I loved how they showed that even though they are rich, they never found time to enjoy anything, and in fact playing the game was the fun. Outings, clubs, holidays, whatever, it was always business.
Also, i love Matthew Macfadyen as an actor and its a testament to his talent because Tom irritated the F outta me 😂😂 cant believe its Mr Darcy from the 2005 Pride and Prejudice lol
I’m surprised you guys never mentioned the similarity between this show and arrested development. This show reminds me of a more serious version of arrested development. You have the dad that’s in charge doing shady stuff. Michael Bluth is Ken. Shiv is Lindsay Bluth, Tom is Tobias, Connor is Gob, the stepmom is Lucille, Greg is George Michael and Roman is Buster.
Season one was great and season two is so much better. If they can have another couple seasons of this level of quality - it’s gonna be one of the GOATs.
@@darthplagueis8886 yes true, but the theme and feeling I think they where going for they didn’t really hit. In billions they swear constantly, deal with a lot of really dark themes surrounding business world and show nudity/ explicit sexual kinks but it still felt like an inauthentic kinda teen series. Idk just my opinion
@@pinkpyramid5681 its more of a finance and law type of show with Axe and Chuck, Succession is more a media/political show with a much larger budget, but no doubt, the latter is in a whole other level, my favorite show on TV right now.
ultimately I'm not really sure it's appropriate to try and truly compare the two, what with part of the idea in Billions is having it be just as much about this other side of the law and how that's not always without corruption. Having said that, I have grown fairly disappointed with Billions over the last couple seasons as it's gotten repetitive and predictable, and the rate at which they have characters openly describing their behavior as mimicking something from a famous movie or song as long since went beyond parody.
Billions feel more like they wanted to go for Wolf of Walll St but with a lot more POV chapters from the law's side. Succession feels more like House of Cards but the POV of the corporate world vs the political world.
I love Succession I’ve watched it all the way through 3 or 4 times now. It’s by far the best show on TV post GoT. What I think is interesting is it highlights the difficulties of growing up in such a superrich dynasty, you never really have the loving bonds between siblings and with parents as they’re is so much competition and everything is business. They’ve obviously taken huge inspiration from the Murdochs and these type of people never seem that happy in real life, all they do is work and never retire. Maybe us ordinary folks are actually better off 🤷🏻♀️
You are. Most people on the top are obsessed with money or fundamentally disfunctional, thats why they are there. It takes an extreme personality to be rich.
I loved this show but holy shit did it ever give me some major anxiety and upset at points. So hard watching certain characters just *almost* make the right decisions so many times only to crash and burn. And the stuff between them and their father was hard to watch.
Succession kind of depressed me, so I've yet to watch season 2. Rich people are so soulless. It reminds me of the snobby families in my town growing up
Roman slowly became my fave i just find him so funny. Also Greg is so the audience a lot not knowing whats going on in the family cus its insane lmao 😂😂
18:38 HOLY SHIT, thats fucking incredible!!!! Guess they thought people would miss it too, imagine being so good the creators become spectators. All this inside information is blowing me away, i might check them more from now on.
11:27 HOOOOOLY SHIT!!!! Thats Got level of exploitation and prickness, makes you go "NOOOO dont ask his help!!!!" even though it's usually a comprehensible mistake.
Nando v movies casted Tom (Matthew Macfayden) as Charles Xavier, I love the channel but I won’t be able to ignore the whole swallowing your own load thing.
This show reminds me of Arrested Development, but with more deadpan comedy style. The tradition of the entire cast of characters being unlikeable assholes is a lot like so many other shows, such as Seinfeld, Girls, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Malcolm in the Middle, Married With Children, and Family Guy.
I love that there is some wack just completely out of place thing that happens in each season of this show and in season 2 they just blow right over it
I agree, the characters are unlikable, but you still eventually develop favorites. It's often very, very funny. Overall It's as good as GOT, but without the sword fighting. Also well shot and directed.
Absolutely nothing like the office, I'm sorry 😆. I feel vindicated thou, I hated every character at first and couldn't figure out why I liked the show so much 😆
@Fire I never said it was bad you don't got to get your feelings hurt. It's just not a very popular show so I was wondering if someone gave money for them to review it. Maybe that's why it's a very low viewed video compared to the rest of their content on the channel

Can’t make a Tomlette without breaking some Gregs
Greggs*
The spelling makes it better.
I'm always rooting for Kendall. His story just keeps getting more tragic.
I actually hate him but his father right he is useless. Kendall had the arrogance buy not the smart to back it up
@@kidd32888 I disagree. He had his dad by the balls but he fucked up and lost the battle .
I would like to quote Logan “ fuck off”
I loved how they showed that even though they are rich, they never found time to enjoy anything, and in fact playing the game was the fun. Outings, clubs, holidays, whatever, it was always business.
They did play boar on the floor ahahah.
They also made a subtle point to show who was watching sports. Their kitchen staff and some random grocery store clerk / owner
They enjoy hurting each other and other people so people have different ways to enjoy life.
Kendall man, so well written. He’s so tragic because he gets soooo close to the right choices.
To me it's like a modern Shakespeare tragedy.
💯
Also, i love Matthew Macfadyen as an actor and its a testament to his talent because Tom irritated the F outta me 😂😂 cant believe its Mr Darcy from the 2005 Pride and Prejudice lol
Also Uhtred's father in Last Kingdom. First episode.
He's Tom Quinn from Spooks to me 🙂

I was just thinking about this in the loo yesterday. Good spot, mate.
I think Roman is Gob and Connor is Buster
@@cloudwalker7 yeah that's a better comparison
I am watching these two shows continuously exactly, love them both.
I thought this from episode 1 😂

To me this is what billions wanted to be but never had the talent to become.
I´d say never had the budget, but they´re actually very different type of shows.

I just started Season one based on your enthusiasm for the series and, I'm calling it right now, Greg is going to run the entire fxn company. 👍🏾

Wait hold my Google.....
Oh snap it is him 😂
My girlfriend introduced me to Succession a little over a month ago... I definitely, definitely don't go and see her just so I can watch it...
It’s a closed loop system
I like Succession because the show doesn't even try to pretend to be good. Which makes it authentic. 4K please, HBO.
A suprise to be certain, but a welcome one.
Tom truly has the best lines.
Thanks for this, Succession is my favorite show, really hope you guys do the review to season 2 as well.
You did not mentioned the real star- Shiv’s butt!
Shocking and amazing each time I see it.
Omg her ass is amazing. Glad someone else mentioned it.
His character in "Chain Reaction" is very much like Logan Roy.
The Rise of The Murdoch dynasty on Australia's ABC channel. Art imitating reality will blow your mind

gonna asume it was Roman and Tom though haha
As someone named connor the whole conversation about that character, ending with nash daying “im connor” is hilarious to me
Brooo the intro is soo good
Just caught up with season one and holy fucking shit man…
It was Santa Fe not phoenix.
Kendal has been reduced to a Zombie since the "incident."
You mention Cersei but forget to point out how the Roys are basically the modern day Lannisters? Tyrion = Kendall obviously
