Dallas only outgained San Francisco by 1 yard on offense. 4 turnovers were the difference in this game. Aikman had a perfect passer rating in the 2nd Half. The Actual key play of the game occured at 1:59 on 3rd and 11 when Aikman dumps the ball off to Smith over the middle, and Smith breaks 2 tackles, and drags a 3rd tackler for the 1st down. At that point in the game the score is only 17-13. Things could have easily changed if Dallas had to punt at that point. Dallas held the ball for 10 of the 15 minutes of the 3rd Quarter. 6 of Irvin's 8 catches picked up 1st downs. Harper average 39 yards a catch in this game. Cassilas had 3 sacks. Madden said that the Cowboy's coaches said John Gesek graded out the highest among the starting 5 offensive linemen (at least for the 92 season) despite being one of the few starters who never made a Pro Bowl in the 90s. There were Zero pass interference calls in this game, to me a sign of high quality play.
I had to educate this younger man at my job about how the cowboys used to be in the, he said he would have loved to seen that time the 90s cowboys were the baddest
Remember, as the final seconds run off the clock, a rainbow 🌈 formed over the Cowboys sidelines. Roger Staubach wore his #12 and at the coin toss as honorary captain. The Harper catch was supposed to go to Irvin but he went to the wrong side and essentially was the same play as the 81 game that Drew Pearson was horse collared...that is what beat us in 81, not the catch.
This is still my favorite Cowboy win of all time.
30 years later this game still ranks as one of my all time favorite wins by any team I follow.
I'll never forget the exhilaration I felt after the Alvin Harper deep slant - BALLGAME OVER!
Me to and hard to believe it was 30 yrs ago yesterday
4:23 a message to all Cowboys haters! DC4L!!!
It's along shot but a replay of this sure would be nice!!
Kevin Smith was HUGE this day.

This was the game that exorcised 1982 "Catch" game from our rivalry memories or, at least, soothed that wound.
