Well done Kim. My mother was born in the village of Sandwick and I spent my summers on Lewis as a schoolboy. Memories and people I will never forget.

Hi Kim, the broch was constructed around 200-300BC, so it is thousands, not hundreds of years old.
    Cheers,😊

Thanks Kim This was the perfect thing to watch with a sunday morning coffee :D I really enjoyed seeing all of those historical
places ( I wanted to go and sit by that lonely bear :D ) they were all so fascinating. Like you said it is amazing how they could build something all those years ago that withstands the weather so well and is still standing now ! It is nice to see you & Ed enjoying yourselves despite the rain. Looking forward to next week already :D Teddy

Now that’s what I call Scottish weather! I enjoyed seeing those old buildings and stones, it’s amazing how they built those things and how people lived in the past. Well done on braving those conditions, looking forward to the next one 👍🏻

The sheiling looked really inviting. There was a teddy and teacups, even some knitting. Like the people just nipped out for a minute

That was unbelievable that the wind stops like that. I thought there was a roof on top, but I'm stunned that it was just a wall stopping that wind. Thanks for the history lesson. I love that part of your vlogs now. Have a safe trip!

I've been reading some of Peter May's books set in the Hebrides and had to put visual to his wonderful descriptions. This is wonderful; beautiful, unspoiled and true to Mr. May. Thank you so much for this 🥰

Nice video Kim, under obviously less than ideal conditions. Wow. I keep thinking about the builders - they were master stone masons, that's for sure...Again, thanks for sharing. I look forward to next Sunday.

Loved the vlog Kim, looking forward to the next instalment. BTW The sheiling looked like it would be a more comfortable place to spend the night than your tent!

It possibly would have been, although there is something comforting and exhilarating about sleeping in a tent in bad weather.

I remember before electricity. Some of those blankets looked a bit familiar too, and the tea tin. My English grandmother had willow pattern crockery.

Hi Kim. Glad you enjoyed your trip across to the rock 😊 The mill you went to in Shwabost was just at the bottom of my grandfather's croft in South Shwabost. It was actually built by the Norse invaders who visited Lewis, hence the many Viking related place names. There's a huge amount of history on the island's, BEAUTIFUL beaches and you can pretty much wild camp anywhere for free (so long as you tidy up afterwards) Have you been tonY in and the South West??

    • @kimgrantphotography

Thank you for your local knowledge! I love to hear from people who have connections to the places that I film. Makes everything so much more meaningful. tonY? Im guessing that is a typo ;)

Sorry Kim but 99% of us wouldn't last 3 days without electricity / hot running
water and access to supermarket . Add in outdoor toilet and sphagnum moss
for toilet paper...?🙁🙁. Oh ! And no internet / iphones etc.....
    Better make it 2 days.....?
