Anastasia was my movie back in the day. I remember watching it as a kid in the late 90's. And of course, Aaliyah was amazing. This brought back some good memories.
This was in August 1997, when she was 18. About 2-3 months before Anastasia came out, also when she re-recorded The One I Gave My Heart To. She got an advance preview of the movie.
any one notice she looked younger for the making of the song but older in the music video? I think make up made her look older but not in a bad way. her glam kinda coverd up her youngness and baby face
Aaliyah was always positive and grateful for everything that came her way. She genuinely explained every project she worked on and put her all into it.
Mico, The DON right?? i think this is the only song that she sang that showcases her vocal range. i had no idea she coupd reach high notes. dunno why she always sang easy songs. she could have sung much better songs
Dina K Aaliyah sang the way she did for stylistic reasons. She said so herself. She could blow when she wanted to. There are several stories of her from producers behind the scenes where they said she was singing and belting in full chest voice in her early teen days. One even talked about how she impressed singing the Greatest Love of All. This girl even got a co sign vocally from Whitney! There are definitely other songs in her catalog that show off her range, starting with the first album. Some people just foolishly choose to go by her singles
I miss you Aaliyah, a lot. I remember when I first listened to her songs through the radio. I was about 13 years old 2001. I was hypnotized. She was so beautiful... 18 years I named my first daughter first born baby after her. By her sings she touched the very sensitive part of my life. That why I love so much... Rest In Peace Aaliyah. I will always love you...
It just doesn't make sense as to why she died. Her death was so preventable that 18 years later her death doesn't make any sense and she should be alive right now.
@@yoboi_jayy2665 I was born in 2004. So I was born after her and Left Eye died. Two beautiful musicians gone in such tragic and preventable ways. People saw me wear t-shirts with her picture on it & asked me if THAT was my twin sister. Her brother looks like 2 of my brothers. Crazy! & she died on me & my twin sister's 18th birthday.
This song almost sounds better like this n the ending she did it! My favorite part: “attt laaasssttt!” 😝 Aaliyah bish we miss you..... R.I.P Aaliyah 🙏🏽 so sorry what happen to u......
Wow! She look as if she's barely trying here. And this beautiful voice us just pouring out. People don't even know how terribly shy Aaliyah was. And would get nervous when performing live. Which along with dancing simultaneously, sometimes affected her vocal performance. Leading some to say she couldn't sing. Which obviously wasnt true. But boy, just imagine what it would have been like to see her grow to the point where she was as comfortable on stage as she was in this clip. She had so much more than what we saw.
She is wonderful tp be the best R&B singer, Aaliyah of empire of New York. A legendary Icon is here to make it right. January is the Anniversary of her month.
Aaliyah showed that you don’t have to scream and yell to sing ! Her voice was very soothing to the ears like you can feel her soul when she sings 😫🥰
No. She only proves, she has a soft voice, and not a belting power voice

She held it down for the soft-voiced singers and she was always so mature. It's hard to imagine she was only 22 at the time of her passing.
Singers in general
She has a pretty powrful voice
She's only wearing a touch of eye shadow and some lip stick but she was still stunning! Her skin was beautiful!

anjelheaven she was pretty without makeup
She had such a sweet light voice. So sad she's not here with us anymore. RIP Babygirl.
People say she can't sing but when you hear her voice you know it's her. Her falsettos and harmonies.
@Joyce Williams people say it all the time. You don't have to go too far through the comments to find someone saying she can't sing.
Whitney Houston wanted her playing Sparkle just this should be enough a Queen endorsing an R&B Princess
People say she can’t sing, y’all need to remember this was YEARS ago she was so young n still getting comfortable with her voice.
SoulRevive shut up. Everybody knew she could sing. Shut up......
People who say that are clearly dumb
Her voice is so soft and angelic.
Everything about her was beautiful ❤️🙏🏽 we miss you baby girl

Just breathtakingly beautiful & she knew she killed it *sighs*😩😍😍oh my heart
My heart skipped a beat when she smiled and laughed at the end. Man, she was so beautiful and talented. Why did she have to go so young??
she was a year younger than me here, she was only 18 and was so naturally gorgeous
She always the realist humble person. RIP Aaliyah 😇
