I was also so happy that is kept with the lore. This movie is for die hard fans. Elder goths if you will ;) it is not trying to make a fast and furious franchise, it’s taking an old story and making it was it could be now with technology without adding any unnecessary plot. Just true old school nasferatu but giving it the brilliant shine that it deserves. Bravo. It was fun watching your review. Your rendition of his accent was really good!!!
You looked so cold coming home from the movies, oof. 😮 Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this! An absolutely stunning review of a movie I will never watch 😂❤
Hi! I really loved your video, you really have a fantastic voice. I do have to intervene on something, if you permit. The origin of the Nosferatu word is not Greek, it is a mistaken transliteration from the Romanian Nesuferitu. We use this word to refer to the Devil, and it means the Unbearable one. The origin of the word is from the Latin sufferire, with the added ne negation particle.
I originally thought it was a Romanian word, but when I did a Google to fact check myself, I got a load of Greek origin information stating as I stated in the video 😖 (Also thankyou for the compliments 🥰 )
@thirstandvanity uh, no, Google is wrong. I'm Romanian, and I can tell you that most of the info out there on our language and culture is probably wrong. Case and point, the origins of this word.
Props to Bill Skarsgård but this film was sloppy... The count takes a boat ride from Romania to Germany?? Posh English aristocrats meant to be German? Premise of the film seemed to hinge on a horny girl with a desire for necrophilia?? The only thing original about it was a mustache 😂
Respect the opinion, but personally, i have to disagree. The count takes a boat cause it's a long journey and he is less likely to be disturbed on a sea voyage in his casket... Also follows what happens in the original Dracula story which is what Nosferatu is based on. The posh accent, I just saw that as a way offer highlighting class in an English spoken film... In a German spoken film it would be a German aristocrat. And personally i thought the finale was a really good way of explaining why Nosferatu was too distracted to notice the dawn. Especially as the original is him "transfixed by her beauty".
@thirstandvanity I get that Nosferatu plagiarised Bram Stoker but to not exclude a sea voyage to two essentially land locked countries in Europe? It's just not illogical and no one seems to notice? Perhaps because they are watching another Dracula film... The count is the only one who puts on an accent from his native country? English as they get aristocracy in Germany at that time is just laughable. To say this is based upon the original Nosferatu insult as I don't recall Orlok humping the damsel at the end. Tact was more of a thing back then I guess... Visually brilliant and Bill Skarsgård was excellent but the blatant plagiarism of the Dracula story left literally nothing to the imagination. What's the back story to Orlok? He's not Vlad the Impaler so he's not a warrior prince? Just an old pervert bitten by a vampire at some point in the past I guess 🤷♂️ There's no substance to Nosferatu unlike Dracula but it seems to get a pass? Gary Oldmans Dracula beat this to the punch a long time ago, a film from 1992 🤦♂️ I think people are too easily pleased with lazy lackluster modern cinema. (My humble opinion of course)
@elguapo5322 None of this countries are landlocked. They both have an access to the sea. Also you seem to think the characters should have a German accent? Like what? They speak English in the movie it's the language of the actors but in the world of the movie, they are speaking German with a posh German accent. And Nosferatu 1922 is a copyright infringement of Dracula so the 2024 movie being so reminiscent of Dracula is definitely spot on and appropriate. It's not a rip off of Dracula, it's just a new adaptation of the book.
@elguapo5322 i completely respect your opinion and I am glad you've voiced it. I just disagree 🙂 I think the lack of answers around Orlok actually really adds to the atmosphere of the film. In the old days of Myth, no one explained the origins of Plague, they just said it came from a plague bearer. Don't get me wrong, completely respect your issues with the movie and understand why this didn't do it for you, but in this case its the elements that you dont like, that are some of the reasons why I like it. I enjoy horror not being full explained. I enjoy them taking such and Iconic tale and making it darker and more inhumane. Though, I also loved Bram Stoker's Dracula from 1992
this was such a borefest. so a girl having a badboy ex, her ex returns and starts disturbing people, girl sleeps with him to stop him. wow what a story.. all other characters were unnecessary to the story. %90 of events were unnecessary. it' just a silly film.
@@bahadirozer you realise that this is literally the story of Dracula and Nosferatu? Like, I'm not sure why you would expect anything different from a retelling of the same tale.

I haven't seen much of Eggers work, but I was blown away by this.

@bahadirozer that's entirely fair. Evidently a lot of what really appealled for me, fell flat for yourself.
