- One more implementation of the Hexapod architecture has an ultra-compact footprint, theoretically unlimited vertical travel, lightweight moving structure and, of course, six degrees of freedom (6DOF). This concept can be used for highly dynamic motion, jitter and vibration simulation.

I was on the design & development team, 25 years ago, for a little telescope down in Texas - HET. Designed the star tracking system, where we took a similar hexapod, inverted it, hung it off an XYZ and rotational structure to track the stars across the face of the mirror (11 meters; ~36 feet), where it held the telescope's instrumentation package at the moving focal point. 20 degrees of freedom. Worked like a champ.
I've been there! I visited the McDonald Observatory with my family as a little kid back when I lived in Texas. :)
The most impressive part about this is how this real footage looks like bad CGI.
it's because the footage is 'too perfect', in CGI the best perfection is imperfection
I finished watching all the videos on this channel, reall appreciate you work, keep it coming please
Divyansh, thanks a lot! Highly appreciate your feedback! And thank you for watching all my videos!

@@OleksandrStepanenko I like what you are doing in terms of promoting different robot geometries, *but people are getting mislead.*
I have been doing automation and robotics of 30+ years and companies like Fanuc & ABB have had these types of robot geometries 20+ years ago. This is an amazing version of this kind of robot. The motion is incredibly smooth and I know how hard it is to tune motion systems and you have done brilliantly. That's some of the best motion I have seen in a while.
*Just remember there are many many people out in the world who know almost nothing about automation robotics and they have been fed mountains of bullshit in recent years.* You need to explain it better that this is your version of a geometry that doesn't get used much. I'd love to know what your repeatability is. This could be fantastic for 3D printing. Most 3D is actually just layers of 2D. With this you could do true 3D printing.
Way too often these days people are either misleading or letting people be mislead about technical development. This is great work but please keep people informed.
Like no kidding watching it low res makes it look like CGI with that almost perfect control of motion.
It looks so much like CGI that I don't believe you. Put a banana on it or something.
the humming sound of the motors is proof that it is real
If you watch some of the other vids you can see his hand. He has the camera on a robotic arm that pans giving the artificial vibe
@@nathanp5877 you ruined it.... tsk
He's doing his best to make it look like CGI, I don't really get it. Everyone is trying to make CGI look like the real world and make cameras better and better to make it look like our eyes and this guy literally sets up the lighting to make it look like Cinema 4D with basic lighting and plain ambient occlusion.
@@nathanp5877 You can fake those.
Where has this channel been all my life?
Well if you knew anything about industrial robots you'd know that this geometry isn't new and that companies like Fanuc & ABB have had these types of robots for 20+ years.
Pretty neat... My little girl wants to study robotics when she grows up, I'm gonna show this video to her. Thanks. Sub !
Thanks a lot! 😊
Can i learn these types of machines by choosing mechatronics as my engineering subject?
@@kavishkakavishka8117 well... For the moment she's 5 years old, so I didn't get into real scholar investigation still... 😂😂 So no idea, sorry.
Robots coming for those cake decorator jobs! Nothing is safe!
Aye and belly dancers aren’t safe neither !!
Wiooooooow
So elegant design! Very cool! 😎
Thanks a lot! :)
would it not also give you better control/stability to have the actuator layout in a hex pattern?
Are these ball joints only a magnets or is it some type of more solid connection? I need such ball type of joint for a different project.
This looks like a much improved design for an artificial spine disc.
always love these things
How would you do a forward/inverse kinematic of this
Is this what it sounds like to be in the Ironman suit? Haha
what actuators are those? Pneumatic? and ball joints?
Wooow, que interesante!!!
the music is lit
Thanks for this design I am gonna use it in my suit
Some of our machines at work have a system similar to this that controls the Z, A and B axis. Kinda cool to see without a spindle bellow cover hiding it all
Супер!!!!!
Alex Sam Спасибо :)
How are those ball joints attached? magnets?
The fact that this thing isn't the size of the average monitor, but akin to a small desktop PC is blowing my mind, u should put something next to it for size reference, like a water bottle or something
i bet its ant sized
what joints are used? and do you know of a simpler but similar system that only needs to do side to side, no rotation or spinning, wanna use something like this on my model and not sure if i need all 6 of the control parts
They look like magnets + ball bearings.
Саня, Ты крут!
Спасибо 😊
looks like that would make a good robotic wrist/forearm mechanism
Hi, very impressive video. Could you tell me where you bought the ball joint and cup? Thank you
Thank you!
I found it in the local store, but I'm sure, you can order it on Amazon or eBay, just type: magnetic joints for 3D printer.
Quite impressive. What would be required to turn the platform into a gimbal of sorts?
how can I get into kinematics and work on stuff like this?
Wow nice. Now all it needs is a Browning M2 on top.
a weapon realy only needs 3 degrees of freedom in a gimbal but why not
Brilliance
Thank you!
This would make a really cool upside-down 3D printer.
or cnc carving with a fixed blade
Great idea, companies hire this guy and make a 3D printer.
can you make tutorial on kinemaitc video and interface with hardware
0:30 "Gurrrl"
Very cool design. Consider using race car ball joints for a larger prototype. I am using the QA1 1210-238B Ultimate Ball Joint on mine.
This would make an extremely versatile wrist joint for a humaniod robot. heaps of room through center for other circuits and wiring also.
How in the hell did you get it to rotate? Seems like it would want to go randomly one way or the other... is that the case? It can't have much torque though... yes?
That’s why I’m not really sure if this is not cgi. I’ve watched several his videos, and there are some itchy moments that I can’t completely understand. Movement can’t be sooo perfect, when sometimes the whole construction would be hell of unstable
Genius!
Dmitry Komkov Thank you!
Looks like that would work very well for a new swashplate design for a chopper.
These videos arouse me.
Looks like main part of neck structure. For a GIANT robot.
what if one of the motors stops working?
Those don't look like normal "captured" ball joints. Are the tensioned with cable or something?
My guess is they are magnetick.
Those are magnetic joints... practically useless 😕
they are magnetic ball joints
@@fireworm91 yes, you are correct, which is why it didn't work. oh wait...
@@isafctat this is a simulation of operativity... in reality the magnetic joints are knocked off by a glass of water...
So , yes it is pretty useless in practical applications
Can you post a link to those swivel ball joints? Looks great!
I found them in the local store, but I'm sure they are available on Amazon as well. Just type "magnetic joints for 3d printer"
Interesting range of motion. Someone probably has a use for it already.
Amazing that CGI is so good that it has to be disclaimed as it would be the easier way to do this.

That is very nice. May I ask what kind of ball joints are those? can't find similar ones on the net
Thanks! These are magnetic ball joints (sold as a kinematic kit for a delta 3D printer).
What are those universal joints and where do you get them?!
You can find them on Amazon, just type "universal joint for RC car".
Hi, any papers availble for the mathematics ?
There are plenty of papers on Hexapod kinematics available.
Впечатляет, молодец!

Looking good! What are you using for ball joints? I'm hoping to build a Stewart platform camera platform.
Neodymium magnet and steel sphere
@@OleksandrStepanenko ok, I would never have guessed that! Thanks!
You just solved the wrist prosthetic problem... this is the perfect, most simple way of creating accurate movement for a prosthetic wrist on our current generation prosthetic hands.
Yes, Brilliant application Idea!
0:29 Now it's time to bring it around town.... bring it around town...
Does mechatronics subject covers these types of machines to some extent? By the way i'm so much interested abt these
If you learn robotics/mechanical engineering you should be able to design these mechanisms.
Do you think it could be implemented with big servos or steppers to move loads up to 150 kg ?
Good job , elegant.....
Absolutely. Thanks!
NICEEEE!!! what kind of actuators are you using?? and how are you controlling it, arduino? thanks, you got a new subscriber! :-)

Content 👑 what a channel. What kind of spherical joint is that?
Thanks! Magnetic spherical joint for delta 3D printer.
Okay, who's up for mass-producing these on a much larger scale to create a more reasonable version of Aperture Science panels
Олександр, для головы андроида прикидываю конструкцию, то что на видео интересное. Что вы бы сами посоветовали?
are those magnetic joints? if yes super idea... did never think about that 🙂
Yes :)
Cool, if only this wasn't as loud it culd work really well in a set
Have you considered it as a platform for motion control camera work?
Yes, but the robot arm is more suitable for these purposes, I think.
GrabCAD есть на бирже?
Imaging the possible applications.
Could you make a video assembling this? I don't totally believe this isn't CGI. I understand how the mechanism works, I've seen versions of it in real life, but this video has a few lighting and texture anomalies that I recognize from when I've done 3D renderings.
ruclips.net/user/OleksandrStepanenko
Here are the actual photos
When you visit his youtube page, there is a general demonstration video, and at the end of that video he lifts one of the motors up, and I guess that just can't be a 3d rendering...
Can I buy this from you?
I feel like this could be used on like the bed of a 3D printer xD with the head stationary. Could also even use the 6-deg of freedom to allow printing some crazy overhangs without supports.
you got close. google "3D delta printer"
@@tillasmax Those hang the print head on a delta system. I am talking about doing it the other way around.
@@kd9kck376 I completely get what you are saying. I was just trying to make a point that the systems are similar and if the tech could be adapted to a delta printer it would produce better prints although upside down printing would be cool to see.

This is cool, but is this applicable on huge scale?
Absolutely!
what are u planning to do with this ?? i mean what is the final product ??
Attach a router in the center and you have a great milling/drilling machine for all sorts of weird shapes. Also, it is used in aircraft flight simulators, where the people inside the cockpit feel like they are accelerating or changing direction because of the way the platform tilts and the occupants feel the force of gravity and sense it as a turn.
@@jmchez niceeeee
@@jmchez Basing size from other videos you will need to replace the word "router" with power head from a dental drill.
@@andreblanchard8569 Oh, for this particular device, sure. However, others make them big enough to house a flight deck simulator with three people inside.
The sounds very similar with Knightmare frames' moving sound in Codegeass.

Killing Floor Craft Machine (Trader Pod).
I see this as a 'finger' at the end of an arm.
The arm places the finger near the work-site, the finger gets busy while the arm adjusts to keep the finger in good position.
The range of motion of the finger is limited, but very accurate.
The range of motion of the arm is large, repeatable, but not as 'fine' in motion as the finger.
Put the arm on a Boston Dynamics Dog-Bot...3d-printing/welding/painting for on-site repairs...how many trade-unions can we piss-off at once?

Hey man I want to create something like this my self, How do you control all 6 motors at once?
With 6 stepper motors, microstepping, driver ICs and a fast microprocessor, you do control them sequentially but it is so fast it looks like they are all going at once
Have a "Wobbly Elvis" on top!
Can't you do that with 4?
No 🙂
