My close friend had a wish bass where the neck became a banana. It was taken care of, but on his next bass he asked for a truss rod in the bass, and it's straight now. I've played his wish basses and the necks are super thick on both versions with and without truss rod.
Cheers Shane. If the banana was below and not above it would be less top-heavy and you could see what you were playing better? Another wonderful contraption though - thanks!
Thanks Shane! I've been ranting about this for years. If you align the wood grain properly and use good dried straight grain hardwood there is no need for a truss rod.
i broke (snapped off) a truss rod on an old Gibson ES-35. i was over tightening 😮…. and BAM!! sounded like a gunshot. that’s the worse feeling in the world.
Good to see you again. Thanks for the build ideas.
Thanks Shane. I will be building a two string bass soon and will definitely use a laminated neck. Great tip. 👍👍👍🎸

I had a wishbass back in the day. They're super cool weirdo basses. I regret getting rid of it!
