Hello Sir, Thank you for your informative videos, more importantly for giving people like me hope to pursue this path.I am an IMG with anesthesia residency from India I have completed my USMLE step 1/2/CS, yet to give my step 3. I have a question, I have secured an interview for an ACGME accredited Anesthesia fellowship will the program be able to give me position after I complete my Step 3. As most of the states have criteria to give a License with at least 1 year of residency training in USA, or PD can waive that off. Also can i ask for AEP during the interview. Sorry for such a long question. Thank you 🙏
Dr. Vinay, congratulations for your interview. You should certainly inquire about the AEP. In theory, you don't need USMLE Step 3 to get into a fellowship but i suggest you do it as soon as possible. It helps in many different ways. Remember that you as a candidate in the fellowship will not be in a ACGME accredited position! PD's cannot waive licensing requirements. They are based on state laws! Your focus should be to get into AEP and if selected, licensing will work out.
Sir, I have done mbbs from India and right now I am thinking to move to Canada via any bridge course and side by side will give mccqe , kindly help !e to know about this should I do like that? If yes, which course do I need to join preferably? It would very kind of you for helping me regarding this
Dr. Bhumi, there are many types of bridging programs available. They cost money. I am not sure of your interests. You have to think about what this is going to give you before you move in this direction and how this will help you accomplish your long term goals.
So, if u go for residency after h1b visa expiration, is there a definite chance that u will get it renewed and its not a lottery system for residency student doctors????
