I've been listening to this album since it was released in the UK being a fan of each of its component parts, Pantera, Crowbar and C.O.C. I probably overlistened to it but it still sounds as fresh in 2019 as it did in the mid nineties, especially hearing it through your ears so to speak. Another great vid, thank you!

The record was called NOLA (meaning New Orleans, Louisiana). You and I have discussed that history. This album was something he needed to make at a rough time in life. And you’re dead on with the Lynyrd Skynyrd reference. That southern rock vibe was definitely intentional.

Yeah dude!! I can't thank you enough for this dude. Great song. I know very little about Down other than it was a side project for Phil and what not, but you are right, this song had a rawness and blues power to it that would have killed back in the day on the radio. The drums could use an upgrade - soundwise- but it also kinda fits the feel for the song. Thanks again my dude. Fuck...yeah!!

For intensity then I reccomend Sit Stay Roll Over.
For a good mix of vocals and insturments then I would choose Pisces.
Either way, I believe you will like their sound. Good luck!

Yea man ur in for a treat with Down. Incredible band. When Rex brown joined the band they took another step towards classic rock with Down II & Down III. You definitely wanna see them live on tour.
      Down discography:
      Nola (1995)
      Down II (2002)
      Down III (2007)
Down IV EP part 1 (2012)
Down IV EP part 2 (2014)
They EPs are longer than most full length cds. All 5 records are killer. I can't say enough about Down. They are a legendary band

You definitely need to react to Corrosion of Conformity, they have many great songs, and the lead singer and rythym/lead guitarist for COC is the lead guitarist for this band as well, if you were not aware! :)
A few tracks I would recommend in particular is Deliverance, Pearls Before Swine, Without Wings ( Which to me is arguably one of the best musical melodies ever created, and surprisingly difficult! Stay Safe and keep rocking out!

Possibly the greatest "super group" ever Phil Anselmo of Pantera, Kirk Windstein of Crowbar, Pepper Keenan of Corrosion of Conformity, Jimmy Bower of Eyehategod and Todd Strange of Crowbar. The people have changed a bit since, but Down will always be amazing.
