This was one of my dads favourite songs. He passed away last week and I just wanted to listen to it again. Thanks for the memories. I hope you’re listening to this dad.
I never knew Bonnie Tyler sang this song or that it even existed. I only just heard it the other day on a radio station that plays 60s - 80s music. Its my new fav song lol. Bonnie was being interviewed by phone about this song and the album. Who knew? Obviously not me even though I love her music. The Radio Station playing this song is Radio 1116 4BH in Brisbane Australia.
I have said this before, and I will say it again voices like Bonnie Tyler’s don’t come around that often. It’s rare that someone can sound different after there first single and still be able to sound great like she does.. A true gem💎 !
I was born in 1975 and it was 1994 when I first bought her album 'The world starts tonight'. Since then I collected all of her albums and she's been one of my favorite singers. She's been always so powerful, at the same time so sweet, exotic, and sexy-hey, not only just the way guys usually think. Long live Bonnie Tyler and thank you. :-)

Wonderful to hear this. A great favourite of my husband. He didn't have many but this was one and he actually bought a tape of her singing this . It also reminded him of our motorbike holiday touring in France.
It takes me back to 2013 when I got lost in Paris and ended up visiting the Palace of Versaille because fate... and my lousy tourist skills led me there.
a brilliantly well written song...the chords just flow into eachother...the melody is simple...cliched...and superb...3 great hook lines in one song....genius...very well sung too. totally late 70s. bonnie looks so 70s pretty too...a perfect time capsule of a song.
Yes, it is quite a good tune. The song does have that polished late 70s pop sound, which The Eagles and a number of other artists in the LA area helped popularize. Its rhythm section rather reminds me of "It Never Rains in Southern California" by Albert Hammond. Moreover, the opening sequence is almost identical to the signature lick on The Crystals' 1960s classic "And Then He Kissed Me." A compelling sound, to be sure.
If only people could stay young forever... The fact that it's 2022 and not just her but an awful lot of artist of her time and before her are now at their winter just breaks my heart. Want them to remain the same just like their songs.
We all have to grow old, that's if we don't die when we're young. Just think of all the singers you like, who are now old, as they were when they were young.
Bonnie Tyler, Still The Worst Since 1983 when she sold out with "Total Eclipse." Before that, She Was The Greatest from 1976-1983(RIP). What a rotten sellout! I do listen to and really like early Bonnie Tyler on her first four albums, which are The World Starts Tonight(1977), Natural Force(1978), Diamond Cut(1979), and Goodbye To The Island(1981). They sound very different than Total Eclipse(1983) and after in that the sound is more countrified rock and soft rock with R&B and folk influences and Europop sound as well. It sounds like Kim Carnes in the 1970s when she was a country singer before her hit Bette Davis Eyes in 1981. I also like Kim Carnes before 1981.
