in the bags and on the floors are actually ground up tires we played on was a great field to play at untill was shut down because of the neighbors complaining. thank you for touring this location brought back some fun memories seeing paint still on the walls on the 2nd and 3rd floors
That is awesome! I have no idea it was a paintball field - that would have been fun!
grew up on Barryman blvd and played paintball back there weekly.. seeing her on the roof gave me anxiety because that roof was ready to fall in at anytime, even back in the mid 90s.. also me and my neighborhood friends would always see a figure standing in the east side second floor at different windows often. his name was Bill.
my grandma was there for three years got out around 1952-1953
Nice little tour. Thanks!
The thing you thought was a dishwasher was actually a freezer type thing as part of the morgue to keep dead bodies cool overnight or until they were ready to dispose of them. It's just missing the tray thing. They only had one because they didn't keep bodies for long.
thanks taylor
I actually explored this about then years ago. I didn't stay for long, however...I was in the big kitchen area when I heard a child say "hello"....we heard several other voices, also...be careful if you're going, I heard they arrest people there for tresspassing.
Krissy, thats rea.ly cool. We did not hear anyone's voices but that is so neat that you did!
our dvr picked up voice saying "won't tell" when we were talking about the direction we came in and which way to go. then I asked if that was the stairs and you can hear "yes" as a response. and also on second floor we captured a woman say "get out". I have a pic of a man in window on second floor where the room looks like an office with the big window on the inside. many orbs captured on film and we left a dvr for hours by itself and came back to it you can hear lockers slamming and shuffling throughout the time. also in the building near the smoke stack we could hear tapping noises get closer and closer and the dvr only captured the one closet to the mic but you can hear a person from our group say I'm freaking out because they could hear whatever was coming at them come closer and closer.
In 1962 I was 14 and had a friend who's father was a patient there. We could visit the wing he was on.
Drug resistant TB is a problem again so you never know; we might see hospitals like this again. Great video though. The vegetation is pretty given the setting.
+David Church I liked the greenery up the smoke stack outside the hospital - very pretty!
Tuberculosis is festered from mildew in musty places. Not anything that you'd ever know you contracted until it was too late. I'm really surprised that with penicillin being discovered in the fifties it wasn't wiped out sooner.
Actually just went back there last week. everything still looks the same except they have gotten rid of all the vegetation, demolished the entrance to the building as well as the smokestack. Crazy cool building!
Was there last night alot of the upper floors on the right side are destroyed had to and some hallways had to climb ledge to ledge on the windows lol
@@o_u_i_j_a_6634 yeah, the side with the basement has collapsed inside for the most part. got caught by cops last time i was there so i haven’t been back in awhile lol
@@charliespyker2015 we didn't have no trouble we stayed for about 3 to 4 hours i believe maybe a little longer
@@o_u_i_j_a_6634 i used to go back there all the time, probably 20 times over the past 2 years and never had any trouble but the last time i went was about 3 months ago. lucky for us we got caught by a pretty chill officer.
@@charliespyker2015 hell yeah you got a little story then
My grandfather was a patient there until he died.. he didn't even have tuberculosis, he used to sneak out and go home and eat dinner. So if he had TB the whole family would've had it..
Most Tb hospitals became general hospitals after the need for TB specific sequestering died down
I plan on coming here next month and bringing some haunting gear. Any idea how easy it’s gonna be getting into now?
you ever do it?
@@christopherpape4823 not yet, waiting on the weather to be decent enough and need someone to come along with
I jumped so hard when you scared the spider! I'm terrified of spiders lol
Hehehe
Well that was fun , thanks
I live in lima ohio and this is a place that you really dont wanna be at especially at night
Why
@@o_u_i_j_a_6634 because it's a condemned building all the floors are pretty much caved in and the grounds keeper lives right next to it and he always is going around the property plus he has cameras set up every where so unless you wanna deal with a lawsuit and jail time be my guest it's just not worth it plus that used to be the party place for kids my age when I was younger back in the early 2000s
@@fortherecord6225 only the floors on the right half of the building are collapsed there we had a blast there at night
@@o_u_i_j_a_6634 So me and a group of friends came here, we were exploring, having fun. Had to dodge cops and people living in the area.
It was around 4-5 o clock by the time we get there so it's still daytime outside.
Decent walk up to the front of the hospital. Its Dark, very dark inside.
The floors were slippery, damp and muddy but people had left wooden boards to walk on.
So me and my friends go room to room looking around. We find old equipment, calcified pipes, candle wax, shotgun shells and graffiti everywhere.
We come across this door. I remember it was white and very light. And it had a medium sized square hole in it I pushed it with two fingers. Barely any force needed.
THAT DAMN DOOR. its like the only one i remember at all.
We continued on.
Mostly concrete stairs but the floors were caved in. On the 2nd floor 2 of my friends found a room with a black pentagram.
They had to go out of a window and shimmy across the edge of the windowsill.
I just went to the edge of the floor and peeped inside to see half of what they saw.
After that we came into a fairly open room with shit hanging from the ceiling.
The same to buddies from before, start grabbing and pulling on things in there.
We all just laughing, enjoying exploring.
We get to the last top floor and theres a metal staircase to get to the roof.
We want to take a picture of the scenery around so we do parkour to climb up on the very top of the hospital.
Im bigger so it took a few tries. I did it tho.
We are having a good time but we decide we seen everything. Getting ready to leave and want to head down stairs to the lower floors.
Theres like 5 of us btw. So we back track down all the stairs in a line. I was at the back.
We make it to this long, dark, slightly muddy hallway.
People were trying to not fall down into the mud. They let me go first because I didnt really care.
We were talking amoungst ourselves and get halfway down the hallway.
I heard a loud *BANG* behind me.
I turn around and said "Woah that was Loud" Everyones giggling like yeah sure was.
It was kinda close it sounded like.
We continued for like 5 more steps
*BANG* it was even Louder this time and even closer.
Nobodys smiling anymore and i can tell we all spooked. I can't see anything down there.
Im walking faster now to get to THAT DAMN DOOR, with light shining thru the square hole.
We get a few more paces down. Then.
*BANGGGG*
The LOUDEST boom ive heard is right behind all of us.
ME AND MY BUDDY ARE FUCKING SPRINTING.
I didn't even dare look behind me
I get to the door first. AND IT DOESN'T BUDGE AT ALL.
I'm shaking the door and get a grip where the glass should be.
I CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR. My Friend is like 6ft. And he eventually join the army. WE CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR.
It felt like forever.
I HAD TO GO. SWEAR ON EVERYTHING.
I see a huge light to my LEFT.
I book it and leaped out the window. Not caring what floor i was on.
I slapped the ground when i landed to catch myself.
When i monkey slapped the ground there was this green avocado lighter that was on the ground. That was in the right spot i guess i just picked it up. Idk.
I thought i was the last one out.
I have no idea how the others got out, if they we're still inside.
Apparently they have never seen me move so fast and i wad the first out.
My perception of time of this moment has NEVER felt like it did that day, so slow then so fast. MY HEART'S POUNDING BRO.
I love your videos; They are very well done.
Thanks Don! I am glad you like them. :)
I lived on Crayton Ave in 1972 to 1979 which is a stones throw to that TB hospital. It was widely known in the neighborhood not to go there. Again, supposedly haunted. We would sneak back and peak through the windows. Didn’t see much. There were surgical clothes and some medical equipment we saw. Didn’t experience any ghosts though.
This is creepy but imagine if you were to run into the Iron Lung machines that were used in the thirties.
+jamie zehner How that would be amazing to see!
they'd be rusty for sure
I appreciate the information it's really helpful it's sad that some people take the time to damage such a beautiful place
+Morgan Dillinger Agreed Morgan!
My aunt Lexie died here, she was 23 years old we have a group photo taken here, and some os aunty in her bedroom
My grandfather Andy Wieging was a patient at the TB hospital in the mid to late 1960s until he died in 1969.
i love this stuff it is so awsome i am really into creepy abandoned places and i like your riverside hospital video i live in toledo ohio
+Justin Spurgeon Same, Justin :)
+Cortnie Fogo how did you get past the motion sensors just curious on the stairs
Didn't seem to run into any :)
- cool video, Thanks for posting.
I grew up in this neighborhood and made a few trips through the TB Hospital in the late 80s (always during the day).
Been here a million times
I grew up in Lima Ohio and I remember when my grandmother worked at the TB hospital in Lima
i was wondering if you have any advice for visiting,i totally want to check this place out!!
cool tour,,, did you find the morgue?
Just went Melvin still chilling there
The smokestack was part of the coal fired power plant and was also utilized to incinerate bodies of infectious deceased patients.
+Tim England Awesome history Tim, thank you!
That’s exactly what I was thinking...especially after she said the switch said burner
I heard one of those funny birds recently and searched for hours and hours and figured out it is a grey catbird. That call it was doing is called its meow.
+SoftTopCadillac is it really? That is cool! We thought it was really strange!
I live in lima, I went here during the day once and at night a few times and it was pretty cool. I almost fell through a fuckin floor too
I am glad you didn't fall!
xThat White Guyx same we went there at night and after we left we had to go back up to the roof because my brother left his bag, on the way down we nearly got attacked by a homeless man and had to hide from the police
Awesome adventure, hearing whispers, don't know if your partner was whispering or not but someone was for sure ! Thank you for sharing .. Definitely has a CREEP factor !
+Gina Diefenbach definitely creepy!
My grandpa was treated in that hospital for TB, he did live but so many did not. My grandma worked there in her
20's she's 89 yrs old now.
Wow that so cool she actually worked there. I am so glad your grandpa survived tb, that was pretty rare back then!
@@CortnieFogo Yea my grandma turned 89 this month and my grandpa survived the TB but ended up passing away from lung cancer in 2005
Been there in the 80s late at night, early morning hours...trippy...😎👍
i visited my friend's father here when I was 16. that was in 1962
Thank you for sharing 😃
I was in Lima for 15 years.... and I never knew they had a other hospital that was abaned um I know there was St Rita's and Lima merioal wow a hospital for tb.
Yeah, it's in the Shawnee area!
Do you know if this place is still up or has it gotten destroyed? I live about an hour from where it is located and thinking about checking it out.
As far as I know it's still standing. I went with some friends back in April. It was in worse condition than in this video. My friends and I went in through a window. It's all collapsed inside, the roof is caving in. We went through about three rooms crouching in between things to get to the part that wasn't caved in. I would suggest bringing a mask because the part that isn't caved in is all boarded up and there's no air circulation. I was disappointed because we couldn't get up the stair it was all caved in. But other than that it was a great experience!!
Although farther deteriorated, the TB Hospital is still standing!
Went there with 4 buddies at 2 am. Much more collapse and heard some spooky noises!
I love to visit such places as long as I am with a group of people and have the means to defend ourselves against a nasty surprise. Would you give me a tour to there one day? ;)
+AF A I do not know about a being a tour guide - all the rooms are pretty much completely empty! Mostly just a shell left. I would be more concerned about a nasty surprise in Detroit than here. I wish this place still had something to it.
Cortnie Fogo I moved to Lima last month, and I live on Shawnee road near Spencerville. I have tried to find the hospital few times but had no luck. If you are taking a group of people there, please do let me know. I am interested in joining.
+AF A It is really easy to find if you do your research it is on the southwest side of Lima off of State Route 117
I too have been there multiple times
No Lima state house with a mentally and criminally insane is not the same as a TV hospital. Two different hospitals my husband worked at the Lima state hospital for the mentally and criminally insane back in 68 and 69 when you get out of the service.
I actually am heading back home after my second trip there right now and I can say they’ve pretty much torn most of it down as of 4-10-21. A few wings remain but they’ve completely torn down or completely barricade any and all entrances that were left. The first time I went there, there was a few ways left inside, one door led into a wing that was mostly collapsed, the other was by means of climbing in a window that led to the second floor and there was also a doorway that could be dug out. I went this time with a hand shovel but they tore down the part of the building those entrances were. There was still a way to climb up into a window on the second floor and there was a way down into what looked like a basement but you have to squeeze past part of the wall they tried to place there to block it off. I would have tried it but I was worried about getting out as it’s not real stable to try and climb and force your way through and I’m more of a bigger guy, someone slimmer could definitely get by it and go down there but it’s a steep climb on debris to get back out. My first trip was about 4 weeks from my second, and in that short time they’ve demolished more and more of it sadly. Is it worth going? Yes it definitely is, but sadly I think it’s time left standing is limited so if you read this in time and are curious about the place, you better get there soon cause it doesn’t seem like it’ll be left standing by next year. Go late at night, make sure none of the neighbors see you and stay quiet and you should be fine. Didn’t see any trace of the police both times I went.
Oh and to those wondering if it is haunted, yes it is haunted by many spirits, some malicious and some not, some roam inside the building and some roam on the outside of the property. In my two trips I’ve caught many, many pictures of spirits on the inside of the building. They will watch you as you explore around the grounds. If you manage to get inside, you can feel how heavy the energy is inside the place. And no, not all the noises are from the oil refinery nearby. Just walking up to the place tonight there was a faint but definite scream that came from inside what was left of the building.
i am glad you got to back and checknit out, even though it was largely demolished. it is so sad to see these buildings go.
As of 2023 still stands I got in through one of the ac vents
the dirt on the floor is probably to encase the tb in the 'soil' and not allow it to be kicked around by dust
Re-aerosolization of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis from dust is managed through commonly available disinfectants--even vinegar. Soil actually can harbor viable _M.T._ for as long as several months. Regardless, so much time has passed at the abandoned hospital that it's a non-issue.
The place near the beginning of the video where you went in, where is that? I've been there twice and I've been trying to find that big room and never found it
This is very surreal. Very creepy.
@18:00-18:03; After she asks a question to her camera guy, a possible paranormal EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) response was recorded...sounded like a quick yell or growl? Check it out....really cool!
That is qctually really cool, I played kt back to listen a bunch of times. Aside from a bird, I am not sure what else it could nave been aside from a paranormal noise. We did hear a lot, and I mean a lot, of birds. Walking in we saw so many and they were noisy little things we were joking one even sounded like a mockingjay from hunger games. Great catch!
Yes, it is still standing Larry Lauger
Check out rolling acres mall in Akron Ohio
Wow nice video. I would love to make a video about this hospital
My friend and I were arrested there a few years back lol. We didn't even make it into the building before there were Police chasing us. Now the building has cameras, and trip lasers all around the place. I live in the neighborhood right next to the building. Every few days you will see a few an officer or two go back and search the grounds.
Lmao really ? I went there in June 2015, wasnt any camera or trip lasers
+Vinvandle Around 50 arrests per year here :)
@@CortnieFogo over 500 trespassers caught on cams in 30 days according to local news.
@@davidbrown6991 good thing we went back then :)
when I went to college in lima, we would go at like 2 a.m. to explore and smoke on the roof. this place was nuts.. just not haunted
There's definitely some ghost guy but no spooky spooky
I went there today when it was night time pretty scary .. we asked the people at the drive way if we can park there and they didn't let us so we went threw a back yard
+Jayden Goddard I would never ask the lady that lives at the front entrance to park there - she has been known to call the police on explorers :) We parked and walked in the side way.
great video *********** Like
I see we got a couple abandoned tb hospitals here in Ohio
The bags of dirt might have been leaves originally that decomposed in to dirt?
Might have been!
I went to college there! In 1995, 1996
why isn't there a guy or two with you?
My mom knows the owner of the place. I live 2 blocks from it!
I seen a clip on The Lima News and they were warning people not to go there they will be arrested for trespassing I live in Lima born and raised my grandmother died in that place back in 1958, people have asked me about that place quite a few times and I have always heard it is definitely haunted
they said if you get caught there the fort Shawnee Police will arrest you for trespassing
A year or 2 ago some kids from my school went there right before prom and they all fell thru the 3rd floor
I have always wanted to see this place but it is illegal to actually be on this property to my current knowledge. I do believe the land is owned by the state. Also I have heard this place is now just a cop trap for kids. BTW those bags of soil could have been the remains of bodies of the people who died of tb and were shortly after cremated. Not sure how true all of this is but it makes a good story.

yeeeeeaahhhhhh lets go to the abandoned tuberculosis hospital and get some tuberculosis !!!
+ROROSMACHINE Do you know how TB is contracted? over 40 years of being closed, open air, no patients - it is person to person airborne via coughing, sneezing, etc. You cannot contract it from there.
definitely haunted. I have many Evps and pictures of orbs and a man in a window.
Me and some friends we're just there last night and got some orbs
Where did you park at and where do you even park?
Ben Taylor we parked at a random place and walked about 30mins to get there, you can't park near it
did you see any cameras or Shawnee police? I heard it's like a hive over there. I've been wanting to go for years, i just don't feel like getting fined.
+Brandon Lehman I did not see either any cops or cameras. But I believed I shared the statistic in the video that 50 arrests are made here each year. Make sure you are careful about entering. The biggest thing would be not to go through the front, it is someones yard/driveway and gated off. She was outside when we drove by. I imagine she gets tired of people tramping through her lawn and calls the cops. It is easy enough to find a different way in.
+Brandon Lehman My friend and I were arrested there a few years back lol. We didn't even make it into the building before there were Police chasing us.
