  • Ex-Scientologist Aaron Smith-Levin (@GrowingUpInScientology) fills me in with the shock details behind how quickly Katie Holmes got away from Tom Cruise. We talk about her lawyer father, her burner phones and how she managed to win sole custody of Suri Cruise in one of the biggest legal triumphs of the century! Tom Cruise has reportedly not seen his daughter in a decade, after Katie and Tom divorced in 2012. We also talk about some of the cruel punishments Tom Cruise handed out to his scientology girlfriend Nazanin Boniadi, made to clean a bathroom with a toothbrush after saying to him 'very well done'.

Katie reminds me of a friend I had in Louisiana. Her first marriage was to a man who was abusing her. Luckily, she was working, and was able to set up her escape. She paid all the bills, cancelled their joint credit card and bank accounts, found a new place to live, all while still married, then she packed up and left with her son. She didn’t leave any loose ends.
I really admire her for that.
Years later, she met and married a nice man who loved her. And they were very happy. He eventually died of a heart condition, unfortunately. But while they had each other, they were happy.

@@epi965 that's the point, everyone _does_ know the bit about 6 month residency in terms of custody disputes.
That's where the "genius" of it comes in. It's that she low-key set up filming projects/professional work in NYC for the purpose of giving her a legitimate reason to be there in a way that called minimal attention, therefore shielding why she was ACTUALLY there-for the purpose of custody/divorce, a piece of her escape plan.
Katie had to be careful in the projects she lined up, it all had to "fit" within the bounds of what makes sense for her, *Katie Holmes,* i.e. not coming off too eager in the roles/work she accepted. Katie was an A+++ lister and would have had no shortage of professional opportunities available to her.

Well, I have luckily escaped Scientology 8 years ago, and I have been in it for 10 years by that time. I was raised by a couple of Scientologist. It is really terrifying once you start to understand how much of a scam it is and how obscured everything is.
But on the divorce I can say a thing: Scientologists just never sue each other. It is against internal rules. I don’t deny that there is some dirt on DM, but absolutely sure that the trial would have been fast and easy any way. There is idea that all the conflicts must be solved inside the community, and if it is not possible on any reason, it must be quiet, fast, unnoticeable - for the sake of reputation. And also to prevent “entheta” from spreading, lol

I am just sad that everyone but her thought it was a bad idea to date him. He is an absolute psycho. I had to do it alone and it was awful; I have always had a contentious and difficult relationship with my parents so when I finally worked up the courage to go talk to them about help getting out my gather said "we can't listen to this we have to stay neutral" it wasn't unexpected, but still felt like a knife in my back, it was hard to pack up with a six-month-old to take care of at the same time, luckily I had a neighbor who would watch him for an hour or so, and let me stash the boxes at her house til I found a place for us to move to and a job to support us which I was fortunate enough to have the computer skills to be able to do fairly quickly, but without her, it would not have happened, throughout the entire custody hearing nightmare no one from my family ever called to ask how it was going, or how we were which again, was not a surprise, but still hurt a lot

Seriously Katie, who moved to NYC, was out and about all the time using the paps as a shield against the church, and was being seen so they couldn't easily harm her in the wild.
