Not happy with Ken and Roman lying to Shiv. They literally reversed how that conversation went, and it’s hilarious because they don’t know that she knows (because Matteson told her). If I were her, I’d definitely cut their throats - because clearly, they’re cutting mine. And as we know, Shiv hates being betrayed. Ken literally “took her seat” in that meeting.
Yeah, they’re both on the same page. They both love money. He essentially said, “you’re judging me for valuing money? Would you love me if we lived in a shack?”. And she’s like, “good point lol”. Sooo, they’re the same.
Shiv scheduling her grief, Roman going on an emotional firing spree and then there's Kendall smiling at a recording of his dad calling him and his siblings idiots. Couple this with the ending scene of him floating face up in the water shows that something transformative is happening to his character. I can't wait to see how unhinged and reckless he becomes. It's gonna be fucking glorious.
The thing about Kendall is that, yes, he does take big swings, but he only cracks under pressure when he’s afraid that he will disappoint his dad or when he feels like he is alone and no one is backing him. Now he doesn’t have to be afraid of disappointing his dad and now he literally has the whole company rooting for him to succeed. When he has people backing him, he usually knocks it out of the park like in S2 with the Cruise trial, or when they were negotiating with Rhea to try and buy Pierce in S2 as well. Roman also is very clearly spiraling and is actually the wild card people need to be worried about cuz I feel like he’s about to blow up REAL SOON. Shiv manipulating Roman to back out of the presentation was also bad but then getting angry when Kendall actually did a good job was funny as hell. Matsson is just a big a clown as the kids are actually and I think he just showed the world that, and I LOVED how Kendall handled his tweet.
Yes, but Logan's judgement also had a positive effect on Kendall. It kept him grounded and realistic. Without Logan to temper Kendall, he's just a loose canon, spouting off nonsense for attention and never consolidating his actions with his goals.
@@johnjungkook2721 Not necessarily, I mean Kendall goes beyond but he also pulls himself back, no one does it for him and definitely NOT Logan. Kendall is smart enough to go toward the edge but never really jump off. I mean we have literally seen him do it plenty of times, we saw it in this episode with his presentation, he started off rocky and on another planet but he pulled himself back and even checkmated Matsson with his response to his tweet. He’s able to do that not because of Logan but I believe because deep down he’s afraid of what he would do if he just fully went over the edge, so he stops himself FOR himself not for Logan or because of Logan. But also, I say this knowing we still have 4 episodes left and he might just fully go over the edge which I’m terrified about because I do want the kids but especially Kendall to be okay at the end.
i think Kendall is just trying to back Roman even though he knows these are bad calls, which is sad cause Roman fails to back him every time, also at worst it only makes Roman look bad so he could probably use it against him
Karl perhaps unwittingly gives Kendall just the boost he needs moments before he goes on stage, when he tells him that if he says anything that isn’t true, he’ll “squeal.” I can only imagine Kendall thought to himself, “Like a pig.” This was moments after double letdowns: Roman urging his brother to reconsider the plan (after Shiv planted seeds of doubt) and the disaster with the fake stage house and clouds. Kendall’s look of dejection after both these events made me think for a second that he’d capsize, but Karl gave him a reason to go for the kill.
Great video as always!! I loved seeing Karl tell Kendall what's up lol He knows a thing or two about a thing or two! Same with Gerri. I think she said it all, "You're a weak monarch in a dangerous interregnum" and obviously "you're not your dad". They know this and they struggle with it a lot. I loved this episode, loved how Roman and Kendall (even with his 'happy' ending) just feel so pathetic.
You guys are being misled if you think Kendall actually plans on using that business plan, he even tells the guy that it 'needs to be credible' so he can announce it in the product launch, this is all Kendall trying to maintain his position and what the entire series is about. Why would the series finale be about Matsson instead of the actual Succession?
i know it's been said before but i love the idea that out of all the kids, shiv is the one that looks the most like logan. connor has logan's light eyes, roman has his face shape and sorta flared nose, but shiv has all of those features (i couldn't find anything super substantial for kendall so i left him out, sorry king). kendall and roman both have brown hair like their mom, but shiv's brighter hair color more closely resembles logan's pure white old man hair. then in this episode she went off on kendall and roman about how "she knows them" then saying "boys, you're not good at this", and all of that felt similar to logan saying "you're not serious people" only a few episodes earlier. i'm not sure where i'm going with this lmao. i know all of the kids exhibit logan roy qualities, but the parallels between logan and shiv always catch my eye. anyway, great vid! oh also gerri should legally be allowed to beat the shit out of roman :)
You need to watch this episode twice to realise that launching project is a mess financially. But launching it was the best scenario, they would lose more money not doing it.
You guys just covering your face with your hands. Same. That was me during the whole episode 😂. Also, people saying that Kendall's move was "genius" no. He got lucky. That's gonna bite him in the ass in the next episodes.
Fantastic video as usual! Have you guys thought about starting up a Patreon with full length reactions, I would definitely subscribe, keep it up y’all!
Kendall continues to fail upward. Waystar's stock may rise but its based on numbers Kendall completely made up. He even covered for himself by having a doctored video of his dead father do the major lying for him. Maybe this is something his father would have done as well and Kendall is finally embracing his father's thinking, no matter how bad it is. I don't think this is going to end well...
@@johnjungkook2721 It's failing upward because the stock is rising despite the fact that Kendall does his job terribly. He's outright lying about projected profits. He's supporting terrible decisions that Roman makes. At a micro level his plans don't come to fruition, exemplified this episode by his managing of the stage crew. He gives people impossible tasks, so its no surprise they don't get done. This will be a harbinger of things to come. He's given the company the impossible task of "unbelieveable growth" as Greg put it, and when it doesn't happen, eventually things will come crashing down. Unless he's willing to become even more evil. He might succeed by embracing the full evil of his father. I think the end message of this series is that Logan was not successful, he was simply more evil than his competition, evil enough to ensure that nobody else beat him, no matter the merits, even if that meant boldface lying and cover ups of murders. It would take the meaning of the title of the show to a new level.
Anyone else think Kendall is back on drugs this episode? My alarms were going off this episode, especially when he mentions that he'll "be up all night" preparing for the presentation.
The money thing could tank the deal, maybe Maadson drops out but then Kendall essentially lied to the investors. Kendall is manic and an addict and the thrill of destroying everything is calling to him. And if ANyONE leaks the fact that the footage of Logan is doctored, he could be kicked out of the job and possibly face legal charges? Gerri is going to take down Roman, it’s over for him. Shiv is playing both sides but I think either her failure to act or failure to make the right choice will bite her in the end.
Great reaction. You're right that Kendall wants to push the share price up so that then Matsson runs out of money to make a deal. If they tank the company, they screw themselves as then they lose their money if the company tanks. I note that the main part of the presentation was written by Karolina, so it's interesting that the bit where Kendall sounds more competent was when he was saying what she'd written, although he handled Matsson's tweet well. As for Shiv, she's playing Matsson the way she is good at and I don't think she's interested in anything sexual with him. It's just a power game. Oh and Kendall sent Roman the video, as you see on Roman's phone screen that the text with the video file came from his brother. It's heartbreaking to see that Roman misses his dad so much, that he needs to hear his voice abusing him.
@@pete3345 my interpretation was the off script was the opening and the dead dad inclusion, but the central part about the product was largely Karolina’s. Her response to me was the fact her subordinate Hugo seems to be surprised it’s good, which was again him being disrespectful to his boss, which he’s done all the way through this show.
You can't seriously think Shiv has the upper hand with Mattsson. Mattsson is pressing all the buttons on her daddy issues to make her feel loyal to him. He's taking the place of her father in her mind - Tom, Shiv and Mattson will have the same weird three-way relationship that Tom, Shiv and Logan had if the deal doesn't blow up. It's like what Tom said to Shiv in the bedroom about competing with Logan for Shiv's devotion.
@@johnjungkook2721 I didn’t say she had the upper hand. I said she’s playing the power game which is what she does as a political adviser career. Yes, he’s playing her too and is likely better at manipulation, but she’s more equipped to interact with him than her brothers due to her career dealing with politicians and difficult personalities.
The video was sent by Kendal to Rome. It says "Attachment from Kendal". And if you rewatch the last shot of Rome closely. He replay's the video again and again to hear that line because the audio isn't edited to the part where Logans says "It's a historic announcement that Roman" and then it's edited to Micro dick. So does that mean that video was made for the shareholder's meet in the past where Logan was going to declare Roman as the Successor? Roman has a doubt and that's why he keeps listening to it.
Why would he compare Living+ to concentration camps? Earlier in the episode, he compares the idea to the “sh*tty, heartbreaking” experience of being “locked up” in one of Waystar’s cruises, but “you get to stay in the same place the whole time.” Even Kendall and Roman describe it as “depressing” and “warehousing the elderly and keeping them drunk on content while they suck them dry.” So he is saying that the company is racist and neonazi - ish to have living plus a thing.
