As a kid, playing the original, this scene meant a lot to me because I liked to imagine that all of Kharak was watching the launch of the Mothership on live television, and that they were cheering at the top of their lungs and crying tears of joy when the Mothership cleared the Scaffold because they believed that they would soon travel to a better life. Yet, none of them would live to see the Homeworld...
Only used three times in the original Homeworld. This, Return to Kharak, and the last cutscene... Yet, Adagio for Strings is at it's most powerful in Return to Kharak. Who would have known that three words shall embed themselves into gaming history... Kharak is burning...
This really should be a movie. If I won the next 1.8 billion dollar lotto then I would gladly give producers 10 million front money to start the movie and have the Homeworld game programmers on board to help out with story details and graphics and such. Would spare no penny on the quailty of movie.
This was not a game, this was pure art and emotions joined in the Universe. I'll never forget my feelings returning to my planet and found it totally destroyed. The creators of this game were touched by the light of a thounsands stars.
Probably the greatest first-time playthrough of my life, but the asteroid vs mothership mission was really unfair for immersion purposes. Last mission was great, too, the music, the friendlies you thought were enemies porting in and you are ready to toss the mouse....
“Day in the life of a true Mechanicus geeeza” “Wake up and greet the unit XM-24-Omega. My lil servitor, isn’t she beautiful? Time to take my arm in for maintenance. Rev up the Dragoon, UIIE. Quick stop at the forge and LOAD UP THAT PLASMIC BATTERY. Get a pint n data screen, forge lookin pristene and functioning lads. JUST A BIT OF BINARIC. Worker drone makes a 38,000 organic loss better. Pray down the local cogitator, GOOD OL PROCESSOR LOOK AT THAT!!! OMEGA MADE A GALVANIC RIFLE!! LOVELY! Hook up and have a couple of prayers to the Omnissiah with the priests! And finish up at THE FORTRESS OF SLEEP MODE.”
Are you sure you are not confusing this with Cataclysm, the unofficial sequel? I don't remember that as an option, though that could be down to my age and memory so not saying it as a fact, but as a question.

It's beautiful. My god. It's full of stars.
Ah, old times when the games were made out of passion, pouring your soul into your work. Innovation , mood, satisfaction.
those were the true Electronic Arts
There's still games like that today.
Don't get stuck in the past.
@@harrietr.5073 Final Fantasy 14. A game with music that hits hard...
What allways hits me the hardest is the line "construction would take 60 years.."

Kharak is burning...
That was the first time I felt a genuine rage. I wanted to murder sprites in a computer game left and right.... those days.
@@Asperger0815 No sprites in that game. They were entirely 3-D models.
@@Asperger0815Prisoner did not survive interrogation.
Ahh the memories. This sends shivers down my spine.
same!
This section honestly made the mothership Feel precious and made me work harder to defend it

I often think the same thing. If I won that much I would also make a movie or two. I'm surprised people with that amount of money dont.
As long as Randy Pitchford has no say, I’d be so happy.
Aaah... Agnus Dei...
This song... This game... This moment...
I still can't belive how deep into me it would get.
😍

What a beautiful song
Wonderful music for a wonderful game
You can never get your first time back. Was epic then. Still epic today.
Still gives me goosebumps 'till this day.
We are all that's left...
It is amazing, how they aligned the visuals with the music ...
... and that at least 2 times ...
(the 2nd time, when we came back to Kharak ... 😢)

Almost feel like they shouldn’t have used this music here. Use it for the first time when we return to find Kharak is burning.
All the sound effects were remastered out... :-(
I played as Taiidan ... I used the other Mothership ...
