Great video! You explained the concepts of whips very well with good detail. I only commented because I was surprised when I saw you were a small channel and the video didn't have any comments! You'll be big soon bro! Peace!
Wrong. The term exists because the purpose is literally to "scrub off speed". The whole point is to stay as low as possible over the jump in order to get the tires back on the ground as soon as possible to continue driving forward. No tire on ground = no forward acceleration
i come from a bmx background and if i had to live with only one move the rest of my life it would be the whip. It's the move i enjoy the most and you just feel like dancing with your bike in the air, nothing in the world beats that feeling.
Lol "sea bounce" It's called a "seat bounce"or "seat hop" because you preload the bike off the lip of a jump whip seated in order to get more height. Otherwise sick video!
You can maybe spot the riders eased foot mid whip, when he wants to turn back straight he tenses his feet again (whole body) and forces another rotation onto the bike. the bike acts as a counterweight aswell (if thats the right term) so you can use ur whole body as "one muscle" pushing against it. And since that heavy bike is well balanced (heavy engine in the middle, less weight towards the outsides) you can turn it easily with ur body. I think its cool how u can spot that the forward motion isn't really being influenced by any rotational motion the rider is doing thus giving you the pause of newtons laws^^
The real answer is that the pistons in the motor act like a gyro and naturally want to bring the bike back to the way it started out. That’s why they gas the shit out of the bikes to make the engine spin faster
It’s debatable whether or not scrubs are whips. In the sense all scrubs are whips but not all whips are scrubs. Scrubs follow the common esteemed definition of whips.
I believe any whip or scrub is beneficial to the rider rather than just jumping and coasting or just free riding. When you go on a trampoline or go run and jump, ride a BMX or simply run down a set of stairs and jump the last couple . Do this, example. Run down a set of stairs and then the last 4-5 just jump in the air and don’t move your body at all just jump up and like a tooth pick hold in the air and land on your feet. Okay now do that again but this time when you jump bring your legs up and bend your knees and then prepare for you landing. When your in the air and you move least way possible your not only allowing for air resistance to do its thing and slow you down but you also cut thru the air as a brick wall. . Same reason why it’s harder to do a back flip without tucking your knees in. Then the landing, when your on a bike the shock and initial part when your bike meets the ground the force is going yo be much stronger cause the whole bike absorbed the landing. When you “whip” not only do you cut thru the air and cause less resistance allowing you to move a lot faster , but the momentum of your body shifting from up and down or back and forth pushes the weight foward and back down allowing you to get up in the air over your gap and then cut back down as quickly as possibly. Then it helps when you are moving consistent in the air gaining control over the bike so the second you land the shock that’s absorbed is not all distributed in equal parts but is spread out in sections . That’s why you see some riders like more beginners who ramp and don’t whip or move at all in big jumps soon as they land they hit flat on the bike goes down kinda flat and the riders feet slip out and when the bike springs back up it throws the rider off. When they move and try to gain more control when they land usually they land but then they get tossed around and have to fight control usually one leg or arm is thrown off as the body fights it to gain control. Once you master this you don’t just stop with momentum and force , but that cutting thru the air and going up and down as fast as can be, we’ll soon as you land all that shock and energy absorbed your bike, you can see them, the tire will kick sideways and the more pro riders will almost drift sometimes cause they know how to ride and soon as they land they take completely off and they are gone. I’d argue the whip done correctly , vs someone who does not whip. Would be seriously a huge factor in who won. My money on the guy whipping. So much so I’d almost bet his time would be cut down so drastically the person not whipping would realize how much of an advantage and would immediately pick up on it to try and catch back up.
wow, they actually face backwards... high jump? that's kool. I saw the half pipe thing recently. Raha is the best at that. I like how there actually is a function at times, like the scrub or trejectory correction.
great video but motocross isn't the dirt bike category of sports, motocross its one of the categories inside dirt bike motorsports and whips and scrubs are different, whips are for style, and scrubs are for going faster up jump faces and reaching the ground quicker for more ground/acceleration time.
When guys look like they're about to complete a 360 but instead do an insane almost backward facing whip, is that a different kind of whip or just an accentuation of the same trick? Ahhh dude nvm I skipped ahead and pressed pause, commented here, and as soon as I pressed play, the video began explaining the two primary kinds of whips haha

You’re videos are put together so well. Need more advertising of this channel and it’ll blow up fast
I’m sorry but I gotta be that guy. a scrub is when you are trying to get low a whip is just for style
But you can also do both in the same jump but most of the time when you say whip you mean showing off

@@legenderekonwheels You explained the exact same thing.
How is that channel not globally known. Quality is 10 steps above "popular channels". Keep up the good work!!

Excellent video. I hope there's another video coming to explain OPPO WHIPS... the sickest form of whip.
Lol "sea bounce"

Lol ikr!?
I mean.. He said seat verbally but just made the typo “ sea “on the graphics
2:44 JUST HOW ?? Please how. Someone ELI5 to me how that guy momentarily paused all of Newtons laws

Scrubs ARE NOT whips. They’re a whole different thing

True 👆
Plus the word “whip” gets more clicks than “scrub”
True but scrubs are derived from whips so it made sense why he included scrubs as a type of whip
You can scrub without whipping
I believe any whip or scrub is beneficial to the rider rather than just jumping and coasting or just free riding.

If you pause it at the right time (roughly 2:46) it looks like he’s hitting the jump backwards 😅
Though there are a lot of things I disagree with how you've worded and described, good video.

wow, your videos are insane. I'm really enjoying them! the editing is really well done!
This is hard to make sense of, the Quality of Your Content isn'tt proportional to its popularity or Views!
Your Quality being high!
Another Banger. 🙌🏾
Such an underrated channel
Turn up are sick whips too
the momentum doesnt stop mid air, whips come back on their own from the engine,
Great video!
never knew whips were actually useful, really well put together video
such an underrated channel
Best video I've seen yet

Its called seat-bounce not sea-bounce. Anyways love to see more content out there about my favorite sport!
Thanks for this
The endo and flying W never gained as much popularity. :(
Great vid deserve more view.
2:34 *oppo
You did clearly not understand whips. Bar turn not even mentioned.
Slingshot
Slingshot tailwhips gives advantage in racing ramp motocross
Still dont know how its done.... vague explanation
You're kidding, right? 'Sea bounce'? 'guy-ro-scop-ic'? Try seat bounce and gyroscopic, the g pronounced as a j.
The dare devil stuff is not motocross. Please don't do anything stupid on a jump. No evidence no proof.
Great video !
Great video !
