This mode kind of made me feel like I was in the Walking Dead, where I would have to go on supply runs and plan how to attack raider bases, it’s truly a game changer.
Watching the walking dead made me want to play again lol
end the game with 130 stimpacks? What, i run around with over 500 and still hesitate to use tem
IchbinX i sell all the expensive loot i find. I have 57k and no idea what to do with it, i dont want to buy anything
IchbinX but i already have all i want, so there is no point. Maybe the big boy, but i never use the fatman
I had ~350 after the main game ended.
+Peter Due ahaha same with me, i horde all of my expensive items to sell them but then i forget about them lol
Swagbob Dankpants right. i have a toolbox full of expensive shit that i still need to sell. Theres atleast around 50k in that aswell, but every trader can only give me 800 at a time, so its almost impossible to get all the money
Everyone before the beta: WE WANT A REAL SURVIVAL MODE
After the beta: ummmm fallout 4 isn't supposed to be difficult...
+TheJuanAndOnly I like survival mode. The hardest difficulty before was just way too easy.
+TheJuanAndOnly NV fans... obsidian Fans... they're afraid.... because the didn't expect bethesda to listen to their fans.. & F4 is becoming better and better
+Jay Zie gameplay wise it's far better than new Vegas but locations, characters and main story still sucked in FO4 tho lol
+SeboTrzyDe3D If you go three hours without saving in a BETHESDA game and complain that the game crashes and you lose progress is like complaining that your car was stolen when you parked it in a shady neighborhood with the doors unlocked and keys in the ignition. Sure, I agree it isn't a flawless system, but at least it discourages hasty and dumb decisions that can just be reloaded or going back to one of our millions of back up saves where we didn't get HIV from drinking river water. The annoyance of sleeping to save really makes you become more careful while playing.
+Eddie Velasquez they should add a couple more beds around the commonwealth and allow you to save every 10 minutes or so, bam problem (probably) solved!
After two full playthroughs of fallout 4, I started survival mode a few days ago. It’s incredibly awesome. It has a constant danger and excitement that you would only otherwise get in the first hour or so of regular fallout 4 after leaving the vault. I can’t believe how many NEW nooks, crannies, paths, and locations I’m finding as I tackle a quest while also searching for beds and bottles! Also the dialogue of raiders, gunners, and mutants as I’m trying to sneak up on them has way more meaning now.
This is a few years later but at one point I picked up back packs which are great for survival mode and that combined with pocketing every piece of armor leaves me with difficult decisions in survival mode.
Do I run around with a backpack and pockets. Light, Fast, Huge carrying capacity, able to quickly move between locations. but incredibly fragile.
or do I don a suit of power armor and have to rely on chems and alcohol to pick up anything more than a few fans
And when the game crashes you're screwed..
SteelTSSteel except crashes rarely happen unless you have 100000000000000000 mods lol.
yeah mine jsut crashed 15 min ago, but at least just 10min of my life wasted
Yeah hadn't saved for over an hour before my game crashed to desktop while trying to exit a building... yay survival mode
I love survival mode just cba with the saving... just forgot about and was playing for a few hours... took my power armour off and was killed by a dog... time wasted
@@ollycartwright1638 You can mod survival mode easily enough to allow saving. I allow myself to save when I want, but no fast travel. I've got 140 mods installed lol, I don't trust it not to crash that much. I've got a bunch of mods to make things more interesting in survival mode. True storms for crazy rad storms and ghoul hordes, Darker Nights, added loads of plants and foliage through a few mods to make it harder to spot enemies and make the world look more real. Add in realistic bullet drop, true frags for grenade fragmentation I also changed the player damage to match the 400% damage boost enemies get rather and 75% of normal mode damage you normally do. i don't want human enemies being massive bullet sponges in survival mode. I want to feel more or less on an even footing with the raiders, i want situations where I don't dare take them on.
Survival mode is one of the few things that Bethesda managed to do significantly better than NV's hardcore mode
Things respawn but it takes minimum 3 days. I just work on settlements or figure things out in other towns. I just really like exploring
And that's a good thing. It's a way to secure routes. It takes 80 days a cleared area to respawn.
@@ScaroBloodblade 600 hours? Source? The game + DLC is like 150 hours max.
@@ScaroBloodblade Todd Howard is a game director not the CEO of Zenimax - he has nothing to do with it. Obsidian agreed and if you followed J. Sawyer you'd know there's no bad blood between the companies. And 600 hours is just BS whichever way you spin it. NV ultimate Edition isn't even 600 hours of content so there definitely wasn't 600 hours cut.
@@AlchemistOfNirnroot 600 hours is ok.
Using mods the game become very long the true.
Creating a very goo setlement with all decorations and a good structure and with mods took me 1 day or 2 , and are like 37 setlement in all the game and if we include setlement by mods it can be one of the longest games .
I don't mind the saving only when sleeping. I grew up with JRPGs so savepoints are something I'm totally used to. I think the sickness/hunger/thirst is a great mechanic because now the game feels more like a post-apocalypse.
I'm gonna grow hungry? Get thirsty? I might die if I don't eat but this food will make me sick? Well no shit this is an irradiated wasteland and I have to deal with it. Survival is great.
Before Survival mode: WE NEED SURVIVAL NAO, BETHESDA DOESN'T GIVE SHIT ABOUT THEIR FANS!!!!!!
After Survival mode:
1. It too late Bethesda, we no longer want that.
2. Make it easier so I can play on highest difficulty because I don't like drinking, eating, sleeping and making antibiotics. Its too hard to play and I refuse to play on lower difficulty
maybe they could've added true survival mode on top of the pre-existing survival mode for those that like a challenge but not hardcore.
+ollifsful Very hard is there for those that want a challenge but not a hardcore challenge
+santiago jara I guess, I don't know why there's complainers. Most casuals play normal anyway. I personally can't wait to pick up Fo4 again to build robots and struggle with the new survival mode. I think I'll find myself running away from a losing fight more often.
+Mr. Clem
that's not true. I actually have to admit, this looks harder than NV's "Hardcore" mode.
No thanks, I have more important things to do, like find fashionable sunglasses for all my settlers. No time to worry about staying hydrated or avoiding disease.
+ParallelUniversity why not keep their disease-ridden corpses looking fashionable while you drag them out of the way of your new robot arena?
Hugh B.B Lol
Idek why but I always try to get gunner guard outfits and replace my settlers clothes with them🤣😭
I do recommend survival mode but not without a mod that saves when you enter/exit buildings and where you can quicksave (I use no sleep until bedtime) because I don't care what anyone tells you, losing 2 hours in any game is not fun. Most people don't have time for it, and those that do still don't get anything out of only being able to save at beds.
@@thatonetyeguy2330 What if you have console
I'd highly recommend the autosave mod with survival mode. Death is swift, game still has the occasional crash, sleep is still needed daily. It just saves time. It doesn't break "the spirit" of survival mode. Though you probably shouldn't save every 10 seconds either. You could save yourself into a corner.
Smokeable Cigarettes is the most immersive save option for Survival mode. Just have a cigarette and it saves the game.
Survival is fantastic if you are not pressed for time to play.
Since the corona I got time
Phillip Quintela same I have a mod to rebalance the damage though , everyone is wayyyy too bullet spongey , now it feels real
@@devinAWOL I play on Xbox so my mod choices are limited. But I added on a weapon overhaul that made weapons more varied as well as added a whole slew of ammo variations. On top of that, I added a realistic headshot mod that makes headshots on most of your standard enemies instant kills. Even an individual in Power Armor. If their head isn't protected, you can still drop them with one shot. But on the flipside, the same can happen to you. It honestly makes the game into a horror game at times. I just cleared out the raiders in the corvega assembly plant and I was on edge the entire time worried that in the close quarters, an enemy would rush around the corner with a shotgun or something and just destroy me.
That's why I mod the game with survival options just for an auto save item. With work weighing on my life I only get an hour a night to play now. One life runs are fun though, especially after making the game harder.
This guy is really cool and something fresh to Gamespot!!
he's been working there for ages
lol idiot
+Project Beast dont be rude. he's new here
What do you think of my Fallout videos?
Don't start off with 1 endurance... fk molotovs
Codsworth - 6 endurance wont help - power armor will though -
The mini heart attacks in survival mode is the best feeling.
sounds like Survival Mode makes it a bit like Dark Souls .. the frustration of death, the adrenalin of constant danger and the energizing relief at the end
h2o delirious is playng this on survival
No, thats just what its like to have sex with a T-Rex
I was thinking the same thing.
...
Dark Souls doesn't crash though, and the combat is way more fair and clean than Bethesdas clunky system
Survival mode is actually pretty fun
I tried survival a couple days ago and spiced it up with "permadeath" challenge to myself, just to see how far I could get...turns out the answer is : in the woods east of Red Rocket ( I died from the raider's guard dog running at me)
Real
>Survival Mode Is How Fallout 4 Should Be Played
>Ranger Mode Is How Metro: Last Light Should Be Played
I'm playing ranger hardcore mode in preparation for fallout 4 survival on consol
This mode looks amazing for anyone who wants a real challenge. I can't believe so many people are complaining about it. Nobody's forcing you to play it. Just stick to "normal", "hard" or "very hard" if you don't like it. Simple.
+David Marshall Meanwhile I the greatest noob gets killed at ''very easy'' while defending the castle XD If I was better (Or you know, actually can aim XD) then I would definitly try this mode :)
Nebuladark lol. The important thing is that you're having fun. Nobody's judging.
David Marshall:D
+Nebuladark you could make a vats based character no aims required
Zadss One I'm making a vats based unarmed build, horray no shooting :)
This video Needed to be made.
ahhhh what ?
One thing I'd like to see is the ability to customise what you have switched on in survival mode, I'd like most of it but without the needing to save in beds because then if you've not got a lot of time you could still hop on play for a bit save and do whatever needs doing. I really like the idea of managing water, food, sleep and inventory weight more, but not a fan of the lack of being able to save.
i know what you mean i have 450 stimpaks and 96 fusion cores
And like 900 purified water lol. I'm not even sure what death is anymore.
+Dareghost same here
+Dareghost 900 purified water? so you have 1800 carry weight? seems legit
Fallout 4’s survival mode made easy enemies become even scarier than before.
I had a complete I Am Legend moment with ghouls.
Dog Meat & I scavenged a parking garage for some junk supplies, basic base oriented mission. The whole garage was completely dark except for a few fires lighting some of the corners on the perimeter.
Then there was one ghoul. Just one wandering in an empty parking garage.
Sneaking in closer to get a better shot, I fired at it with my trusty combat rifle.
The shot missed!
Soon ahead of me were 10-15 ghouls emerging & stampeding towards my location. Even ghouls had shown up to flank my rear-from outta no where! Shot after shot, the ghouls did not heed.
Dog Meat took care of the cluster behind me.
I threw two frag grenades at the pack in front of me as I ran for the exit. Peeking my head, the grenade detonated but it was far too late. Ghouls and more ghouls kept emerging, swerving the grenades I had thrown, mercilessly sprinting at our proximity.
So I delivered a melee strike to one, shot its leg off. Aimed at two more and blasted their heads off. Still they swarmed.
So we ran, and continued to run, quickening past the walled corner. The exit was in sight. I looked beside me.
“Dog Meat we made it!”
But I had spoken to empty space. My companion was not by my side as I had believed.
Glancing back, I only hear a weakened whimper & menacing growls of the ghoul’s foul screeches.
I immediately returned to Dog Meat’s aid. Crippling any ghouls I could manage. Once I reached Dog Meat, he received a stimpack treatment, and I hurried to help him up.
Unfortunately, time was not our ally.
It was too late. We had become surrounded. Taking 4 strikes from the ghouls’ ambush... I died. My vision slowly fading, and only Dog Meat fending what was left of my withering corpse.
Gotta love creating your own story with moments such as that.
It’s moments like that make survival mode amazing. It’s much more immersive to me than the other difficulty’s.
The best character I made was a guy named Jimmy on very hard difficulty who is level 109 and I've put in a proud 9 days into that character....connected all my settlements, decked out most of my settlements, and pretty much beat the whole game aside from a handful of main quests
That being said, i started a new one b/c i love FO4, plus i wanted to try survival mode because it seemed interesting
I am currently on level 44 and I've logged in about a day and a half into this new character and I've BARELY scratched the surface of what I need to go through.... all the while making playing and fighting and actual intense experience
Survival mode reinvigorates this game...I loved FO4 before survival, but this mode is how the game should be played
Tough and unforgiving, yet extremely satisfying
Things I've never thought twice about, become vital variables to your survival (like chems, legendary items, etc))
You got damn right, survival mode only.
I like most of the stuff in the new survival mod except the saving restrictions, it feels like the game would waste my time and I don't like that, especially in a game that could crash at any moment
+Alex Huszár then don't play the new survival and stick with the other bullet sponge modes?
There's a mod that allows you to save.
Never mind, 7 years ago you posted. Whoops.
@@LewisLawlor😂 I hope dude is still alive.

every open world game should have a survival mode
+Dante Alighieri yes it should be optional and only enable-able in the main menu as its own setting that way people who like can enjoy it and people like you who most likely hate it dont have to experience it
ok that makes sense not all most the ones like fallout 4 skyrim oblivion etc.
i explained this in my last comment i wasnt firing on all cylinders when i typed it and forgot about gta SR ac etc i was thinking of skyrim and pretty much every other bethesda open world rpg
Well S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game series have one, I believe.
this is why I had a blast with my local leader run in survival, with some mods. When I had intentions to head to a new settlement to build it up, i'd bring enough supplies to build a robot workbench and an automaton, use the automaton to supply chain into the settlement nexus, build up the settlement, and it's ready to act as a base of operations.
Then with Equipment Crafting Overhaul and Weapon Overhaul Redux, it allowed for some more dynamic handling of weapons and gear. Like WOR allows a lot more modification options. Sacrifice some damage per shot by making the gun light frame without giving up the stronger receiver. Make a hunting rifle take .38 rounds to carry more ammo. Find a bunch of shotgun ammo but can't carry it all? Scrap it, makes the ammo unusable as ammo, but cuts it's weight by 95% (twenty shells can become one scrap, worth lead, copper, fertilizer, and plastic, at 0.1 for it's weight). Rebuild it at base, though only retrieving half the number, or use it for building other ammo.
Sacrifice 10 of your carry weight capability to keep a universal crafting workbench on you that you can drop and use anytime. lets you craft junk shipments too, for a fee (making a 100 unit shipment takes 120 units of the material, a 250 shipment takes 300, etc). Will say, you absolutely need scrapper to be capable of doing this.
Only thing that is annoying is the save feature. Too many bugs and glitches for no quicksave feature. If they add a sleeping bag that you can take with you, maybe just to use for 1 hour so you can save, it'd be perfect.
• Red Smurf • I still want a portable save of some sort. Even if it give some negative status effect.
+John Shepard or just wait for come out beta test mode and install portable sleeping bag mod.
its fun addition because mod author made it have weight and you have to recraft them
Guardsmen4 Shouldn't need a mod for it. They just need to add it to the Vanilla game. It still fits the theme as well, so I think it's fair to expect it.
no i think it should be a mod beth wants you too explore their game(you know thing most people didn't do just beat main quest in 20 hours and called it a day) and find the over 1000 beds already in the game not farm gunners plaza over and over and claim game is too small .reason i brough it up was some people hardware have issues with fallout 4 might need to save more game works flawless for me so portable thing is not needed
I'm gonna rebuy Fallout 4 just to play this mode! I had no idea this was made & it's awesome! I've always had this strange disconnect with Fallout. The game has a post-apocalyptic aesthetic, but no gameplay shared that same vision. This will hopefully make the experience more immersive.
I started survival mode last week. Right now I just arrived at diamond city. For weapons I focus on one pistol (either 10mm or .44 mm) and a medium laser rifle. Also I'm trying to get max affinity with whatever companions I got
I’m about level 124, and he’s right! Survival mode is really something, but the feeling of accomplishment is so much more present! Even after finishing the main game and the three DLC (nukaworld was the only one where i’ve NEEDED a power armor) and even after that i still enjoy playing and upgrading my settlements
At 00:21 it sounds like he's rapping
I love survival mode, i can't even consider playing without it.
I really like how this mode turns many of the games mechanics from one-use gimmicks to being absolutely vital. For example, I think I only ever used verti-birds once during my first play though, and that was for a scripted sequence. But in survival-mode, verti-birds are essentially the new form of fast-travel. Same thing goes with drinking water, finding foods and even a lot of the base-building mechanics.
oh boy the "Hardcore mode" from new vegas is back
time to stock up waters again
Hardcore mode was easy compared to this, I should know, I newer played NV on anything else then hardcore
Yeah, I miss that NV feel when food was actually useful and stimpaks you stacked for the special "oh shit!" moments.
+Jeanne D'arc LOL! Hardcore in new vegas was so easy in comparison... multitudes easier.
+MrDjBigZ Almost? Its a LOT harder and overall better
no thank you i want to live

+Amazing just finishing exams and don't want another death sentence waiting for me
+Abdelrahman keshk As much as it pains me to say this, Real Life DOES have to come first.
Abdelrahman Keshk lol tryna get ur demographic for 3rd graders with that comment bro
i would probably get pissed after getting killed mid route
Wow, what a funny, interesting and overally really well made video! Please more content just like this one gamespot! It was awesome
I come back to this video a lot, it’s such a fun lil video that really reminds me how much I love fallout 4.
I love survival mode! I was so disappointing that there wasn't a "hardcore" mode in the release like there was in New Vegas. But now it's in Fallout 4, and I honestly think it's like a million times better tbh
You forgot to mention that Radaway also hurts your immunity system
+Tenchigo Yeah it make you tired and thirsty.
When i take some i get a drink and go to sleep for a bit.
Like i would probably do in real life.
If you ain't playing Survival you ain't playing Fallout. Fact
no
No it's a damn fact.
survival mode is boring unless you have mods
i mean survival mode was made very well but i just dont have time for that
it's weird, i played it without survival just fine... hmm... i played it with too. they're just different games played for different reasons, one's not better than the other. i like survival for the challenge, but hard is just for running around killing people with a pool cue.
I've been playing fallout 4 on survivalist so survival mode to me is pretty cool. Honestly I think it kinda adds more rp to the feeling of the waste land. It'll be pretty immersive. Maybe.
Now this my friend, is how the game SHOULD be played. More realistic and more detailed. Looking forward to getting this patched into the game.
Maybe I'll actually buy it now

Dont forget the settlement that needs your help
Can't wait! Can't wait! Starting a new game with this and I'm stoked. I just hope they allow for saving in seperate slots. I can imagine all sorts of issues if I can't make the occasional hard save.
where did you get the pieces of that outfit? Or is it a mod?the arm armor looks pretty cool.
He has heavy combat armour arms. It's a variant of combat armour you find in the late game levels.
I got to level 22 on very hard basically just running around killing npcs. Got bored and downloaded a mod that opens a cheat menu. had fun for 10 minutes and the soul was completely sucked out of the game for me. I found myself just roaming around clicking the trigger and everything just exploded . So I deleted those saves and started a new fresh game without mods downloaded. I opted for survival and I love it. I just wish they tweaked the food/water intake a little bit. Or atleast add a hunger/thirst meter. maybe a perk to improve your immune system by 15? lol. I will say however that if anybody in RL ate as much food as you have to in survival you would literally collapse and shit yourself for 48 hours.
Patrick Murphy yes this, this mode forces you to eat so much and I’m so getting annoyed when I swallow one pill In getting thirsty.... btw there are some perks that can get you immune to drinking irradiated water and eating irradiated food, you won’t get any radiation. But then it takes away that survival feeling from survival mode.
I still don't have fallout 4. But I plan on doing my first play through on this survival difficulty.... This might be a terrible decision lol.
I get a 90's vibe of this video. The music and the way the reviewer talks.
Playing Fallout 4 on Survival Mode well teach you that the best build to run is a Sniper build. A good long ranged rifle with a decent scope will become your best friend. Along with stealth and rifle/sniper based perks, you will be dropping potential threats and targets before they even have the chance to know you are there (at least for human based targets anyway). The game mode does definitely make you think though. In a normal run, I wouldn't think twice about investigating some distant gunfire. I would just charge in, kill everything, and take all the loot as a reward. Now, hearing distant gunfire makes you think. Is the risk and cost of what resources you have going to be worth the loot you may get from the fight? A lot of times, I find myself trying to just completely avoid fights all together. This also means having a high speech skill comes in handy for being able to talk your way out of most confrontations and avoiding conflict as much as you can.
No longer does the "become a walking armory and murder everything before taking everything that isn't nailed down" play style become viable and now you actually have to think and plan out some of the more basic tasks. Even to how you get around the map. With no fast travel anymore, you have to plan specific travel routes in order to avoid the more enemy heavy locations in order to get to your destinations safely. And despite all that, I absolutely love it. Once I started playing Fallout 4 on Survival, I can't see myself playing it any other way.
Oh, side note: being on such a hard difficulty, it means you have a higher percentage of running into Legendary enemies....meaning more chances of getting Legendary loot. Playing Fallout 4 on Survival is one of the best ways for finding some awesome weapon/armor combinations with Legendary perks on them that you normally couldn't make yourself. Early on in my first run, I found a 10mm suppressed auto-pistol that had the infinity perk on it meaning I never had to reload it. Granted, it absolutely ate through your 10mm ammo if you were not careful, but you never had to worry about reloading the weapon as long as you had the ammo to spare. I think I ended up dubbing the weapon as the "Mr. Sandman" because it was brutal at stealthily taking out human targets undetected at a close range.
let's hope Bethesda overhauls the dialogue system as well..
sounds like everything I was hoping for.
I'm happy I decided continue in survival difficulty mode my first time playing. I switched to it early on in the game. I've read other people writing they wish they could play it like that their first time.
Once I got to Cambridge Police Station then Diamond City I never went back to Sanctuary. Very cool moment when looking down from Vertiberd landing back in Sanctuary.
I agree with you hundred percent. I first played on normal to get used to the game then switched to hard then very hard shortly afterwards. Then the game got extremely easy on very hard when you hit like level 40 or maybe even level 30 so survival mode is where it's at. Yeah it's more than hard at first but that's all apart of the challenge. To me it made the game funner.
Finally, Fallout 4 released !
I fully agree
This video is very well put together, I thank you for the experience!
Actually rad away doesn't dehydrate like he said. It makes you hungry
Now everyone will start sniper builds
Gonna play this game for the first time tommorow. Should I just go all out and play survival mode?
I say this because I'll probably only play through the game once, so...
If I was you I would play a couple hours on regular difficulty just to get familiar with the bacic mechanics, then once I'm comfortable and understand everything I'll ramp it up and turn Survival Mode on
+PeeJay Torres *basic mechanics
+Zaugr Go right into survival mode... after that you wouldn't want to go back to regular modes
+Zaugr dont listen to them, on regular diff, tha game throws too much easy stuff at you right in the first hour, making the whole game a cakewalk and... boring

+Zaugr dont listen to them, on regular diff, tha game throws too much easy stuff at you right in the first hour, making the whole game a cakewalk and... boring

The problem with Fallout 4 is that there are two game designs overlapping. Things that make sense in survival mode crash into normal mode and visa versa.
Survival mode in New Vegas helped me manage my inventory so I wasn't a massive hoarder. It helped me organize really well surprisingly!
tbh, i dropped this game like 3 days into it. but this might revive me interest.
+Josh Cicconeokodo Why?! I've played 220 hours, and I still want more.
+SamFisherCell I've played 600 hours and I keep playing
same. idk what it was but Fallout 4 just didn't do it for me. I can still play the shit out of Fallout 3 though
Kinda the same, doesn't have the same depth as some of the previous Fallouts
+Whatguy11 i still play skyrim(heavily modded ofcourse)but i quit falout 4 after reaching diamond city
Just imagine this mode with all the surival/immersion mods like frostfall when GECK comes out....
+RuthlessRampage and loverslab mods lol ;)
+jazy921 lol
I like everything about survival mode with only one exception, saving your game when you sleep. I know that this is to keep you on your toes but I hate losing a hour or even hours of progress due to getting killed, especially during the beginning.
There's beds usually everywhere it's not that bad just take a nap
I'm glad that the "Survival Mode" we are beta-testing is here to stay and regular difficulty levels are getting "Wellness/Needs" added as a game option at beginning of a new game.
Everyone who wants Fast Travel & Save Anytime in addition to added challenge of Wellness+Needs will get it and the 'hardcore survival freaks' will have the 'insane' challenge of the new and improved Survival Mode as-is but with bugs patched. Another happy ending for all!
The only thing I feel could improve this new Survival Mode is adding a realistic darkness to nights
anyone who cant play on survival from level 1 is no true fallout player
Really? So you're saying that if you don't jump straight to the hardest difficulty, and endure the compulsory boredom of sleeping, eating and drinking you're not a TRUE fallout player? k
This game mode will put me on a suicide prevention list.
My main problem with it is this: you spend 35+ minutes walking around, almost got to your destination and then a car glitches out and destroys you! Never mind the fact that you just cleaned an almost impossible bunker. That's hard, I'll admit, but those damn bugs will get you every single time
***** I play on the latest version.
I wonder if stimpacks stacks beyond 1000 because i have like 990 of them and I always played on survival difficulty. I'm so hyped for this new mode
realistic fallout
THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNKKKKK FUUUCCCCK
forgot to mention getting infections illnesses parasites and lethargy. and the panic that sets in when you realize your infection is killing you and you're 20 miles from the closest doctor with antibiotics.
I opted for the beta version a few days ago, but can't run any mods with it, So I reverted back to standard and will wait till its full release. Seriously can't wait to play it.
Play Stalker Misery, that's survival :v
+Galis And glitchy as fuck :(, got all the way to the end almost and some stupid shit happened and I couldn't find some dead soldiers radio or wahatever..
NATIVEx CHARM That's right it is glitchy :\
This is absolutely amazing..
This is one of the only times I have ever left a comment on YT. Great overview of this mode. I can't wait to start a new game now that settlements have purpose again!!
The terror of what might be behind the next corner is what makes survival mode so stimulating! Especially when I'm also doing a one life run!
The saving system is so garbage considering how often the fucking game crashes.
+Toxic Queef CTD was a problem in the first version of the game, but now It doesn't crash, I have 234 installed mods and the game never crashes
+santiago jara Same. Game has only crashed on me ONCE and I've had it since launch.
+Toxic Queef i only get game crashes because of microsoft being shitastic with win10(xbox1 controller drivers crash win 10 when unplugged) even then 4 times in 160 hours of play 60+ installed mods
+Toxic Queef not a single crash for 110 hours of gameplay. Don't know why people even have this problem
+ThornInTheEye Good for you, still doesn't negate from the problems that many others are having with the game.
PC GAMING/FALLOUT STORY
Recently, I finally got myself an Asus gaming laptop that carries a capable graphics card. I got it for a great price from a friend and I was excited. But I found I wasn't much of a PC gamer. Although I'm alright with a keyboard, I'm nothing close to as good as I am with a controller. Also, there weren't many games I REALLY wanted to play that me or the majority of my friends didn't have over on my Xbox One. So I've been focusing on Gears 4 and Mafia 3. But one day, a guy I work with told me about the new survival mode on Fallout 4 (btw, I'm a huge fallout and skyrim fan). It sounded cool, but then he went into detail about how his mods make it even more immersive and then I got really excited. My biggest decision was either to go back to it on console (where I have 2 DLCs) or buy it on G2A for my gaming laptop and just buy the season pass when I level up. I was worried that mods wouldn't be as great as mods on PC and there also wouldn't be any graphic mods. So I said screw it, I'll buy it on my PC, get a USB cable to connect to my controller and I'd play it that way.
And I did. It has taken me a couple of days to figure out how to install and use mods, but needless to say, as un-tech savvy as I am, I was able to figure it out. I use all the vivid texture mods, the campsite mod, the backpack mod, the dogmeat companion mod, the show holstered weapons mod (when it actually works, thinking about trying a different one), better blood mod, and probably some others too. But let me tell ya, I'm loving it so far. The survival mode was exactly what I was looking for in a game and they finally did right. My mods make it not only more immersive but beautiful too. The damn water looks phenomenal, and it's all in one of my favorite game series ever. I was getting tired of the repetitiveness and honestly never even finished the storyline. But now it's revived and now I am really excited for such a game with seemingly endless playability. Not only has it made me want to play it more and more, but now I'm probably gonna buy BF1 on my laptop also. Besides, although the majority of my friends are over on console, my best friend back home (700 miles away) is a PC gamer, and now I have a much greater reason to talk to him and keep our long distant friendship strong (as chessy as it may sound). Not only am I excited to explore Fallout, but I'm also excited to explore PC gaming and the modding community in general. They just bring so much more to games. I know this post may seem awfully random, but if you read, thanks! and I hope you enjoyed the short story.
Many times I had taken on ( Fallout: New Vegas, Ultimate Edition ) with difficulty set at very hard and with hardcore mode activated. Today is the very first time I am playing Fallout 4: G.O.T.Y edition on Xbox One.
I think I am ready for Survival mode.
I always carry a primary, a secondary (pistol) and a knife or a machete. I also get some backpack mods because It looks more immersive and reminds me of skyrim's frostfall and campfire
From looking at this I see 1 thing I dont like, the fact that you dont have any extra bars for the water, food etc
+Benjamin Arnott yes hud needs some rework, but it's a really different and better experience
sleeping mats=bonfires
Stimpacks=Estus Flask
Exactly what I was thinking XD
I never really considered as something I might buy but now I might actually pic it up on a sale
+DeathSeekerism more like lifegems from ds 2 :)
Praise the sun!
Looks like a welcome breath of fresh air to play the game. I haven't tried the DLC yet, but I was getting a little bored with having the best weapons and never really being in danger at any time.
Just reached Diamond City and i'm loving it
the game should of had this when it released. SURVIVAL mages this game great!
When survival mode is still too easy.
I agree.
Cooking , using my Companion inventory for emergency supplies, not abusing Chems and unable to abuse stimpak make Sense.
1:58 anyone know what type of armour he is using? the gauntlet's in particular?
+Liam93 Its a new power armor set with the Automatron DLC, its T60 Power armor with electricity running through it, Like the Enclave Energy power Armor in new vegas. This also applies an Energy weapon buff for each piece you have. As for how far it is in the game it was only a few missions in and dropped from a named mob that you had to kill so you wouldn't miss it
Robert Montgomery Ok thanks i have got that DLC and the power Armour but my main lvl 65 character is a non power Armour sneak based build (snipe/melee) with grim reaper sprint and shit. (so i Haven't tried it out yet)
This mode is probably gonna put me on suicide watch when it's fully released
+Derek Bing It actually isn't that hard once you get used to it. I've spent about 8 hours setting up settlements, I'm level 17 now and I haven't been to Diamond City yet, lol.
+ThornInTheEye I got to diamond city at lvl 47
+Edwin Hernandez on normal difficulty?
ThornInTheEye hard.
Edwin Hernandez why did you ignore it then?
there shouldn't even be a difficulty adjustment , just this.
I beat Skyrim on Survival Mode and I had so much fun. The mechanics added made the game more difficult but also more rewarding and satisfying. Fallout 4 did the same thing, except it made me realize how bad my accuracy is. And its kinda difficult to run a melee build in survival so.....
i really liked playing playing in hardcore through new vegas and i am looking forward to go through a survival play through in fallout 4...
but i doubt i'll be playing it like that forever
Gamespot, if you are going to release your opinion on survival mode within Fallout, then make it sound like your own opinion. Instead, you made it sound like you were paid by Bethesda to have a very bias point of view.
Onto my next point, the changes in this update are very good for those who want to have it and I was excited to use it, until I saw the change to how players save. Instead, Bethesda has turned this game into a sleeping simulator.
Third, I understand that Bethesda probably did it for testing purposes, but there is still the possibility they may try to do some shady stuff. They have disabled mods and the console in the update, which is very selfish of Bethesda.
Finally, Bethesda, this is a very clunky update and you need to rework how the options work within the update. Make it so we have the option of each of the changes instead of bundling them all together without any options. This is very lazy and just makes no sense from a consumer point of view.
+Sterling Im 1000000000000000000000000% sure it disables mods only during the beta so that it's 100% the game and that all feedback is legit. Mods can tamper with it during the beta phase. They will probably allow mods when it's fully released.
+BizarRabbit Here's a fun fact for you, I did not dislike the video. However, you do have a point.
+Sterling Im pretty sure it's only for the beta, when it's official out you can use mods again.

I really don't agree with the title.
Why? You would thing a post acopalyptic game would be harsher and have human needs as an important feature.
+Ostfriese93 cant handle a game not on "easy" lol fucking scrub
Scrub Lord
n00b
What a scrub can't even play minecraft on peaceful creative😂
Good video and in my opinion a spot on assessment of Survival mode. I was totally bored with the vanilla game, this is an whole new ball game. Level 9 now and loving it.
The game is so much fun in survival mode because you can't just run around destroying everything and clearing dungeons
