Who would have thought that someone could make replacing a bearing on a washer both interesting and entertaining! Lots of great tips. Thanks and, keep the great videos coming!
FYI, my Horizons are about 7 years old, and the internal threads on the end of the main basket shaft are LEFT handed threads!!!! Be aware of this when you are removing the bolt!!!! I apologize for repeating it, if you said that in video, but I didn't pick up on that, but it is definitely worth repeating!!! I learned the hard way!
Biggest trick to it. Dont let the bearing wear too much. Once you hear the noise start take machine out of service. Seem like if it goes for a few days that shaft wont let go of the bearing. Good Luck!
I use my socket set for the car to knock the bearing out. Saves scratches on the housing. Another handy thing to have is a magnetic plate to hold all the little screws cos 9 times out of 10 you come to put that last screw in and you can never find it. I hate replacing bearings. On domestic machines I usually tell people to just scrap them cos it's not worth the hassle plus new machines are so cheap and it's not cost effective to do a bearing replacement
As a prior auto mechanic there are bearing and seal driver kits made specifically to replace them where the flat plate matches up and drives it in straight. No tapping around the edge to walk it in, less potential hub damage There are several kits starting around $30 with 8-10 sizes in the kit. If a larger size is needed look at heavy truck parts store for sizes up to around 8"diamater
Great video -- I've actually got one of these to change, but, the plan was always to find the generic bearing numbers to rebuild the 'spare' so that we can keep swapping hubs out to save time in the middle of the night (most repairs are done late night). A nice thing to have sometimes for this sort of thing is a pneumatic air hammer/chisel -- noisy as all get out, but very effective. I'm now wondering if there's an SDS bit that would work as a regular hammer, as I've already got a cordless SDS+ hammerdrill that technically should work for this purpose....
we have a 20 lb huebesh washer. the issue we have is it leaking on the 6 o'clock position and the rubber seal is okay on this machine. do you have videos that shows how to troubleshoot this
My washer is bouncing around like crazy, it's level and on a concrete floor with rubber feet. I replaced the shocks using your video but it's still really bouncy and out of balance. Do i need to replace the bearing or is it something else?
Bad bearing will give a roaring sounds. At 1st very low roar. Then a couple days it will be very loud. Bangy and unbalanced sounds more like you bolts. Either your base is loose or the machine bolted to base is loose. If it also shake that would be issue. When machine off you can rotate the drum and hear the bearing. If not bearing ok. Hope that helps!
If heating it won't free it. What alot of repairs guys do is cut the drum shaft. They reach behind hub with a Sawzall and cut the shaft. You'll be able to reuse the hub. But you will need a new tub. What's happen is the bearing has seized on the shaft. Another option is to chip out outer bearing you see then use long punches to knock out inter bearing. If you have two bearings in hub.
Great video. Do you have part 2?

Good job! Is it possible to change the spinspeed of this model? I have this an it spins only about 600-800 rmp.

Never mind I just found it...title is..Going On Vacation with a Laundromat!$! | Following Keenan ! Bearing Replace Part #2
The bearing kit calls for using Loctite 680 (green) on the bearing seats. Do you do this?
I did not.
Carefully also the bolt holding that pulley on is reverse thread.
Please do a video on the speed Queen 30lb or 40lb bearing change
I can do that!! It will be a few weeks. Those bearing are easier than horizon, surprisingly.
Do you know what bearings to buy if I have an extra bearing housing?
What are the symptoms of a bad bearing? Does it make a grinding noise? Mine keeps giving C1 errors and it sounds bangy and unbalanced. Thanks

Is there any locking system, like a small Ln key screw from below of hub centre hole between two bearings ?
Somebody suggested me ...
Wooden base in a laundry ?????? Great video but that thing seems so flimsy that it could destroy itself in a out of balance load on spin.
Anyone find part 2?
Could i get the parts number for the bearings? I cant find the large one on grainger
