There’s actually a surprising amount of depth to him and Trevor I feel, where Franklyn’s story is on the simpler side. Michael actually understands and accepts why his life turned to shit and learns to live with it. Trevor’s a psychopath who has no empathy for the people he hurts, but is extremely wounded by Michael’s betrayal and ultimately is sick because of how lonely he feels. Franklyn in the end just wants to become a successful criminal
Michael literally betrayed his team. Not to mention Michael would 100% do this shit to franklin if it was the other way around. He'll save his own ass before considering your friendship. Lets also not forget he literally helped Franklin if he decides to kill trevor.

But when he was hanging on that ledge he realised that the Franklin was gonna kill the one person who was decent to him and wasn't a complete psycho.
Trevor’s was so much sadder just because he was the most loyal out of all them. I didn’t feel as bad for Michel as I did for Trevor since you gotta remember Michel backstabbed Trevor and tried to kill him but killed brad instead, yet Trevor forgave him throughout the story. Also if you choose to kill Trevor Michel agrees and if you don’t shoot the gas as Franklin to kill trevor michel kills him, but if you ask trevor to kill Michel he calls you a backstabbed and hangs up 😢

Frank actually feels bad after this mission and starts having hallucinations when you switch character from trevor to frank just like michael did after losing his family for some time😢😢
If Franklin was remotely in character, he would’ve walked away and never crossed paths with Michael again, even if he did choose to originally kill him
Michael is one of the most lovable characters because people later on in life can face all the trials and troubles with family. But the saddest part about the scene is that Michael finally got everything he wanted in the end but won't be able to see any of it. And that's the crulity that life may have for you.
