I had thought he was going to be hit by a car and the app would then show “0 meter away”.
😂😂😂😂
No matter what is going on, no matter where you think your supposed to be, when the right person looks you dead in your face and smiles you need to understand that at that time the planets align and you better get the message or you'll be searching and wandering without any notion or any destination!!
This is a nice idea, but not how things work. You have an idealized picture in your head, and some people fit into it. A small percentage of them like you, too. But the chances are slim. You can cope mit many partners that might not be ideal for you - that’s the reason arranged marriages worked over centuries. People who don’t find someone today have basically two problems. Either the don’t go out of the house or they have crazy expectations above any realistic chance. Go out and meet people - real people, with flaws, with curves and edges, and talk to them. You’ll wonder who you like. That’s at least the credo some very happy people follow. 😉
A lot of girls and women smile simply because society taught them they should.
A parable. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
or on the other platform😊😊
A bird in hand, is better than ten in the bush:)
just keep you own site clean then it aint!!!!!
Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth
"There are 2 types of people in this world, so save your pennies!"
Excellent little film... Charming poignant and wryly amusing.
Lovely film. conveys so much in so short a time. There's a moral there. Congratulations to everyone involved.
Algorithms already control too much of our lives.
Life is an algorithm.
Yes, so what do you wait for before STARTING to live… naturally, simply, in harmony with nature and everything life offers us… but only ALWAYS :-)
@@sonovivo1247 An algorithm you create. Broad definition of algorithm: system that leads to an end. We perform algorithms simply by living each day, how you dress, routes you take to destination, what you eat,...
Yes that's why you're watching this!
The saddest thing about this, is it could almost be totally real. I think we have got to the point where dating apps treat people's need for intimacy as a game. A need to be toyed with. Its very cynical, because it started once dating apps had cornered the love market, and left people with no option but to be caught in an endless loop.
Today, we're so connected digitally, yet in many other ways, disconnected and alone.
Sad living vicariously through his phone, still a enjoyable short.
Thank you : ) .
100% great short film
I proposed to my wife the first night I met her. We are still together 47 years later. You learn to love once you make a commitment. I pity my students who are constantly staring blankly at their smart phones...
Love this
He's like the Spanish Mr Bean 😂
Kinda sweet. I hope he eventually finds her.
Oh he will, but he will also discover that she is not her.
@@markallen2984 How intriguing!!
Of course since the beginning of time all men find that the she he is looking for is not the "her" he expected or even wanted.
I suspect I saw something before that may have gone in the direction of your hint.
Good Luck.
Or i Will, i,m close to that City.😊
@@ericvanooijen7905 I'm rooting for you!!. Be gentle with her. Good luck!!😊
These No dialogue stories are pretty cool!!
Thank you DUST for sharing always 🎉
A great reason to ditch your Cell phone. Seems gone are the days when we fell in love on our own.
Given the rates of divorce and infidelity, were those good old days really that good?
looking for love and romance in this times SUCKS,i regret sometimes im living on this planet
This was beautiful. Thank you 😊
So true😂😂 One of the best shorts viewed the recent months on dust🎉 And excellent play. One of my favourite scenes is the guy at 2:15, this face play... incredible 😂
Good fun. Nice short
nice realistic science fiction short, we are a society stoned by digital technologies
it's digital crack, been calling it that for 30 years, nobody understands this yet.
he found someone he liked and who liked him and he walked away because the game didnt agree. he didnt even try. he will never find anyone.
I would have called out, "Who here loves Dean Martin's music?"
Wonderful short! The character was perfectly set in such a few time. A lot of messages given without a word. Wondering what the director could show us in a long film.
*Вывод* : Чувствовать полезнее Своё, чем бегать за дырками бота!!😜
Любви/ЗдравиЯ 🎵
No wonder he's alone.
Well done. Love how you showed the absurdity of that.
The plot is stolen from a story by Liliana Rozanova, a Russian sci-fi writer of the 1960s. One of the main characters of her novel The Teller of the Past gets a chance to see some of the big opportunities that he had unknowingly missed in his life - and learns that many years ago, he stood very close to the love of his life on a subway train - but did not even notice her.
Having learned that, the guy spends his evenings looking at girls' faces at the subway station where he once missed his chance.
good job DUST ! it kept me waiting to see who the match was...
This is so cute, funny and sad
This happens to women too. When I was young, I had sat in front of her for years. I was just considered the best buddy and she never noticed. She also went around me to get to other men. When I turned to someone else worth it, she suddenly noticed, but then it was too late. In the long run, in hindsight it was really smarter and therefore not bad. I went upstairs and she had one indebted, wasted man after another. That's probably why I was outside of her search grid. I was just the normal guy with no debt, who no longer lived at home, had a new car, had a job that paid too well, had no children and didn't have a corpse in the basement :D She would have been my femme fatale. Yes, you can really read it between the lines, I'm still annoyed about it to this day. But luckily I didn't go her way. Maybe karma was watching me.
But for some women, these guys like me are just too boring.
This just screams "incel" who blames the woman for anything that goes wrong...
I can get you a corpse if you think it'll help 🤔
I hate to break it to you, but you are an incel my guy.
Genial!...
Exposes the world has gone APP sh!t crazy.
If we get obsessed with "connections" being showed to us by an algorithm, we risk missing actual potential connections.
My match better hurry before i relocate
Very cute.
Pretty good short. I can dig the no dialogue approach. The message embodies not only that technology controls too much of our daily lives, it also creates a drive inside of us to get the best possible outcome in any situation essentially creating a race to the finish game out of life. Does having "more" make you happier that letting things happen naturally? That's for the viewer to decide lol.
Nooooooo, I need more. 💖
it's about the long-gone and forgotten skill of ''Direct approach'' that the modern humanoids have lost... they'll always need an ''intermediate'' [kinda like a translator... we're so alienated...] like a muching platform or the glass panel, in this case... his disappointment at the end was original... just like his excitement right after that... a result of hope.. and desperation...
The first thing I do to any mobile I buy is disabling Bluetooth, wifi, and incoming data... I WILL NEVER EVOLVE INTO ''THAT''!...
I ain't lost it! Just yesterday I met someone amazing who I'm going to see fireworks with tonight (July 4) all bc we were crossing paths and I asked her about her work clothes... I was on my bike so I peddled on next to her and told her said kind kind things... She giggled - I gave her my phone - she added herself from Instagram and the story goes on....
Just buy a Nokia 3310 then
So that's why we couldnt reach you about your inheritance. Sadly the estate has been settled.
That was cute.
It’s a great film well worth watching
Aw, that was cute
wow..... Bravo
I believe someone already made a reference to it, but this easily could have been an episode of Mr. Bean. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad.
Love in a hi-tech society seems much more complicated than when l was a young man , enjoyed this , just wish it was longer 👍
Well done.
Interesting plot, great photography and composition. Nicely done!
That was fun. I use Tinder, but all the girls which appears very close to me are far away and most of them are men. hahahaha
Very nice...
He had a chance with the woman on the train he was sitting across from but yet he went for Internet, which i think it was truly a guy just playing games with him.
robot voices invading you tube...robots invading our lives in general...do you smell smoke...?...is that fire...?...rome...?...
WOW the phone has so much control.
well i wanted him to find her......................😥😥😥😥
What a way to sought out a partner, be running, and running and running LOL
Should have stayed but Life goes on till the chase goes on
Silly bugger. Regardless what the app was telling him she was right in front of him. Trust your gut!
❤ won in the end😅
Far from Scifi, but a very emotional, well played comedy. Shows very well our dependency from social media. I love it.
Do you consider Issac Asimov to be a reliable authority on science fiction? From Wikipedia, "According to Isaac Asimov, 'Science fiction can be defined as that branch of literature which deals with the reaction of human beings to changes in science and technology.' " (citing "How Easy to See the Future!", by Asimov, in the April 1975 edition of Natural History). I for one think that's a fine definition, and I think this short film fits that quite nicely.
I no longer fall for these dating app
all these wonderful women everywhere........
Отличный фильм!
GPS based positioning is accurate within 2m outdoors or 5m indoors. In underground, it's either wildly inaccurate or doesn't work at all. Otherwise quite an enjoyable short :)
Cannot see what was in front of him.
Just go for it with the girl right in front of you and to hell with the app.
👍👍
I thought is was going to be the transit cop who busts him for jumping the gate.
But yeah, he was stupid for leaving the one sitting accross from him.
Super vague location app no gps. Un-installed 😂
I swear I've seen this one before. Probably one of these Love Death Robots-ish series??
Great film, I wouldn't call it sci fi though.
Nice.
It was Digitally VIDEOED, not filmed. It's a SHORT not a "short film." :-) Film, filming, and filmmaking are the most misused words in the industry. 🙂 Digital Video and film require different skill sets. Having DIFFERENT historical and TECHNOLOGICAL timelines spanning 150 years. Have pride and knowledge of the gear we use including the words that describe what we do. Our tools are Digital Video, Non-linear, and CGI. We are moviemakers, not filmmakers. We do what film wished it could. We are Videographers and/or cinematographers. 🙂 We video or are videoing, we do not film. That's the other RARE professionals who know how to use film and film cameras, like an ARRIFLEX 435 Panavision R-200 and Steenbeck flatbed film editors. Know the difference and have a better understanding of the craft. You will also stand out in an industry polluted with point-and-shoot "pros". Respect to you.✌♥
kinda sad story 😞
So... the app makes it a game by withholding the persons name and home address.
I would be pretty creeped out by any app that gave a random stranger my address & name. That's equivalent to doxxing--it's rude & can be dangerous.
@@DrachenGothik666 Agree but remember, that app is for the purpose of meeting that person, and they are not random but carefully chosen.

Barbarella Update
Synopsis
A remake that both parodies and pays homage to the original movie. Barbarella, an astronaut from the 41st century, sets out to find and stop the evil scientist Durand Durand, whose Positronic Ray threatens to bring evil back into the galaxy.
His name was Duran Duran (no extra "d"). Fun fact: it's where the band Duran Duran got their name.
This will be a typical gen Z, then it will go home to it's inflate a date. Mrs, Polly Urethane.
I mean I get the message and all that but surely the app could show the direction i which the girl is .... Its already using gps anyway

Algorithms are not to be taken seriously. 🙄😁
I guess the moral of the story (and a very good reflection of Life today): it is far too easy to miss what is right in front of you when you spend your entire life staring at a screen?
Yeah He messed up
Funny disparative and dispondive, modern technology, sometimes U just need to go to that bar/,club or whatever, and hope for the best 👍👍👍👍
❤😂❤😂
What was "Sci FI" about this?
hmm that could have been her.
Why didn't he stay with the redhead?
If this is really a question, my suggestion, you should watch it again, that's the plot.
tup, damn game of finding the next one. We need to develop together, and not look for an ideal. pointless
Ba😂
Good! But not sci-fi.
Do you consider Issac Asimov to be a reliable authority on science fiction? @@landru27 maybe, but there's no real change depicted
@@zimbot_KWB The change does not need to occur *within* the story. The advent of smartphones and how they have become ubiquitous is a big, big change. How have human beings reacted to this widespread and far reaching technological change? One way is that we might easily pay more attention to a blinking %-match number on a screen than to a real smile from a real person who is really right in front of us. This film is science fiction, through and through.
cool
