I’m a marine engineer on cruise ships and this is not true. Man overboard procedures on cruise ships are much more efficient than those on say a chemical tanker. You wouldn’t be waiting for hours but rather 30 minutes maximum. Crew onboard are immediately sent out to start preparing Thermal protective aid, first aid kits, defibrillators etc. Before this however the ship has to steer towards the man overboard (this takes the engine and propellers away from them which saves them from being shredded to pieces). You would almost certainly be seen falling overboard because if one of the crew members on their watch doesnt see you fall then a passenger will. In addition to this if you’re on a cruise ship you’ll be sailing in a sea such as the mediterranean or the caribbean sea and not the north sea (if you did fall overboard in the north sea then yes you would almost certainly die). These sea’s are very calm in nature making it easy for you to be spotted from a distance You’re much more likely to die from the actual impact on the water and not the effects of the water itself if that makes sense.
@@Dragoltsy Chances that are VERY low. Remember, rescue efforts can take hours to days, depending on the conditions the water is in, you will be subjected to a long period of low temperatures, temperatures that can have fatal effects on the body.
Chance of death for people who fall off a cruise ship is 60%. So preferably be careful not to fall. Its a 60% base chance once you fall so whether youre seem or not you probably wont survive. You could die from impact with the water, blackout from impact and drown, get pulled uner the boat and drown, get pulled under the boat and scraped to death against the hull, get battered against the hull by waves, be left and eventually drown from exhaustion or hypothermia, or somehow fall and survive where youre likely to have multiple broken bones and bruises. Dont take your chances, just stay away from the edge and never jump by choice.

i cruise often and i've always felt safer on the ship than on land by a lot. i've never worried about falling off even though i'm tall and the guards can be a bit short at times. this video has officially struck fear into me. for anyone who's never been on a cruise, these things go FAST. it's kind of like how it would feel to go on a plane if you could open the window. if you stand outside you can literally feel the wind from how quickly the boat moves even if it doesn't feel like it's moving. you can also see the trail of foamy water that the boat leaves behind and how far you can get before it settles again. not only this but at night it gets black. not dark, but absolutely pitch black. there have been many nights where there were no stars and no hint of the moon. you can put your hand in front of you and not be able to see it in some places of the ship where there's no other lights. you can still hear the ocean, but it's like a void at night. now that i think of it it's actually pretty terrifying. i say all this because this video is completely right. if you were to fall off then no one would be able to see or hear you, especially at night. this is kind of psyching me out of going on any more😓

Poaceae (/poʊˈeɪsi.iː, -ˌaɪ/), also called Gramineae (/ɡrəˈmɪni.iː, -ˌaɪ/), is a large and nearly ubiquitous family of monocotyledonous flowering plants commonly known as grasses. It includes the cereal grasses, bamboos, the grasses of natural grassland and species cultivated in lawns and pasture. The latter are commonly referred to collectively as grass. With around 780 genera and around 12,000 species,[4] the Poaceae is the fifth-largest plant family, following the Asteraceae, Orchidaceae, Fabaceae and Rubiaceae.[5] The Poaceae are the most economically important plant family, providing staple foods from domesticated cereal crops such as maize, wheat, rice, oats, barley, and millet for people and as feed for meat-producing animals. They provide, through direct human consumption, just over one-half (51%) of all dietary energy; rice provides 20%,[6] wheat supplies 20%, maize (corn) 5.5%, and other grains 6%.[citation needed] Some members of the Poaceae are used as building materials (bamboo, thatch, and straw); others can provide a source of biofuel, primarily via the conversion of maize to ethanol. Grasses have stems that are hollow except at the nodes and narrow alternate leaves borne in two ranks. The lower part of each leaf encloses the stem, forming a leaf-sheath. The leaf grows from the base of the blade, an adaptation allowing it to cope with frequent grazing. Grasslands such as savannah and prairie where grasses are dominant are estimated to constitute 40.5% of the land area of the Earth, excluding Greenland and Antarctica.[7] Grasses are also an important part of the vegetation in many other habitats, including wetlands, forests and tundra. Though they are commonly called "grasses", groups such as the seagrasses, rushes and sedges fall outside this family. The rushes and sedges are related to the Poaceae, being members of the order Poales, but the seagrasses are members of the order Alismatales. However, all of them belong to the monocot group of plants.
With around 780 genera and around 12,000 species,[4] the Poaceae is the fifth-largest plant family, following the Asteraceae, Orchidaceae, Fabaceae and Rubiaceae.[5]
The Poaceae are the most economically important plant family, providing staple foods from domesticated cereal crops such as maize, wheat, rice, oats, barley, and millet for people and as feed for meat-producing animals.

Grasses may be annual or perennial herbs,[8]: 10 generally with the following characteristics (the image gallery can be used for reference): The stems of grasses, called culms, are usually cylindrical (more rarely flattened, but not 3-angled) and are hollow, plugged at the nodes, where the leaves are attached.[8][9] Grass leaves are nearly always alternate and distichous (in one plane), and have parallel veins.[8]: 11 Each leaf is differentiated i

This gives me so much anxiety for some reason
Bc you put yourself in that position and he basically said you’d die if you were indeed in that position 😅
Ocean is unsettling.
If something like that happens you should also put as much effort as you can to NOT come in contact with the propellers because depending on the location, you could just get severely injured, or become the (minced) meat for a shark to enjoy.
“Spidey would help you”

I remember every time I was on a cruise ship, I'd look out onto the balcony at night, and my intrusive thoughts would tell me to jump.
I’ve had the same impulse before in cruise ships, tall buildings and such. I’ve always thought there was something wrong with me. Apparently is not only normal but healthy to have these thoughts. Go figure.

I like how the cruise ship goes speedy mode when you fall off the but when it's coming back to you it comes at like 5 mph😂😂😂
You wouldn't submerge very deep. At terminal velocity, you're not likely to go deeper than about 12ft. You could easily be concussed or knocked out though.

Eh, sharks usually don’t attack people. When they do it’s because they don’t know what you are.
Sharks don't eat humans. "Jaws" is a horror movie that has nothing to do with real life.
