    The lack of a provided deck list is intentional. The written guide has suggestions for engines, techs, and ratios--toss in whatever sounds fun. You'll figure out a streamlined list for your play style long before you've figured out how to navigate the main combos.

    • @MarkThePage

      Totally depends on your hand and what extenders you run. You can also fake out the opponent by going through combos whose outputs are search targets which you've secretly already drawn.

      @@MarkThePage my argument was against people saying that modern Yu-Gi-Oh is less creative than some fictional idealization of "classic" Yu-Gi-Oh. It's clear that when you look at past formats there is so much room for innovation, that we were blind to, and I think it has to do with modern deck building conventions that allows us to see these synergies we missed. Modern Edison format is so different from what we thought was powerful during the original event, because evaluate synergy and power differently.

    This is the kind of content the average deck profiles are missing: actual discussion of synergies and setups. It doesn't matter how messy a deck is if it can be properly explained.

      I agree!! I have a sloppy Swordsoul/Branded/Chaos deck on Master Duel that can create crazy boards on either turn. Hop ear is becoming my favorite tuner. I use the effect of whatever level 8 I have, wait until they target it, then synchro into something more powerful to dodge effects 😂😂
      I agree Golden Swordsoul is a fantastic card. Great extender, possible etude of branded on their turn.

    • @Servbot40
      @Servbot40 8 месяцев назад +9

      Isn't this the same creativity that went into building most of the popular modern Archtypes. Spright was just a mush mash of different level 2 engines that served a focus game plan. Honestly if you look at classic Yu-Gi-Oh, you see less creative strategies more often, Classic Goat format was riddled with good stuff decks before it was developed with modern deck building conventions. When do you put the cut off for Modern Yu-Gi-Oh. Is it post pendulum? Post XYZ? Post Synchro? You can't really argue one way or another which is more creative. Also what defines creativity? Tri-brigade has been mixing random BBW archtype since it's inception, are you going to say this deck is more creative than Bird-Up or Tri-Zoo, just because those decks were meta? The fun thing about branded is that it can play well with just about any fusion archtype, Is Branded Tear less creative than this? Is it the variety of options that makes it creative? mannadium plays nearly every Extra deck type and mixes several somewhat connected archtype into one combo. I think people discount that creativity went into tuning the popular decks, to get the most amount of power out of them as they could, it has never been about slamming every name in a single deck and getting a winning deck out by default. Even decks like Purrely which need a high concentration of in engine cards need to balance the few decks slots they do have to non engine to build a functional deck. Long past are the days where all you needed to do is load your deck up with all the best power cards and cheese out wins with Chaos monsters.

    • @MarkThePage
      @MarkThePage  8 месяцев назад +6

      Spright has a unifying trait of "level 2 monsters" across everything it plays. Lyrilusc Tri and Branded Tear combine just two archetypes. Not to say they aren't creative or skillful decks, but there's a reason why those hybrids were discovered quickly by many people, while Sapphire Surprise wasn't.
      In the early days of building this deck, my friend Terrence found Tri-Brigade combos which even pure Tri-Brigade players hadn't found yet. This goes back to what I was saying at the start of this video, about Branded Fusion and Verte: Verte wasn't being used because it was the best card, but rather because it was the most power for the least amount of effort/skill, and a higher power level would've required a disproportionately far higher amount of effort/skill to build and to pilot.
      Like, Verte is 90 points of power off of 2 brain cells, whereas High Spirits is 100 points of power but requires 20 brain cells. Most people are going to take the 90 and call it a reasonable day.

    This is the exact kind of ygo content I've been looking for. Deep explanations of decks, with 15-page documents explaining what doesn't fit in the video. Honestly this is such a crazy deck and I'm amazed you looked at the crystal beasts and thought "what if I used these to summon almost everything from the Albaz lore," I'm envious of the creativity

    • @MarkThePage
      @MarkThePage  8 месяцев назад +8

      Wow, someone actually found the guide! The idea started with my friend Terence wanting to add some Albaz Strike cards to CB Tri, while I was tinkering with a bunch of instant boss monsters. There was a brief moment when Tri-Brigade decks were summoning Mirrorjade through Verte, but when Verte was banned, everyone (else) assumed the hybrid was dead. My tournament vlogs tell the story of THAT moment in Yugioh history.

    The Golden Swordsoul is among my favorite tech cards in any deck I have ever made, people just do not think about it much.
    I am currently playing a lot of an Albaz pile deck trying to play as many different albaz archetypes at once without being entirely uncompetitive.
    It has a higher potential output than each of the individual strategies, but in return you can usually only do an archetype's combo once or twice due to the tight extra deck.

    This is pretty cool, the springgan engine is something I haven't considered but I might look into. Feels a little fragile though I'm not sure how well this will be playing into hand traps or an established board I'm seeing a number of choke points here and crucially a number of the starters such as the crystal beasts and some tribrigades etc cannot serve as extenders if you've already normalled. Some very interesting theory crafting though.

    That's a neat little combo pile. I do think it a video like this would benefit a lot from the pros and cons of this deck/type of deck. Like for example this deck is going all in, it has next to no recovery you either stop them without you end board or you lose.

Only things i could say is card explanation on what it does even extremely basic. After coming back after a decade or so a lot of tyese videos are like "summon barrel dragon" but never says anything like "this is for negating X or popping something" and then swiftly moving on. A lot of vidoeos for me specifically anyway invole pausing and looking up cards, just to see roughly what they do then coming back. Maybe im just old n lazy i duno.... Merry Christmas im subbed

    • @MarkThePage
      @MarkThePage  8 месяцев назад

      Messing around with Snake-Eyes on YGOPRO, I have no idea what I'm doing yet my field is overflowing every time. Diabellestar is a fantastic discard outlet for things like Rainbow Bridge of Salvation, and they have a strong field spell to search. However, the price tag alone seems enough to keep me away.

    • @shiningcyberdragon
      @shiningcyberdragon 8 месяцев назад

      Yea the wanted and Diabelstar cards are expensive but you can mitigate that by playing 3 Diabelstar & 3 original sin sinful spoils or whatever sinful spoils spells you need instead of 3 wanted, 1 Diabelstar and 1 sinful spoils since the purpose of the engine is to grab a sinful spoils card. Or if you want to go even more budget just play 3 of the sinful spoils cards without the Diabelstar

    • @shiningcyberdragon
      @shiningcyberdragon 8 месяцев назад

      Because if you think about it, wanted searches Diabelstar and Diabelstar searches a sinful spoils spell. You can essentially achieve the same effect (albeit without the draw) by increasing the number of sinful spoils spells(most of them are like 3-5$). I would HIGHLY recommend you get flamberge dragon regardless. That card will be 40-50$ soon, at the very least get it, test stuff out with it and then trade it for profit

    I hate modern Yugioh. But this decklist, between the creativity in the cards and combos and the presentation itself, not only describing the choices, but also presenting different techs and lines, and also the energy you put into it really made me want to try the deck. Also the choice to not give a defined decklist but to encourage duelists to try the deck themselves and come up with their own personal version is something I really admire. Thank you

Even though withholding my exact list denies audiences the instant gratification they want, I think it makes for a more engaging experience for those who are actually interested in sticking with the strategy long enough to pilot it well. Assuming your hand isn't like 1 good card + 4 bricks, you can usually play through interruptions. The exception, as you noted, is droll which can reduce you to like r4nk (bagooska/dweller) or DDL pass. Some of the most fun I've had with this deck (pre-PHHY) was going second vs. a bunch of interruptions because every non-brick in hand is usually an extender.
